Oh. My. GOD! I honestly didn’t think Lady Thief could meet the high expectations I had after Scarlet, but Lady Thief blew me away! It’s a stunning, incredible sequel to Scarlet. I wholeheartedly loved Lady Thief, with its cast of unforgettable, lovable characters and unique writing. If you loved Scarlet, Lady Thief will not disappoint you! And if you haven’t read Scarlet, you really should–A.C. Gaughen’s Scarlet series is one of my favorite series ever! It’s an action-packed historical fiction, a refreshing fairytale retelling, and a heart-stopping romance all wrapped into one mind-blowing package.

“I love you, Scarlet. Go on, now, before you steal my sanity too,” he said.
“Too?” I questioned.
His grin by the moon were wicked and handsome. “Thief of my heart.”

Lady Thief follows shortly after Scarlet’s ending (and can I just say how THANKFUL I am that A.C. Gaughen wrote a sequel to Scarlet? Because I am so, so happy she did). Scarlet’s true identity as a woman of high class, as Marian of Leaford, is finally out in the open, the love between Scarlet and Rob has blossomed, but things aren’t exactly going well right now. For one thing, Scarlet is married to Lord Gisbourne, who is an evil man. Scarlet had to marry Gisbourne in order to save Rob, who was tortured horribly. Rob is safe now, but he constantly has nightmares in which he harms Scarlet in his sleep. There’s tension brewing between Robin Hood and his Merry Men, but there’s no doubt that all of them, Rob, Scarlet, John, and Much, will stick by each other through thick and thin. I’d missed the four of them, and I loved revisiting the bonds and camaraderie between them again.

Scarlet is once again a total badass in Lady Thief. I adore Scarlet. She’s a fierce, strong, compassionate girl who loves with all her heart, and will protect those she loves with everything she has. In Lady Thief, she always puts those she loves above herself–she’d give her life for them, and she basically does when she agrees to be a proper wife for her husband. Even in the midst of political drama including a cruel, despicable prince, Scarlet never gives up and never goes down without a fight. She fights for the people of her town, and especially for Rob and for their love. I love her for her perseverance, for fighting to have the future she wants with Rob. It’s an incredibly difficult road getting to their happily ever after, but Scarlet doesn’t give up.

And do you know what A.C. Gaughen has done to me? She’s made me fall head over heels in love with Robin Hood. I never gave a crap about the fairy tale Robin Hood before, but then I read about Scarlet’s Rob and it was love at first page. In Lady Thief, he’s a little broken after his torture, and attacking Scarlet in his sleep isn’t helping him get better. Even though the book is in Scarlet’s POV, I could just feel his shame and agony over hurting Scarlet, even unintentionally, because he just loves her so much. He’s such a vivid character, someone I can conjure up in my mind so easily. He’s loyal, compassionate, loving, and he has such a kind heart. He’s a thoroughly good man, and he and Scarlet are absolutely perfect for each other.

“It’s strange,” he said low in my ear. “When night falls my chest is full of fear, but holding you like this, Scar, I can’t help but feel grateful. Joyous. By the light of day, I still cannot fathom that I’m the one you love.”
I turned a little to look at him. “I do love you. I always will.”

Oh my goodness, my heart flutters every single time Rob opens his mouth. He and Scarlet are so much more romantic in Lady Thief, and I was grinning so much! They fight so hard to find a way to annul Scarlet’s marriage to Gisbourne, and they won’t stop until they can finally be together out in the open. They have a captivating, passionate love that made me swoon and sigh. It’s sometimes painful too, because they just have so many obstacles in the way of their happily ever after.

“These schemes may benefit the people, Scarlet, but I fight for you.” His hands squeezed my waist a little bit, and it made my blood run fast. “I will always fight for you.”

The other characters in Lady Thief are just as compelling as Scarlet and Rob. They all have their distinctive personalities, even the evil characters, and they made Lady Thief such a great book to read. There’s never a dull moment, and especially in the second half of the book, I was at the edge of my seat, nearly biting my nails. Things get intense in this book, and I loved every second of it!

Lady Thief is an absolute must read–Scarlet fans, you don’t want to miss this one! This whole series is brilliant–the story is executed perfectly, and the characters are so consuming to read about. I highly, highly recommend the Scarlet series–it’s unputdownable and unforgettable!

I am shamelessly addicted to staying up far too late (it feels like stealing time), diet coke (it burns so good), Scotland (stupid country stole my heart and won’t give it back. Interpol has been ineffective for prosecution) and thieves (so I guess I’m not that mad at Scotland).

Leah Marino hasn’t been on a date in two years. After discovering the man she loved had manipulated and deceived her, she refuses to even entertain the idea of a relationship. Instead, she focuses her attention on taking care of her family, a role she’s assumed since the death of her mother and the one place she knows her kindness won’t be taken advantage of again.

When a nostalgic trip back to her childhood home results in a chance encounter with Danny DeLuca, a smart-mouthed mechanic who’s as attractive as he is mysterious, Leah’s carefully cultivated walls begin to crumble. She finds herself unexpectedly drawn to Danny, despite his unreliable behavior and mixed signals.

But Danny has a secret…

One that could shake Leah’s already precarious foundation and bring her world crashing down around her. Suddenly, she’s faced with an incredibly difficult decision–is she willing to risk everything for the chance at finding the love she’s always wanted? Or are some obstacles just too big for the heart to overcome?

review

This is my first time reading Priscilla Glenn, and I wholeheartedly LOVED Coming Home! I fell in love with the writing, and while it took a while for me to warm up to the main characters, soon I was swept away by them and their romance. Coming Home is heartfelt, emotional, and so very romantic, and I’m so impressed with Priscilla Glenn’s writing.

“Leah,” he said, his voice rough with emotion. “I could suffer through anything if you were my reward.”

Leah and Danny both have baggage, but when they meet, they’re so perfect together. Their characters slowly build throughout the novel, and I found myself completely hooked onto their story pretty soon into the book. Leah is a kind, compassionate, and although hesitant to love another man after being betrayed by one, she very much loves her family. Leah I found myself a bit hard to connect with in the beginning, but as I kept reading and knowing more about her character, I soon admired her for being such a strong woman. And she’s so witty and fun with Danny! I loved what Danny brought out in her. I would be smiling so much at the interactions between them, because they’re so freaking sweet!

“Do you have any idea how perfect you are?” he whispered.
Leah dropped her eyes. “I’m far from perfect.”
She felt his fingers under her chin, lifting her gaze back to his.
“You’re perfect for me,” he amended.

Danny was such an intriguing character. He’s one of the good guys, but his past kept making a jerk out of him. He’d be completely into Leah one moment, and then abrupt and rude to her then next. It was very back and forth, BUT the more you find out about him, the more you fall in love with. He’s the kind of guy you would totally marry–he’s loyal, loving, hard-working, and can be so charming when he wants to. I really really wanted to find out his secret, but really, I just wanted more Danny, because he’s just so sweet and charming.

Leah and Danny are just perfect together! Like I said before, I loved ALL their conversations and interactions. In the beginning, when they first get to know each other, it’s a very slow buildup of their romance. They’re shy, they’re cute, they’re sweet–they made me smiling so much! I was swooning madly at their romance. And when they finally get together, it’s very deep, sensual, and emotional–which I love!

“I need you,” he said hoarsely. “I need you, Leah.”
“I’m yours,” she promised. “Always.”

Danny’s secret creates a rift between Leah and Danny, but I loved the way the both of them handled their troubles. They are very mature people, and because Leah is so compassionate, she’s able to accept Danny for who he is, baggage and all. Their romance was absolutely beautiful. The way they give each other the love and support they both need, especially once Danny’s secret is out, is so heartfelt. Danny’s secret broke my heart. Here, the story was so poignant and moving, and I even cried as I got swept up in the emotions.

Coming Home won over my heart. The writing is brilliant, and Priscilla Glenn has created a wonderful set of characters. I highly recommend reading this.

Chapter 7

Out of nowhere Jonathan nearly tackles me, hoisting me over his shoulder.

“You son of a bitch,” I screech, whaling my fists on his back. “Put me down!”

“Hey, Nora! Anyone in the VIP room?” he asks through my shrieks, hauling me that way. “Red and I need the couch and a thermometer for a science experiment. How hot is backstage sex between a rocker and an exotic dancer? Will spontaneous combustion occur? Inquiring minds want to know.”

“Put her down, you Neanderthal! She’s got work to do!” Nora yells up the hall behind us, but Jonathan has already turned the corner into the VIP room.

“Hello.”

I freeze, mid-shriek, as Harrison’s warm honey drawl trickles over me, sending a shiver up my spine.

Jonathan unclamps a hand from my legs. “Sorry, man. Didn’t know anyone was in here.”

I break free from his loosened grip and slide off his shoulder, suddenly acutely aware that Harrison has a very unflattering view of my ass. “You moron,” I mutter, shoving Jonathan, once my boots are back on the floor.

Nora comes up behind us and grabs Jonathan by the scruff of the neck, dragging him out of the room.

“Inquiring minds want to know!” he calls, just as the door snaps shut.

“Your boyfriend?” Harrison asks with a flick of his eyes at the door.

“Hell, no!” I can’t read his expression. Does it bother him that I might have one?

He gestures at the sofa with a tip of his head. “So you were donating your body to science, so to speak.”

“He’s just a friend.” Goddamn Jonathan. I’m going to strangle him in his sleep. “A really stupid friend.”

He nods slowly, and whatever he was trying so hard to hide in his expression slips into something altogether different. Something he doesn’t hide at all as his glacial eyes rake over me. Something hot and hungry. Something possessive. The caress of his gaze raises goose bumps everywhere and tightens my nipples, and it’s everything I can do not to squirm under his scrutiny. He settles into the sofa and I just stand here for a long second while he continues his perusal of my body, then he tips his head at the sofa. “Have a seat.”

I sit and force my fingers to stop fidgeting with the clip of my garter belt.

“So, no boyfriend?” he asks, and there’s an intensity to the question that unnerves me a little.

“No boyfriend. I’ve really only ever had one.” Oh my God. Why did I just tell him that?

“Me too. That is … one girlfriend,” he clarifies.

“Your fiancée?”

He nods. “How long ago? Your boyfriend, I mean.”

“We broke up a year ago.”

“Were you together long?”

I shake my head. “We were dating for about eight months, but it was long distance.” I don’t tell him the whole time we were together, Trent was in love with someone else, because that just makes me sound pathetic.

“How did you meet?” he asks.

“He untangled his stepsister’s kite string from my braces,” I say, tapping my lips with my finger.

His gaze sticks for a second on my mouth before he lifts it to my eyes. “Braces … ” he says with a tip of his head. “How old where you when you met?”

“Fourteen.”

“So, you knew him for a while before you dated.”

“You could say that.”

He looks at me curiously for a long beat. “There’s a story there.”

I blow out a sigh. “A long and extremely pathetic one.”

“I’m listening.” He settles deeper into the cushions and drapes an arm over the back of the sofa.

I just look at him for a second, trying to gauge if he’s messing with me or if he’s really interested. His liquid gaze is deep and his expression soft but intent. I tip my head back against the sofa and stare at the ceiling. “I was totally in love with him all through high school, and I held out for him for five years, even when he didn’t show any interest, because no one else measured up. So, yeah. I knew him for a while.”

“After all that time, you finally got your man. What happened?”

“He was in love with my best friend … who also happens to be his stepsister.”

There’s a long silence, and I lift my head, but I can’t bring myself to look at him as I tell him things I’ve never said out loud before. “He was practicing with his band in Lexie’s garage, and we were in the driveway flying her kite, but the wind gusted and it did this loop, and the string got caught in my braces. Lexie yanked, I screamed, and when the guys came out of the garage to see what was up, they all started laughing. But not Trent. He came over and got me untangled. And he told the guys to cut the shit when they started calling me Jaws and asking if I got good reception.”

I remember it so clearly.

Hold still, he’d said. He grasped my chin gently and leaned in to examine my mouth. He was a little sweaty from jamming with the guys, and I remember thinking I should think that was gross. But I didn’t. It was the opposite of gross. I’d crushed on a few guys in junior high, but I never remember my heart racing the way it did with Trent so close. He’d unhooked me from the kite, and when he let me go, he smiled this incredible sideways smile and said, Good to go, and that was it.

I sigh and sink deeper onto the cushions. “I fell in love with him right that second. But even though I was under his nose all the time, he never thought of me as anything but his stepsister’s best friend, so, for five years, I pined.”

Smart, sexy Matthew DeLuca is everything she wants in a man, but he’s also her boss—the youngest, hottest vineyard owner in the Napa Valley—and he doesn’t see her as anything more than his shy assistant. That’s all about to change. Armed with a hot new look and an attitude to match, Bryn is determined to catch Matt’s eye… professionalism be damned.

With his winery’s grand reopening approaching, Matt is trying to stay focused, but Bryn is suddenly making it very difficult. He’s always thought her prim demeanor effortlessly sexy, but Matt can’t deny that her transformation is jaw-dropping …and going to make it very difficult to keep his hands to himself.

But when one thing leads to another and suddenly Matt is stripping Bryn bare, he’ll be faced with the biggest risk of his career—and his heart. Can he convince her—and himself—that this might just be more than a no-strings office affair?

The appeal of Billionaire Bachelors

Who doesn’t love a billionaire? Well, I’m sure there are plenty of readers out there who don’t find them that appealing and I can respect that. We all have different tastes and that’s what makes life so interesting, right?

But me? I love a sexy billionaire. I love that it’s still a major trend in romance right now and hasn’t gone away yet. Oh, I love me a regular guy type of romance. I do. Yet there’s something about a man who can have anything he wants, who can buy houses, businesses, yachts, anything…and he always treats his girl like a princess. That’s some major fantasy going on right there.

I think some of the appeal when it comes to billionaires is that they’re like that elusive prince we were told to go in search of when we were little girls. I was raised on Disney movies (Cinderella was a personal favorite) and I wanted to be that girl whose foot fit in the shoe. I remember being envious of Princess Diana. Not because Prince Charles was a hot piece (I mean, come on) but that gown she wore when they were married—to die for. She was a freaking princess and she lived in a giant palace. She gave birth to the future king of England. I thought that was so romantic.

Of course, I had no idea that Prince Charles was a cheating jerk and Diana was a bit of a mess until many years later. I was caught up in the fantasy of it all, you know? Then reality had to come along and stomp its big muddy feet all over my pretty imaginings.

That’s what a billionaire hero in romance books represents to me at least. That gorgeous, sexy prince who’ll fall madly in love with his fair maiden and do anything to make her his. Anything…

In my BILLIONAIRE BACHELORS CLUB series, my three billionaires Archer, Gage and Matt are very sure of themselves. They’re successful businessmen, attractive…they can have anything they want. With Matt though, the hero from the last book in the series SAVOR, he’s not as white knight, I’m gonna make her mine, damn it as the other two. He’s rather conflicted you see.

His fair maiden works for him. And she’s a bit of a mystery. It’s hard for Matt to get a read on Bryn and he’s never had that sort of trouble before. Plus…she’s his assistant and he knows those are treacherous waters he’s wading into.

Bryn has had trouble before with sexist bosses and she doesn’t want to take that risk again. But she’s as drawn to Matt as he’s drawn to her and soon their growing chemistry is too big for them to ignore…

So while Matt may not be as aggressive as Archer and Gage, he certainly knows what he wants. And once he realizes that Bryn wants him too, nothing will stop him from having her. *swoon*
