Don’t say it unless you mean it…

It’s a simple concept, one I’ve said time and again, but something people don’t seem to comprehend. You should choose every syllable carefully, because you never know when somebody will hold you to your word.

Somebody like me.

I’m not a good man. I’m not. I know. I have enough darkness inside of me to rid the world of every stitch of light. But there’s one I could never harm, one light I couldn’t bring myself to snuff out.

Karissa.

She thinks I’m a monster, and maybe I am. I taunt her with my touch, get a thrill out of torturing her soul. But I’m not the only one. The world is full of monsters, and I’m not the most dangerous one out there.

Not even close…

God help me, I love her.

I do.

And God help anyone who tries to take her from me.

Here is an EXCERPT from TtHS! ❤

excerpt

“Guess it’s true what they say.”

The sound of Karissa’s voice draws my attention. Turning around, I see her standing at the bottom of the steps, eyes trained past me at the front door. Early morning sunshine bathes the area around it in a soft orange glow, making the brand new locks lining the door shine brightly. I spent all night fortifying the house, doing everything in my power to make the place secure.

“And what, exactly, do they say?”

Karissa’s eyes shift from the door to meet mine. Her hair is a mess, her pajamas disheveled. She clearly just woke up from sleeping hard, lost in tranquility, while I spent the past few hours drowning in paranoia. Every time the house creaked, I damn near clawed my way out of my own skin.

“History repeats itself,” she says, “first as a tragedy, second as a farce.”

Karl Marx. I recognize the quote.

Daniel Santino must’ve taught it to her.

Huh.

I wave toward the front door. “Something about this is funny to you?”

“Not really funny,” she says, slowly stepping closer. “It’s sort of curious, though, that I spent my entire life trapped behind locked doors and here it is, happening to me again. I always knew something was going on when my mother started buying extra locks and nailing down windows. It’s just a bit of déjà vu seeing you doing the same thing.”

Hesitating, I reach into my pocket and fish out a set of keys. I toss them to her without warning, and they hit the wooden floor by her feet with a clang. Bending down, she picks them up, eyeing me curiously.

“You’re not trapped here, Karissa.”

Her fist closes around the keys, her gaze burning through me as she arches an eyebrow, silent for a moment before asking, “Aren’t I?”

“No, you’re not,” I say. “You can leave the house whenever you want.”

“Can I?”

“Of course,” I say. “Doesn’t mean I won’t follow you, though.”

Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.

Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.

But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

**Warning: This book is a wild, sexy beast of a read. 18+**

Putting a woman on her knees before me is what really makes my cock hard. I fuck with dominant force and absolute control. I demand complete surrender from my conquests.

Savage man, loner, warrior… I am dangerous at my core. I have lived amidst the untamed wild of the rainforest, in a society that reveres me and where every woman falls before me in subjugation.

Now I’ve been discovered. Forced to return to a world that I have forgotten about and to a culture that is only vaguely familiar to my senses.

Dr. Moira Reed is an anthropologist who has been hired to help me transition back into modern society. It’s her job to smooth away my rough edges… to teach me how to navigate properly through this new life of mine. She wants to tame me.

She’ll never win.

I am wild, free and raw, and the only thing I want from the beautiful Moira Reed is to fuck her into submission.

She wants it, I am certain.

I will give it to her soon.

Yes, very soon, I will become the teacher and she will become my student. And when I am finished showing her body pleasure like no other, she’ll know what it feels like to be claimed by an uncivilized man.

Holy hell. This is my first time reading a book by Sawyer Bennett, but it certainly will NOT be my last!

“I learned that you… Zacharias Easton… are an uncivilized man.”

Okay – first off, that blurb right there. It had me hooked the second I read it! I had to know who this dominant, uncivilized man was. And WOW, I was not disappointed with Zach and Moira’s story. Uncivilized is one of the hottest books I’ve ever read – well, I should say that Zach is one of the hottest male characters I’ve ever read. I am in total awe of him – so just a fair warning, make sure to bring a fan with you while you read this book!

Zacharias Easton has been living in the jungle with the Caraican tribe for the past eighteen years since he was seven years old. His parents died on a mission trip, leaving Zach to the care of the Caraicans. So Zach lived these eighteen years as a primitive, though intelligent, man. Zach is the epitome of an alpha-male – he is dominant and possessive, but add in a little wildness from the jungle, and you get a character that I absolutely loved to read about.

“Oh, baby… I’m going to teach you how good it’s going to feel to be fucked into submission by an uncivilized man.”

Hot damn, I really just CANNOT get over how HOT this book was.

Dr. Moira Reed is an anthropologist who has been hired to take on the job of assimilating Zach back into modern civilization. She’s smart, witty, and a very independent woman. She owns herself, which I admired about her. She shows compassion towards Zach, never forcing him to assimilate, always ready to help him. Moira and Zach have an undeniable chemistry between them, which Moira tries to ignore and which fascinates Zach. But even as fascinated as Zach is with Moira, he is very resistant to assimilating to the modern American culture. He believes that he belongs with the Caraicans, but he gives Moira some time to try to show him the ways of modern society.

I look across the table at Moira and am humbled at the way that she gets me. I first thought that she would try to change me into something I’m not capable of but, instead, she celebrates my diversity from this life.
She appreciates it.

I loved the relationship that Moira and Zach form. Yes, it is an intensely sexual one, but on a much deeper level, these two learn so much about themselves from each other, Zach especially. Zach finds himself at a loss as his feelings for Moira grow deeper each day he stays with her. He’s torn between his home with the Caraicans and Moira, who is fast becoming his home as well. I loved the tender feelings Zach and Moira grew to feel for each other, because while the sex was ridiculously on fire, it was the emotional bond that formed between them that really made the story for me.

His eyes more into me with utter seriousness and purpose. “I’ll be your everything if you want me to.”

It may seem like Uncivilized is a slightly dark romance, but it’s not. Which I was really glad about because I just wasn’t in the mood to read one. Zach is dominant, yes, but Moira not a submissive – at least, not all the time. She gives up control to him, but only when she wants to, which is not too often. Uncivilized is also told in both Moira and Zach’s POVs, which I definitely appreciated. Like I said before, I will definitely be reading more Sawyer Bennett books, because the writing in Uncivilized was fantastic. I was swept away by these two characters, and I was hooked to every page from start to finish.

4 hearts! An utterly addicting read!

Now read on for a guest post from Chelsea Fine about TATTOOS! ❤

Tattoos: The Prettiest Storytellers

by Chelsea Fine

Anyone who reads my books knows that I have a minor obsession with body art. Tattoos—and really any other kind of skin branding, such as scars—are prevalent elements in almost all of my stories. I’ve been fascinated with body art since I was a child and this quote from Right Kind of Wrong pretty much sums up why:

“That’s what tattoos are: storytellers. Not always, but most of the time. Some stories we tell with our tongues, in words and kisses and the food we make for others. Other stories are just for ourselves and are told in tattoos and scars and the shields we erect around our hearts.”

I truly believe tattoos tell stories. Scars also tell stories, but tattoos are stories marked on our skin by choice. For memory’s sake, for pride, for individuality…there are a host of reasons for inking your body. It’s one of the most personal, and permanent, forms of art that exists and human beings have been partaking in the ritual since 6000 B.C.

But if you wished to get a tattoo in 6000 B.C., you really had to want it. Back then, the most common to apply body ink was by using a knife to cut a design into the flesh and then rubbing ash and juice into the raw wound so the stain would be trapped below the surface when it healed. Ouch.

This excruciating process says something about how fierce the desire was to brand one’s skin. People were willing to undergo serious pain to stamp their bodies with an image, which proves just how important individual “storytelling” though body ink was 8,000 years ago. And still remains today.

Sure, it’s not as barbaric or painful as it used to be, but people are just as determined to mark their skin with representative symbols today, if not more so than thousands of years ago. Body art is a big deal and, in my opinion, a beautiful pastime.

You would think, with all my love for tattoos, that I’d have plenty of my own to brag about, but no. I don’t have a single tattoo—not because I don’t want any, but because I want too many. If I started getting tattoos, I doubt I’d be able to stop. I’d ink my body until I had no bare skin left.

What kinds of tattoos would I get? Things that symbolized my sister, my husbands, my children, my mother. Things that reflected my love of writing, art, and music. Things that reminded me of the obstacles I’ve overcome and the challenges I still want to face; the way fear immobilizes me and bravery makes me soar. I have too many stories I want to tell. And since tattoos are storytellers, I don’t think I’d ever run short on ideas.

So I stick to writing my stories down in books. All those pieces of me that I want to tattoo on my skin get translated into characters, plot lines, and themes in my books and I’m perfectly fine with that.

But who knows? Maybe someday I’ll decide to get a tattoo, after all. But until then, I’ll be content telling stories with my books and not with my skin. But I will forever enjoy reading the tattoos of others; the prettiest storytellers of all.
