A sexy, emotional New Adult romance about a bad boy on the edge and a good girl about to lose control…

A college baseball star isn’t supposed to have skeletons in his closet. But Daniel Quinn is hiding a guilty past so dark he refuses to let anyone get close. Except there’s something about gorgeous, studious Ella Abrams that goes beyond the electric attraction between them–something that makes him want to open up.

Ella has suffered enough heartache and guilt to fill one of her psychology textbooks, but she keeps that part of herself hidden behind a bubbly exterior. Until she receives an anonymous call while working a suicide helpline and the voice on the other end touches something inside of her that she can’t ignore.

Soon Ella and Quinn’s physical connection heats up, even as their deep and revealing hotline talks intensify. But by the time Ella realizes that her seductive jock and her sensitive caller are the same guy, it might be too late to save him–or to stop herself from falling too far…

excerpt

“My mom likes you,” I said, biting my lip. “I can tell.”

“Yeah?” He turned to face me, his voice softening. “You think she can tell that I like her daughter?”

My breath caught in the back of my throat. Something had shifted in the air between us. It was heavy and heated. Something so commanding I felt it down to my toes. My heart was thrashing so loudly against my chest, I was sure he could hear it.

He moved closer than any two friends should rightfully stand and his spicy scent enveloped me. Oh Lord, if I didn’t get a taste of those full lips I would die on this very spot.

Right this very instant.

When I looked up into his face, his eyes had become hooded.

Words were shouting inside my skull. And then they worked their way onto my lips. They were hanging there, dangling for dear life.

Just take a chance, damn it. Take a gamble, Quinn.

Kiss me and let’s find out what this magic is between us.

But he’d been the one who’d held back that other night, so the ball was in his court.

“It’s not just me who feels this, right?” Quinn mumbled. His fingers curled around my neck, his thumb mapping patterns in the hollow of my throat. “I’m not crazy?”

The words that had been so readily available just moments before had flitted away on the wind. I’d wanted this moment for days. Weeks. Maybe even years.

“There’s something here, Ella. Between us,” he whispered. His lips were a breath away and I momentarily shut my eyes to gain control of my erratic breathing.

“I don’t know what this is or what the hell might happen,” he said, rubbing his finger along the edge of my earlobe. “But I do know one thing.”

Still, I couldn’t move or even speak. I was motionless—hypnotized by his eyes, his lips, his words.

Finally, my hands became unstuck and I slid them up his chest to his shoulders as he shuddered against my touch.

“I know I need to put my mouth on those pretty lips and kiss you,” he said with so much conviction, it felt like a swarm of butterflies had been let loose in my stomach. “Do you know that, too?”

His eyes now held me prisoner and all I could do was mouth the word Yes.

Excerpt

She sucks on her lip while I gaze at her, wondering what the hell this is all supposed to mean. It looks so goddamn innocent and strangely attractive at the same time. But I feel guilty for thinking about things like that right now. Shit. I should be dealing with this on my own. Instead I’m leaning toward a girl I don’t even know. Maybe it’s just the pain speaking, but I feel like I want to hug her tight. I barely know her, and yet I feel she is the only thing that’s keeping me standing right now.

“You look like you could use some help,” she says hesitantly.

I don’t understand this girl at all. I’ve been treating her like shit, and still she cares enough to want to help me.

However, her offering me help frightens me. Not because it’s her, but because I apparently look so awful that I seem in need of help. It’s only a confirmation of looking like shit, and I don’t want anyone to know that I really feel that way. I can’t risk having anyone care about me. Not now. Not knowing that I’m about to join a gang.

I don’t want to put her in the middle of this too.

I turn around and walk toward her, trying to look as menacing as possible. My burden is weighing down upon me, every step I take feeling heavier. I don’t want to scare her, but I want her to know that she should be wary of me. That she shouldn’t even want to get close to me. I don’t want her to get involved, and I can’t use the distraction. It’s the best thing for us both.

The only problem is, I’m just telling myself that.

In reality, I want nothing more than closeness. But what I want isn’t always the right thing.

I place both my hands on the wall beside her, trapping her between me and the wall. She can’t go anywhere without me getting ahold of her. The thought alone is exciting.

My blood is pumping to my cock. If this was any other day, and any other girl, I’d grab her and put my hands all over that tiny body of hers, kissing my way to her soft spots. I bet she has plenty of unexplored, luscious skin. I’d love to put my lips on her.

Mindless sex wouldn’t be something I’d refuse right now. I could use the momentary escape from reality with all that’s been happening.

But I don’t want that with her. She’s too innocent, too sweet. Too reluctant. Not like the girls I usually go for. Not the type that would give me a fun night without wanting more. Although I do love the fight.

Strangely, I don’t even want all of that from her. What I want right now is to hold her tight, to bury my head in her pine-scented neck and drift away into a long, endless sleep.

I lower my head, peering into her vivid blue eyes, which are full of anxiety. Her whole body is shivering, and her quivering lip makes me want to press my lips against hers.

I’ve never hungered this much for a trembling girl. What’s wrong with me?

Excerpt

I see someone who looks vaguely familiar at the bar. She has long black hair and large round eyes. It bugs me that I don’t remember where I saw her before. I have a good memory when it comes to people. Especially women. And especially when they look like her.

It’s only when she tucks a strand of hair behind her ear that it hits me where I saw her before, making that same gesture—last year at the award ceremony of that math contest I sponsored. She was the mentor. I grasp my empty glass firmly in my hand, remembering the details of that day. It took me long enough to forget them. I look around for that rat of a boyfriend who was with her then, but he isn’t anywhere. The only person she seems to be with is the inebriated blonde sitting next to her at the bar.

I scrutinize her, trying to understand what she’s doing in a place like this. She doesn’t belong here. I’m not exactly sure where she belongs, but it’s not here. At any rate, she didn’t strike me as a particularly outgoing type of girl when she was on that stage. I think I know why she’s here. I’ve seen this look before in women. The hunched shoulders. The unsure gaze. Yes, she wears the unmistakable signs of someone who’s been dumped, and who’s trying, but failing, to forget about it. These signs in women usually make me want to run in the opposite direction.

This time, it has an entirely different effect on me. It makes me want to do what I didn’t have the courage to do last year. Walk up to her. I wanted to make her smile then. The haunted look she had in her eyes back then isn’t as visible now, but it lingers there somewhere. Just like it lingers in me. When it takes over again, I want to make sure she has someone who can put a smile on her beautiful face.

And I still want to taste her lips and those delicious-looking breasts, just like I wanted back then.

Our love is on his terms. He contacts me only through notes − unpredictable and untraceable. When we meet, he can touch me, but I’m not allowed to touch him. When we make love, it’s only after I have been bound and blindfolded. It’s the only time I truly feel alive. Which is why I play along with it. For now.

Caden Thaine is the most sinfully beautiful man I have ever seen. But more than that, his touch sets me on fire. And dear God, do I ache for him. I don’t know where he lives or even what he does. But this doesn’t scare me. My only fear is that one day his messages will stop. I know he’s hiding something. But that’s okay. I am hiding things, too. Like my real name and… who I really am. But the deeper I fall for him, the stronger my curiosity grows.

I could never have imagined just how much our lives are bound. And that pulling at his tangled web of secrets would cause my own dark past to come back to try and reclaim me. Will we survive? Will our love?

Adult romantic suspense. +18 years.

Excerpt

“You… You’re not mad that I’m not wearing the dress?”

He laughs and the sound rolls over me, silk over gravel. “No. I wouldn’t get mad if you said you didn’t want to do something I asked you to.” He grins and leans closer. “I would instead make it so that you didn’t want to say no.”

His finger strokes along the back of my neck, a light touch that awakens my nerve endings all the way down my back. I have to fight not to visibly shudder. Stupid carnal needy body. I can’t deny that a part of me wants to say yes to him. But he can’t know this. I have to regain my control over this conversation and myself.

“Ha!” I scoff. “You’re so sure of yourself.”

“You think I’m being unnecessarily arrogant.”

“You are.”

“You just think that because you don’t know what’s coming.” He leans his face in close to mine. So close I can feel his breath rushing around my cheeks. His green eyes crackle with fire. “You’ll say yes to me, kitten. You’ll say yes to me and only me. You know how I know?”

I shake my head, trying to swallow but failing. The heat emanating off him is so intense it has caused my mouth to go dry. With his nose he nudges my cheek to the side so he can access my neck.

His voice, so low and hot, fucks my ear. “I’m going to make you feel so good that it’ll ruin you for all other men.”

Oh dear God.

about the author

Hanna PeachHanna began to write at the tender age of seven, starting with a daring and questionable autobiography entitled Go Suck a Lemon. Perhaps it was a little before its time.

After leaving school she agreed with everyone who said she needed to get a degree and a real job to become a proper adult. She kept writing as a hobby. After starting (and never finishing) several degrees and switching from multiple careers, she finally decided that being a real adult was overrated. In 2012, she sold everything, moved to Europe and began to write full-time.

Eternally restless, Hanna has lived in Indonesia, Australia, Germany and Scotland. She is currently residing in England.

She is addicted to coffee and chocolate and would one day like to own a dragon.

Hanna Peach is the author of the Dark Angel urban fantasy series and Bound romantic suspense series. Angelblood (Dark Angel #4) and Bound by Fear (Bound #2) are due for publication in 2014.

I wasn’t going to let her be punished for the bad luck that I was at her window when the bank was held up.

I would protect her.

And I would bring these fuckers down.

The symbol on my back gave me an automatic in. The badge attached to my real name gave me the authority to do what I thought was necessary. These guys thought they were getting an ally.

They were wrong.

I glanced out the window, noting we were heading out of downtown Raleigh and traveling into one of the nearby towns. The driver played it smart, not driving erratically, not drawing any kind of attention to the van. He obeyed all the traffic laws and stayed within the speed limit.

A minivan was a good choice because it looked like a mom car, not a criminal mobile. Cops probably wouldn’t look twice at it unless it was driving at unusual speeds.

Plus, it had room in the back for all the stolen money.

A million questions bounced around in my head. I wondered where we were going. How long they planned to drive. What their plans were now. But I didn’t ask because crew members always played it cool. They always acted like they had things under control. If I started acting fidgety, nervous, or questionable, it would not be good for me. Or Taylor.

I glanced down to find her looking at me. Her green eyes were tight with pain and they latched onto my face as if the only thing anchoring her to consciousness was me.

I felt the weight of her green-eyed stare like an anvil around my neck. I swallowed, trying to get some air past the tight feeling closing my throat. Usually in these situations, the only person I had to look after was myself.

And if I were honest, then I would admit the reason I made such a good undercover cop was because I didn’t really care much about what happened to me. They always say the most dangerous man is a man with nothing to lose. Well, that’s me. For years I lived by that code. For years I put myself in death’s path, pushing the limits, stepping over the boundaries between right and wrong.

It always paid off.

Yet as Taylor’s emerald eyes watched me, I felt the chains of responsibility wrap around my chest. Suddenly, I had someone to worry about that wasn’t me. Suddenly, the thought of losing the way she held on to me as if her life depended on it seemed like a very big thing.

“Where are we going?” I asked, my voice a little harsher than I intended.

Eyes met mine in the rearview mirror. “You’ll see.”

“She needs medical attention,” I bit out, not caring if I sounded challenging.

Her slim, cold fingers wrapped around my forearm. The impulse to cover her light, cold grip with mine was strong, but my arms were supporting her body and I couldn’t risk taking away that support.

“You’re gonna be okay,” I told her, keeping my voice as low as I could.

Her fingers tightened around my arm.
