Best of the Bunch is a book blog hop hosted by Always Lost in Stories, on the last day of each month, where we can look back over the books we have read over this past month and give a Best of the Bunch award to our favourite book of that month. I’m a bit late on this, but it’s my first time participating on the hop, and it sounded so interesting, I had to join!
This month I reviewed (click the covers to go to the Goodreads page):
- Frigid by J. Lynn | review | rating: 3.5/5
- Lost and Found by Nicole Williams | review | rating: 5/5
- Near and Far by Nicole Williams | review | rating: 4/5
- The Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh | review | rating: 5/5
- Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews | review | rating: 5/5
- Breaking Nova by Jessica Sorensen | review | rating: 4/5
- Shooting Scars by Karina Halle | review | rating: 3/5
And the winner of my Best of the Bunch goes to:
Atlanta is a city plagued by magical problems. Kate Daniels will fight to solve them—no matter the cost.
Mercenary Kate Daniels and her mate, Curran, the Beast Lord, are struggling to solve a heartbreaking crisis. Unable to control their beasts, many of the Pack’s shapeshifting children fail to survive to adulthood. While there is a medicine that can help, the secret to its making is closely guarded by the European packs, and there’s little available in Atlanta.
Kate can’t bear to watch innocents suffer, but the solution she and Curran have found threatens to be even more painful. The European shapeshifters who once outmaneuvered the Beast Lord have asked him to arbitrate a dispute—and they’ll pay him in medicine. With the young people’s survival and the Pack’s future at stake, Kate and Curran know they must accept the offer—but they have little doubt that they’re heading straight into a trap…
Magic Rises was absolutely incredible! I read SO many amazing books last month (Heart of Obsidian is my second favorite of the month), but Magic Rises tops them all! It was a fantastic 6th book in the Kate Daniels series, and completely deserves to be chosen as my Best of the Bunch pick for August 2013. Kate and Curran and the gang are as kickass as ever in this book. I love this series so much, and Magic Rises did not disappoint!
What’s the best book you read in August?
I’ve seen this series around lately. I have it on my TBR list, but I’ll have to try to get around to it sooner rather than later.
You can see my Best of August post here!
It’s a fantastic series! You should definitely give it a try 🙂
It looks like you read loads of amazing books this month- lots of 5 star ratings! I need to get started on this series- it sounds so good.
Thank you so much for taking part in Best of the Bunch!
