Sometimes wrong can feel oh so right . . .

Jenna Lacombe needs complete control, whether it’s in the streets . . . or between the sheets. So when she sets out on a solo road trip to visit her family in New Orleans, she’s beyond annoyed that the infuriatingly sexy Jack Oliver wants to hitch a ride with her. Ever since they shared a wild night together last year, he’s been trying to strip away her defenses one by one. He claims he’s just coming along to keep her safe-but what’s not safe for her is prolonged exposure to the tattooed hottie.

Jack can’t get Jenna out from under his skin. She makes him feel alive again after his old life nearly destroyed him-and losing her is not an option. Now Jack’s troubles are catching up to him, and he’s forced to return to his hometown in Louisiana. But when his secrets put them both in harm’s way, Jenna will have to figure out how far she’s willing to let love in . . . and how much she already has.

Now read on for a guest post from Chelsea Fine about TATTOOS! ❤

Tattoos: The Prettiest Storytellers

by Chelsea Fine

Anyone who reads my books knows that I have a minor obsession with body art. Tattoos—and really any other kind of skin branding, such as scars—are prevalent elements in almost all of my stories. I’ve been fascinated with body art since I was a child and this quote from Right Kind of Wrong pretty much sums up why:

“That’s what tattoos are: storytellers. Not always, but most of the time. Some stories we tell with our tongues, in words and kisses and the food we make for others. Other stories are just for ourselves and are told in tattoos and scars and the shields we erect around our hearts.”

I truly believe tattoos tell stories. Scars also tell stories, but tattoos are stories marked on our skin by choice. For memory’s sake, for pride, for individuality…there are a host of reasons for inking your body. It’s one of the most personal, and permanent, forms of art that exists and human beings have been partaking in the ritual since 6000 B.C.

But if you wished to get a tattoo in 6000 B.C., you really had to want it. Back then, the most common to apply body ink was by using a knife to cut a design into the flesh and then rubbing ash and juice into the raw wound so the stain would be trapped below the surface when it healed. Ouch.

This excruciating process says something about how fierce the desire was to brand one’s skin. People were willing to undergo serious pain to stamp their bodies with an image, which proves just how important individual “storytelling” though body ink was 8,000 years ago. And still remains today.

Sure, it’s not as barbaric or painful as it used to be, but people are just as determined to mark their skin with representative symbols today, if not more so than thousands of years ago. Body art is a big deal and, in my opinion, a beautiful pastime.

You would think, with all my love for tattoos, that I’d have plenty of my own to brag about, but no. I don’t have a single tattoo—not because I don’t want any, but because I want too many. If I started getting tattoos, I doubt I’d be able to stop. I’d ink my body until I had no bare skin left.

What kinds of tattoos would I get? Things that symbolized my sister, my husbands, my children, my mother. Things that reflected my love of writing, art, and music. Things that reminded me of the obstacles I’ve overcome and the challenges I still want to face; the way fear immobilizes me and bravery makes me soar. I have too many stories I want to tell. And since tattoos are storytellers, I don’t think I’d ever run short on ideas.

So I stick to writing my stories down in books. All those pieces of me that I want to tattoo on my skin get translated into characters, plot lines, and themes in my books and I’m perfectly fine with that.

But who knows? Maybe someday I’ll decide to get a tattoo, after all. But until then, I’ll be content telling stories with my books and not with my skin. But I will forever enjoy reading the tattoos of others; the prettiest storytellers of all.

I gave him my body, and he gave me no strings. It was that simple… in the beginning.

I never could have imagined my temptation could become my addiction. If I knew for a second how entirely Tyler Stone would consume me, I never would have handed him my body so freely.

His addiction feeds mine. My cravings ignite his. Together we are dangerous. Destructive. Obsessive. Wild.

But now it’s too late. We’re bound by more than our inexplicable need for the other, and the ties that hold us together are irreversible.

He craves my body. I crave his heart.

This is addiction.

excerpt

I never knew true addiction until her. I never truly understood what it is to crave, mind, body and soul, until nothing matters but fulfilling that craving. Until the only thing that matters is easing the hollow ache inside.

It’s there whenever we’re apart. Like a dark hole, it lingers, intensifying until my mind is full of blonde hair and blue-green eyes. Until my mind is full of easy curves, bare before me. Until my desires reflect her bending at the waist, her pert little arse in the air, colored red by my palm, the outline of my fingers visible against her pale skin.

Every day it’s something new, something different, something I never allowed myself to think of. It’s more than against the wall, more than her hands bound, more than a blindfold across her eyes. Now I can think freely, imagine all the ways and all the places I can have her.

Because she trusts me.

And she’s fucking mine.

My Liv. My bitch. My beautiful, flighty bitch.

Now she’s sitting in front of me with her eyes wide and her hands covering her mouth. She’s deathly still. And quiet. So fucking quiet every second that passes cuts deeper than anything she could ever say would.

But she hasn’t moved away from me, either. She’s still sitting in my arms, her legs hooked over mine… Staring at me like it’s the last thing she ever expected me to say.

I run my eyes across her face, taking advantage of her silence just to look at her. Her hair is messy, her blue-green eyes shining, her cheeks flushed. She looks freshly fucked, and she is, but more than that, she looks shocked.

“Liv?” I prompt. “Are you going to say anything?”

Ivan Everley, 13th Baron Rothvale, would admit he’s the last person on earth who should have custody over a priceless collection of art. British law affords him the title of ‘Lord,’ but underneath all the trappings he’s just a regular guy, despite being a world champion in archery, and certain…proclivities of a private nature. But Ivan’s public celebrity is merely a sham–a carefully guarded secret borne out of the pain of betrayal. Even his cousin Ethan Blackstone doesn’t know the truth behind the man he considers a brother.

Lord Rothvale has a plethora of problems piled up to his aristocratic eyeballs, but that doesn’t stop him from complicating his world further when a beautiful art conservationist shows up to appraise his inherited collection of paintings. Once Ivan gets a taste of Gabrielle Hargreave, mistaken identity or not, he can’t think of anything but how good the green-eyed beauty felt in his arms.

The chase is on, and Ivan’s dominant side isn’t taking ‘no’ for an answer–but yet, Gabrielle might just teach our discontented lord a thing or two about life, and about himself, and help them both discover the undeniable truth in what it means to find something genuinely… priceless.

about the author

Raine Miller

Raine Miller has been reading romance novels since she picked up that first Barbara Cartland book at the tender age of thirteen. And it’s a safe bet she’ll never stop, because now she writes them too! Granted Raine’s stories are edgy enough to turn Ms. Cartland in her grave, but to her way of thinking, a hot, sexy hero never goes out of fashion. A former teacher, she’s now writing sexy romance stories full time. She has a handsome prince of a husband, and two brilliant sons to pull her back into the real world if the writing takes her too far away. Her sons know she likes to write stories, but gratefully have never asked to read any, thank God! Raine loves to hear from readers and to chat about the characters in her books. You can contact her at raine_miller@ymail.com or visit www.RaineMiller.com to sign up for updates and her newsletter with links to upcoming books. Also, you can text RAINE to 96000 if you prefer.

When Liv Bennett said good-bye to her sinkhole of a hometown, she planned to leave that chapter of her life behind forever. But forever turned out to only be three years.

After her addict of a mother up and disappears, Liv returns to what she considers her own personal hell smack in the middle of nowhere Nevada to take care of her two younger sisters, and she promptly reinstitutes the golden rule that got her through her first nineteen years of life without getting knocked up, roughed up, or messed up: don’t date the local boys and, god forbid, don’t fall in love with one of them.

It isn’t long before that golden rule is put to the test.

Will Goods grew up in the next trailer over, but the wild, careless boy who used to tear up the town with his three brothers has morphed into someone else so completely, he’s almost unrecognizable. The quiet, contemplative man who works on cars every night and takes care of his mentally ill mother every day is nothing like the local boys Liv grew up avoiding.

But when Liv considers suspending her golden rule just this once, she finds out something about Will that will change everything.

Will Goods isn’t who he used to be—he’s not even the man Liv thinks she’s gotten to know over the summer. He’s become someone else entirely.

He’s become . . .

Damaged Goods.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of Hard Knox, but Damaged Goods… Damaged Goods reminded me of all the reasons why I fell in love with Nicole Williams’s books. It’s sweet, romantic, heartfelt, and the characters are written flawlessly. I had a huge smile when I finished Damaged Goods–it’s a story that will speak to your heart and make you smile and laugh and fall in love.

Some people let the world define them, and some people define their world. I’m still trying to figure out what kind of person I am.

Liv Bennett got away from her crappy hometown and has been living in California for three years, working on graduating college. She works and sends money home to her two younger sisters, Reese and Paige. To say she’s a cynic would be an understatement. She has a very pessimistic view of the world, no thanks to her drug addict of a mother. And when her mother suddenly disappears, all of Liv’s work towards getting a college education is shot down the drain. Liv has to return back to her hometown, the place she never wanted or expected to go back to.

Normally such a pessimistic main character wouldn’t appeal much to me, but I understood Liv. I connected with her, and I just plain liked her. I admired how much she cared for her sisters–Liv returns back to her own version of hell for her younger sisters, choosing family over college. And I adored Liv’s dry sense of humor. Nicole Williams’s writing brought out many different dimensions of Liv, enough that Liv was relatable and connectable.

Upon her return, Liv never expects to find Will Goods living next door. Liv swore to herself that she would never allow herself to fall for someone who lived in her hometown, to allow herself to be tied down, but Will Goods is a whole other story. Because Will isn’t just any other guy and he’s nothing like Liv imagined. At eighteen, Will enlisted in the military, trying to get away from his hometown, like Liv. But years later, after an accident, he had to return home and care for his mentally ill mother. I fell so much in love with Will. He’s kind, smart, funny, selfless, sweet, sexy, and just a beautiful human being.

He had the wisdom of a man who had lived multiple lifetimes and the body of one who’d only just begun his first.

As Liv and Will become friends and grow closer together, Liv struggles to make ends meet. She can’t find a job anywhere, until she’s approached by a man who seems to really want to hire her at a place called The Body Shop. Liv is desperate for a job, but she balks once she finds out that The Body Shop is a strip club. But desperate times call for desperate measures, so Liv becomes the last possible thing she ever expected to be: a stripper.

“Life is full of shit luck. That’s why when you find that thing or person that isn’t every now and again, you grab on and don’t let go without putting up one hell of a fight.”

At the heart of this book, it’s a story about love–love between two people falling in love, and love between family. Liv grows so much throughout this book, learning about herself and her capacity for love. Both Will and her family have a lot to teach Liv, and I adored reading every second of it.

Damaged Goods had a very different feel than the first book. It felt a lot more mature, for one thing, and I really liked that. Nicole Williams definitely went in a completely different route with Damaged Goods, but I loved it. It was fresh and addicting to read–I honestly couldn’t put this book down. There were also some unexpected twists to the plot that I didn’t see coming, which made me love the book even more.

4.5 hearts! This is definitely a must read! Fans of Nicole Williams definitely shouldn’t miss this.

I’m the New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of the CRASH series (HarperTeen, S&S UK), LOST & FOUND series, UP IN FLAMES (S&S UK), The EDEN TRILOGY, and a handful of others. I write stories about everyday kinds of people who find themselves in extraordinary kinds of situations. I tell love stories with happy endings because I believe in making the world a better place, and that’s one tiny way I can make it so.
