Now here’s an excerpt from Bitten by a Hellcat! ❤

excerpt

A ripple of heat travelled through Owen and he became aware of the beautiful woman beside him.

Staring at him.

He slowly turned his head towards her as Kyter walked away. Blue eyes met his, turning the ripple of heat into an inferno that blasted through his veins, burning up his blood. A corona of brighter blue fire shone around her dilated pupils as she stared into his eyes, radiating confidence that shook his own.

She was more beautiful than he had thought.

Incredible.

Owen could only stare at her in silence as she looked at him, her long black lashes and dark make-up framing striking blue eyes.

A hellcat.

They were the rarest of the cat shifters and fetched high prices on the black market of Hell.

He had never seen one of her kind, not in all his years as a hunter or during all of the training that had come before them. He doubted that even the hunters who worked for Archangel, the world’s leading hunter organisation devoted to protecting the unwitting humans from the secret and often dangerous world of fae and demons, had seen a hellcat.

She turned her cheek to him and flagged a bartender. Owen didn’t pay any attention to who served her. He couldn’t take his eyes off her as she spoke, her painted red lips moving in a mesmerising symphony, filling him with a fierce need to kiss her.

It was only when she turned back to face him and slid a glass across the black bar top in his direction that he became aware of something else in the club. His pale gaze dropped to the drink she had evidently bought for him.

A shot of Hellfire.

Heck, she was trying to kill him.

Hellfire was a vicious drink brewed by the non-humans, designed to overcome their constitutions and get them drunk.

The female hellcat slid onto the stool beside him, picked up her own shot glass filled to the brim with the black liquid and raised it.

Her wicked smile made it clear that she was testing him. She knew he was mortal and she wanted to see what he would do and whether he could survive downing the potent shot of alcohol. He was up for that challenge. He took a deep breath to steel himself, grabbed his shot glass and lifted it, saluting her.

Owen raised it to his lips.

“Wait.” Her light melodic voice stopped him dead and he stared at her, the glass close to his lips, the fumes coming off the liquid singeing his nose.

She flagged the bartender again, her smile turning even more wicked.

When the only female and human bartender working for the club stopped on the other side of the bar, his little hellcat fluttered her eyelashes and dropped a huge hammer on his male pride.

“Can we get a glass of water for when he chokes?”

Owen glared at the bartender, Sherry, warning the blonde not to do as the woman had requested.

Sherry barely managed to hold back her smile and went ahead and kicked him in the balls while he was down by serving up a tall glass of ice-cold water, setting it right down in front of him, her eyes twinkling.

He narrowed his eyes on the water, shoved it away and pinned his gaze back on the female hellcat. She raised her glass, her smile mocking him now. A slow smile spread across his face as he lifted his shot of Hellfire and saluted her again. She didn’t know who she was dealing with if she thought this was going to play out the way she wanted it, ending with him coughing up a lung and downing the water.

Owen brought the shot up to his lips, holding her gaze the whole time, staring deep into her eyes. She paused with her glass near her lips, her smile fading as the air between them thickened and sparked with electricity, awareness that zinged through his body. He didn’t close his eyes. He kept them locked with hers as he tipped his head back and swallowed the entire contents of the glass.

The liquid burned like the fire it was named after as it slid down his throat and turned his stomach into a pit of churning lava. An inferno swept through him but he held it together, refusing to give the slightest indication of the discomfort he was suffering as his entire body burned and his head turned, his vision swimming slightly from the sudden rise in his blood alcohol level.

He slowly set the glass down, lowered his head, and licked his lips.

Her blue gaze narrowed and she knocked her shot back, slammed the glass down on the black bar top, and stared at him.

Tears lined her long lashes.

Her lips compressed and trembled.

Her right eye developed a vicious tic.

Owen calmly pressed two fingers against the side of the ice-cold glass of water and pushed it along the bar towards her, the condensation on it rolling down and leaving a trail behind it. She glared at the glass, straightened and managed a smile.

He wasn’t sure what the point of her entire competition had been, but he had the feeling that he had won and she didn’t like it.

She leaned back, brushed her long black hair from her face, and fixed him with her blue eyes and a smile that shook him to his core.

“I don’t often see your kind around,” she said over the pounding music and leaned closer to him.

Owen fought to stop himself from looking down at her cleavage, casually leaned his left elbow on the bar and smiled at her. “It’s not every day I get to see a genuine hellcat. One of the Devil’s own.”

Born of a land of brimstone and fire where only the strongest survived.

Her kin were the most powerful, and dangerous, shifter species out there. His father would have killed to have met one.

She leaned even closer and ran her right hand down his forearm where it rested on the bar, her light caress heating his skin even through his black shirtsleeve. Her smile turned sultry and a little bit wicked again, making his heart pound harder and his thoughts turn back to kissing her.

“Do you want to see the real me?” Her eyes held him, the fiery blue corona around her pupils burning brighter, making part of him believe she would change right here and show him her cat form if he admitted he wanted to see it, even when the rest of him knew she was teasing. “I can see you’re dying to see it.”

Flirting.

Definitely flirting with him.

He had enough life experience to know when a woman was flirting with him, but for some reason he hadn’t expected it from her. Non-human females were rarely interested in him, especially when they knew what he did for a living as she did. She could have any pick of the males in the club who had been staring at her all night, most of them shifters and fae, and some demons. Males who were still staring at her, and who were shooting him deadly looks. He could almost feel them butchering him in their heads as the female sat with him and he had a feeling he wouldn’t survive the night if she did more than just sit beside him and casually flirt.

Owen frowned as he thought back over the hour that had passed since he had first spotted her.

She hadn’t looked at any of the men who had tried to dance with her.

She had paid them zero attention.

She hadn’t moved into the throng to find a lucky partner more suited to her tastes either.

She had remained at the edge of the dance floor.

Directly in front of him.

Owen stared at her as it struck him hard.

She had been flirting with him the whole time, trying to get his attention and hold it locked on her.

“What if I said yes?” He leaned closer to her, studying her face for a reaction, a tiny flicker of hope or insecurity, something to confirm his suspicions that she had actually singled him out from the moment she had walked into the club.

He had seen her enter, a little out of breath as if she had been running and a little on edge. Her eyes had met his across the club and she had stared at him for a moment before disappearing from view, only to reappear a short time later on the dance floor.

Owen placed his right hand over hers where it rested on his left forearm and looked deep into her striking eyes. “Would you show me just how beautiful you are?”

A blush climbed her cheeks and she took her hand away. “You might not live to tell the tale.”

He reached towards her and caught her right hand, bringing it back to him, toying with her slender fingers. Black nails. A hint of what she would look like if she shifted. She was right and he was dying to see her other form. He only had rumours to go on, but if she transformed, she would without a doubt be the most incredible thing he had ever seen.

He raised his eyes back to hers.

Heck, she was already the most incredible thing he had ever seen.

“I can handle myself,” he husked and her cheeks darkened further. “I can handle you.”

He moved his fingers beneath hers, brushed his thumb over them, and lifted her hand to his lips. He stopped just short, so his mouth hovered bare millimetres from her skin, and she stared at him, her blue eyes wide and entrancing, her lips parted as she breathed harder. The intense sense of anticipation that filled her swirled through him too, cranking him tighter inside and making him itch to drop a kiss on her knuckles, fulfilling both of their desires.

He held her gaze instead and swept his thumb across the backs of her fingers as he spoke, his breath washing over her hand.

“So will you make my wildest dreams come true?”

The Fates are cackling their bony asses off…

It’s been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they’ve given him have been violent and bloody–which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He’s got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.

Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy’s deal might be, but it’s a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.

But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all.

Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.

Now here’s an excerpt from The Return! ❤

excerpt

I was a half-blood, but I was also the Apollyon, a child of a pure and a half, a union that had been forbidden for thousands of years because an Apollyon was more powerful than any pure or half could ever hope to be.

And I always got to the traitors’ hideouts before they did, so the Sentinels were usually left with the cleanup, which I was sure absolutely thrilled them.

The first to enter was a female half-blood dressed just as I was. Her black hair was pulled back in a neat little knot at the top of her head. She was older, probably in her mid-thirties. It was pretty rare for a Sentinel to live that long. Her dark skin paled as she stopped just inside the entrance. She clenched titanium daggers in her hands like she expected something vicious to pop out from under the bloody mess.

The female Sentinel tipped her chin up, and the overhead light sliced across her broad cheekbones. She bore a jagged scar under her right eye, the skin lighter in tone. She saw me and froze.

My smile widened.

Behind her, another Sentinel rushed in, almost mowing her over. He saw me and whispered, “Seth.”

He’d said my name like I was the monster under his bed, and I sort of liked that. Then another Sentinel and another rolled in. The fifth took one look at my interior design work and keeled over. Slamming his hands on his knees, he hurled up his dinner.

Nice.

Our society existed completely unknown to the average mortal and had operated under what was known as the Breed Order for thousands of years. The Order had been dismantled, which meant halfs were no longer forced to choose between becoming Sentinels—hunting down violent creatures, protecting pures, enforcing laws, and otherwise usually dying pretty damn quickly on the job—or servants, which was a job that really wasn’t a job, but more like slavery. Since then, many pampered pures had signed on to be Sentinels, making up for the loss of the halfs who’d pretty much said “screw this shit, I’m out.”

This wasn’t necessarily a good thing.

For example, the dumbass puking all over my blood-covered floor was a pure. When he straightened, his face a greenish hue, he backed away, shaking his head. “I can’t,” he gasped out. “I can’t do this.”

Then he turned and hauled ass out the doors.
I sighed. This was why we couldn’t have nice things.

The Return is the first book in the Titan series, but the Titan series is a spinoff of the Covenant series, which I highly recommend reading first! Seth first appears in this series.

Bleu’s POV

I touch the screen. I stroke my finger down his face but it feels nothing like the real thing. I close my eyes so I can imagine the way his scruff felt against my skin.

He rarely grew what I would call a beard. He always kept his facial hair short and scruffy. And I loved it, especially when he would drag his face down the center of my body just to hear me squeal. But the best was when he’d push the crotch of my panties aside and rub his chin up and down between my legs.

“Holy shit, Bleu. That’s him, isn’t it?” I jerk when I hear Ellison’s voice over my shoulder. “That’s the man you were with in Scotland.”

I’m so stupid. I can’t believe I’ve allowed her to sneak up and catch me looking at this photograph. I was preoccupied. That’s my only excuse.

Ellison has interrogated me nonstop about my relationship with Sin. I’ve been vague. She’s on a need-to-know-only basis. That means I haven’t told her shit. But I want to. I need someone to tell me this excruciating pain in my heart is going to ease.

“Yes.” That’s my Breck. My admission feels like a ton of bricks lifted from my shoulders.

“Damn. That is one hottie Scottie.”

“I know.” I sigh as I prop my chin in my hand. I look at the handsome face of the only man in this world besides my father who has been willing to take me the way I am.

Two men. Both know the darkness I carry inside. But they love me anyway.

I’ve lost one. I’m losing the other. And it’s killing me.

“My God, Bleu. Look at the way he’s holding you … like you’re his everything. I don’t know how you walked away from him.”

You’d be surprised by the things you can do when you’re staring death in the face.

“My job was over.”

“You haven’t told me anything about it. Or him. Was it good?”

I recall the words he used to describe what being together was like for him. “The best ever.”

“You don’t think you’ll see him again?”

“No.” I won’t if I want to continue to live.

He looked abashed. “We didn’t just have to leave the party, we got kicked out of the hotel too.”

“Evicted from your room?”

“Yup. And there aren’t any others available in all of Casper.”

“I know,” she said. “It’s why I’m camped out here.” She paused to digest what he’d left unsaid. “So you and Rachel?”

He shook his head with a scowl “We’re done now. Quits.”

“You’re kidding.”

“Nope. History. Case closed.”

“It’ll blow over.”

“Don’t think so. It was her idea to boot us. Said she didn’t give a shit if I had a room tonight or not. Then I couldn’t even try finding anything outside of town because my asshole brother took my keys so I wouldn’t drive. My next move was to pilfer a blanket and pillow and camp out under the stars in my truck bed, but then it started pouring on me.”

“So you came here. How’d you do that with no wheels?”

“Walked.”

“Three miles in the pouring rain? No wonder you look like something the cat dragged in.”

“Can I crash for a coupla hours? Maybe just camp out in the back seat of your dually? All I need is to get warm and dry again.”

Janice’s mouth went dry as sawdust. Dirk Knowlton. Cold. Wet. Here. Now. Wanting a bed? She’d give her right arm to warm him up. Heck yeah.

Misreading her silence he mumbled a curse. “Sorry, Janice. It’s my damned head. I’m not thinkin’ right. It’s still throbbing like hell. Haven’t been myself all night. M’pologies for being such a dumb-ass and imposing on you—” He turned to the door.

“No! Wait. It’s not that.” She grabbed his sleeve. “I was just thinking of your injuries. You don’t need to make matters worse by sleeping all cramped up in the truck.” She gnawed her lower lip and then blurted. “Y-you wanna just stay here instead?”

“Here? That’s mighty generous but there isn’t a whole lot of room for both of us.” He glanced up at the gooseneck with a frown. “If you’ll just gimme a blanket, I’ll take the floor.”

“You don’t need to do that,” she said. “The bench here flips down over the table and converts into a single. It’s really narrow and not very comfortable, but still better than the truck. Warmer anyway. Besides you need to get dry.”

“You sure about this?” he asked.

“Yeah.” She smiled. “What are friends for? I’m sure I’ve got a shirt for you too.”

“Thanks, Red. That would be great.”

Red? The single syllable rippled warm and tingly, all the way to her toes. He followed up with a lopsided grin that stopped her in her tracks. She turned to the small cabinet that served a dual function as dresser and closet and shut her eyes on a sigh—but the same air stuck in her throat the minute she turned back around.

He’d shed the denim jacket. And the black tee. His bare torso with well-developed pecs and a mouthwatering six pack greeted her. He was drying his face with his discarded shirt. Janice tore her gaze away and cleared her throat. “Here.” She thrust an extra-large Dixie Chicks T-shirt into his hands, a souvenir from their Top of the World Tour. “I—I can get you a towel too.”

He eyed the shirt skeptically. “No thanks.”

“What? You don’t like female musicians?”

“Don’t like their politics. Natalie should just shut up and sing.”

“Ah.” She nodded slowly. The shirt was from the tour that caused the “incident.” A lot of her friends had since thrown out their Dixie Chicks CDs, but Janice still loved their music. “I Can Love You Better” was her favorite. The lyrics, she’s got you wrapped up in her satin and lace. Tied around her little finger…but I can love you better, perfectly summed up all the heartbreak and frustrations of unrequited love; all her secret feelings for Dirk. She only wished she could show him now that he was here. In the flesh. A big strong, blue-lipped and teeth-chattering fantasy come true.

A howl woke her.

Celeste sat up and looked around the room.

The sun had finally gone down sometime after ten. Now the stars were brilliant, and a yellow moon was casting an amazing level of light in the nighttime hours.

There was a whimper and then another long howl.

Alaskan wolves.

She could sleep when she got back to Southern California.

She got up and hurried into her jeans. Only the range light was on in the kitchen, but with so much moonlight coming through the windows, it was easy to get to the mudroom and lace up her boots.

She opened the outer door slowly, sliding through to keep from moving it too much. A howl sounded, so much louder now that she was outside. She pressed the door shut and knelt down.

The starlight illuminated the wolves. At least six of them were pawing the ground as they moved along the road that connected the house with the test facility offices. Those offices weren’t even in sight.

But the wolves were.

And so was Nartan.

He was crouched down twenty feet away. Her breath caught as she took in the way he blended with the moment. The wolves made yipping sounds as they came closer, smelling the road and the air as they went.

Nartan lifted his hand and beckoned her toward him. Her steps seemed too noisy, the crunching sounds grating on her ears. A wolf looked toward her and she froze.

Nartan beckoned again, turning to look at her.

The animal was still fifty feet away, but it was looking toward her. She bit her lower lip, afraid of spooking the animal.

Nartan closed in on her, moving right up next to her.

“He can smell you. You’re upwind. Come down here with me. He won’t worry about you then.”

“Oh…”

Nartan clasped her hand and pulled her down to where he’d been. He lifted his head, judging the wind. The wolf let out a yip and joined the rest as they scratched at the dirt and one another. Two of them would circle another, lowering their heads and yipping. The wolf in the center was the one who lifted its head and let out a long howl.

“The alpha…” Nartan whispered.

He had his arm draped around her, his scent filling her senses.

Why did he smell so good?

Not that it really mattered. He was still as pond water but his skin was warm. His attention was on the wolves, but she felt like it was on her as well. He shifted just a bit, and inhaled next to her hair.

Fresh from bed, it was a soft cloud. She reached up, self–conscious about how messy it was. He caught her hand and stopped her as the alpha looked at them. The animal’s eyes were pools of moonlight. Its mouth was open, giving her a glimpse of its long canine teeth. It made a low sound before pushing its front paws out and stretching its neck up and tilting its head until its nose pointed at the moon. A long, mournful cry filled the night.

It felt like she was suspended in time. They might have been anywhere, in any year.

“Lower your head.”

He tucked his chin and cupped her nape.

“To show submission…”

Celeste stiffened. Nartan chuckled in a bare whisper next to her ear. “To the alpha.”

She bent, the wolf watching her before losing interest and moving along with the pack.

Nartan massaged her neck, his fingers working the stiffness from the muscles as she straightened. “Well done.”

It felt like there was innuendo in his comment. But maybe she was just being too sensitive.

To–be–dealt–with list.

She drew in a deep breath and forced herself to relax. The wolves were moving away now, heading toward a forested area. The alpha looked back at them before it disappeared into the timber.

“That was amazing,” she whispered.

Nartan’s hand was under her hair, the touch so intimate that she was loath to pull away. He threaded his fingers through her hair, pulling his hand free as he finger–combed the strands. He watched her as he did it, his eyes reflecting the moonlight just as the alpha’s had.

He was in his element.

Call it cheesy or lame but she couldn’t shake it.

So she rose, backing away from him as he stood. His shirt was open all the way down his front, his jeans sagging low on his waist because he didn’t have a belt on. And his feet were bare.

“Aren’t you cold?”

He slowly smiled and extended his hand. “Judge for yourself.”

She started to reach for him and froze. Indecision held her in its grip as the wind blew her hair around. One of his dark eyebrows rose as she hesitated.

Chicken…

She reached out and touched him. Allowed her fingertips to rest on his forearm for a moment that felt like a mini eternity. It ended when he twisted his arm around and captured her wrist. He stepped up to her, pulling her toward him. She could have broken the hold, if she was able to think.

Which she wasn’t.

Her brain seemed to have shut down. Somehow, she was caught in a storm of sensations, completely unwilling to think about anything. She simply wanted to experience the moment.

Well, it was quite a moment.

Rich with scents and sensations that were intoxicating. His breath teased her ear and then her cheek. A shudder shook her, sending a tiny gasp through her lips. Nartan took advantage of her parted lips, pressing his down on top of them and tasting them slowly.

God, how long had it been since she’d been kissed?

Pleasure flowed through her, gaining strength like a flame catching a wick. Sure, she knew that a candle was for lighting, but until it was lit, the memory of how bright it could shine was dim.

She stepped back. Startled by how much she liked his kiss.

She wanted more.

A hell of a lot more.

But she turned and headed back into the house before she could do anything impulsive.

Moon madness. That was all.

Only she wasn’t really sure if she would ever be sane again.
