It never fails to amaze me how easy it is to get sucked back into Larissa Ione’s Demonica world. Even though the last time I read one of her books was a year ago, the second I opened up Razr, it took me no time at all to dive back into this incredible world. I love these gems of novellas that Larissa gifts us with – they’re the perfect sized stories that leave me satisfied yet aching for more. Razr was another fantastic addition to the series. It’s fast-paced, action-packed, sexy, and pure fun to read. If you love Demonica, you’ll want to read this one!

Razr was kicked out of Heaven for a mistake that cost him everything, and now he’s desperate to do what he can to get back into Heaven’s graces. He’s been working for Azagoth in the underworld, biding his time to find his salvation… which comes in the form of a gem elf named Jedda. Jedda is his one link to fixing the mistake in his past and granting his wings back to him. But it seems as if Jedda is hiding even more secrets than Razr himself. Even while he tries to convince her to help him, Razr becomes undeniably attracted to Jedda. Could Jedda offer more than just a way back to Heaven for Razr?

As usual, this was another steamy, hilarious, thrilling installment to one of my favorite series. Razr is full of fun banter and sexy times, and it was such an enjoyable read. The Demonica series is one of my favorite PNR series ever, and Razr just added to my love for the series. Larissa Ione writes every Demonica book with the perfect amount of humor, action, intensity, and sexiness. If you love the series, you’ll no doubt have fun with Razr and Jedda!

He moved toward Jedda, his pulse inexplicably growing faster as he neared her. He’d been in the presence of blindingly gorgeous females with unmatched power in his centuries of life, and none of them had affected him like this. No, this was different, a mix of attraction and anticipation he would almost compare to battle lust.

The thought made him slow his approach, his mind tripping over the implications of that. Was he hoping she was one of the demons responsible for the theft of his property and the deaths of his friends, in which case he’d kill her, or was he hoping she wasn’t involved? And which was worse? Oh, he had no problems with killing demons—it was what he’d been bred for. But it seemed like such a shame to slaughter someone so unique. Or so attractive.

Idiot. You never drooled over demons when you were a full-fledged angel.

No, he hadn’t. There had been a clear separation of class and species back then. But ever since he’d had his wings bound and his powers muted and had been tossed in Sheoul-gra to serve Azagoth, he’d relaxed his standards. Not intentionally, but he had to admit that living life on the other side of the tracks had given him new perspective.

He just wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or a bad one.

Jedda looked up as he stopped in front of her. Up close, she was even more beautiful, with full, pouty lips made to stir up some wicked male fantasies. Her fine, perfect features made her seem delicate, fragile, even, but something told him she was stronger than she looked. Which made him wonder how that strength would play in bed.

Down, boy. Get what you want and get back to Heaven and females suited to your status. And species. “Hello, Ms. Brighton. I’m Razr.”

Cocking her head slightly, she gave him a long, assessing once-over before saying with just a hint of an English accent, “Razr? That’s not a common human name, is it?”

Either she couldn’t sense his species or she was testing him. Either way, he didn’t see any reason to lie. “It’s my fallen angel name. A take on my given name. Razriel.”

“Ah.” She gave him another long, measuring look, taking in the expensive suit Azagoth had given him for the event, and he wondered what she was thinking. “Until tonight, I’d never met a fallen angel, and now I’ve met two, including you.”

“Tonight? Is the other one here?”

She nodded. “Shrike, the event organizer. He owns this place.”

Well, that was mildly alarming. Fallen angels reveled in power and status, which meant that this shindig had probably been arranged for a purpose. An evil purpose.

ARC Review: The Night Mark by Tiffany Reisz

The Night Mark by Tiffany Reisz
Series: Standalone
Publication Date: March 28th 2017
Links: Ebook • Paperback • Audible • Goodreads
Source: I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

From the bestselling author of The Bourbon Thief comes a sweeping tale of loss and courage, where one woman discovers that her destiny is written in sand, not carved in stone.

Faye Barlow is drowning. After the death of her beloved husband, Will, she cannot escape her grief and most days can barely get out of bed. But when she’s offered a job photographing South Carolina’s storied coast, she accepts. Photography, after all, is the only passion she has left.

In the quaint beach town, Faye falls in love again when she sees the crumbling yet beautiful Bride Island lighthouse and becomes obsessed with the legend surrounding The Lady of the Light—the keeper’s daughter who died in a mysterious drowning in 1921. Like a moth to a flame, Faye is drawn to the lighthouse for reasons she can’t explain. While visiting it one night, she is struck by a rogue wave and a force impossible to resist drags Faye into the past—and into a love story that is not her own.

Fate is changeable. Broken hearts can mend. But can she love two men separated by a lifetime?

The Night Mark is such a strange but lovely book. It’s definitely one of Tiffany Reisz’s sweeter reads – there’s no erotica here, but the hero had me swooning like CRAZY. I wish there had been more romance but the story itself was fascinating. It’s a modern day time-travel romance, and it definitely gave me Outlander feels, but of course, Tiffany Reisz puts her own unique spin to it. If you’re a fan of the genre or love TR’s writing (like I am), I’d recommend you try this book!

“He said, ‘Come heaven or hell or high water, I will love you and take care of you as long as you live, Faye.’ I asked him, ‘Don’t you mean as long as you live?’ He said no. He wasn’t interested in till death do us part. Even if he went first, he would find a way to take care of me. I treasure that vow. I hold it right here,’’ she said, touching her chest over her heart. “But I’m still waiting for him to keep it.”

It’s been years since the death of the love of her life, Will, but Faye Barlow still feels lost. She accepts a new job opportunity in South Carolina, where she learns the legend behind the Bride Island lighthouse and the mysterious drowning of The Lady of the Light. She can’t seem to stay away from the lighthouse and through some twist of fate, is sent back to 1921 – where she sees the one face she’s been dying to see for the past four years… her late husband.

But this Will, a lighthouse keeper named Carrick, isn’t her Will – or is it? Even though this 1921 Will isn’t the same as the Will she knew, Faye feels a connection with him all the same. And it seems that she’s getting a second chance at love and life she never expected to get. I loved seeing Faye opening her heart and finding passion again, both in herself and with Carrick. Carrick is the loveliest hero, so honorable and steadfast. Their love story is beautiful and inspiring – I couldn’t predict it and I couldn’t put it down.

Reading this book almost felt dreamlike – the words are beautiful and lyrical, in typical Tiffany Reisz fashion, and the story is fantastical. It’s time travel, contemporary, and historical all at the same time – and I’ll admit, I got a bit confused sometimes keeping up with the plot. But I really didn’t care that I didn’t make sense of everything because I enjoyed the writing so much. Plus, we got a little connection with The Bourbon Thief, and I thought that was such a nice touch. The Night Mark shows how versatile Tiffany Reisz’s writing is and I really hope we can get more unique standalones like this from her!

“You see, a light’s night mark is its heartbeat. You know a man by his heart. You know a lighthouse by its beacon. ”

From NYT Bestselling author Laurelin Paige, discover a whole new world filled with sex, love, power, romance and dirty, filthy rich men.

When I met Donovan Kincaid, I knew he was rich. I didn’t know he was filthy. Truth be told, I was only trying to get his best friend to notice me.

I knew poor scholarship girls like me didn’t stand a chance against guys like Weston King and Donovan Kincaid, but I was in love with his world, their world, of parties and sex and power. I knew what I wanted—I knew who I wanted—until one night, their world tried to bite me back and Donovan saved me. He saved me, and then Weston finally noticed me, and I finally learned what it was to be in their world.

And then what it was like to lose it.

Ten years later, I’ve found my way back. Back to their world. Back to him.

This time, I’m ready. I’ve been down this road before, and I know all the dirty, filthy ways Donovan will try and wreck me.

But it’s hard to resist. Especially when I know how much I’ll like it.

O.M.G. It seems like every time I read a Laurelin Paige book, I always end up shocked and turned on simultaneously. Laurelin knows how to write seriously dirty, filthy books (hence, the title) and I wasn’t disappointed with this one. It’s the first book in a duet series, and I’m literally salivating for the conclusion already. I loved Sabrina and Donovan’s story – it was insanely hot (holy crap was this book was ON FIRE), addicting, and seductive. If you love your dirty reads with alpha males, you need to get your hands on this book! Plus, there’s a prequel novella that’s out for free!

They were both standing in front of me now, staring at me. Weston to my right, Donovan to my left, like a real life game of This or That, and of course the choice was This. It was the only choice. Practically. For my sanity. The other one wasn’t even an actual option.
And yet my body pulled traitorously toward That.

Ten years ago, when Sabrina Lind was in her first year at Harvard on scholarship, she had a crush on Weston King, trust fund baby and playboy charmer. But as attractive as Weston was, he had nothing on the visceral effect that Donovan Kincaid had on Sabrina. He was the TA of her ethics class, her savior and dirty fantasy. But he ended up breaking her heart right before she had to withdraw from school, and Sabrina never expected to see either gorgeous men for the rest of her life. But life is full of endless surprises, because she not only runs into Weston, she is offered a job at his company… which is also owned by Donovan.

“I don’t want you to touch me like Weston,” I said, once and for all. “I don’t want Weston! I want you!”
Donovan let loose the smallest hint of a smile. “I know. I was waiting for you to know too.”

As Sabrina is thrust once again into the world of dirty, filthy rich men, she has to decide whether she’ll give her heart over to the man who awakens her deepest fantasies but leaves her feeling heartbroken from his cold demeanor. The push and pull from Donovan is as intense and erotic as it is frustrating, but Laurelin Paige writes it in a way that has you wanting to slap the man while hugging him close. He has a brick wall around his heart, and only Sabrina can break through, but will he allow himself to be vulnerable to let her?

This intoxicating read left me breathless and aching for more. Laurelin Paige is so talented at writing erotic romances – I couldn’t get enough of Sabrina and Donovan’s addicting story. I highly recommend this book for erotic romance lovers and fascinating characters you feel so much for. I’m dying for the next book now!

Laurelin PaigeUSA Today and New York Times Bestselling Author Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead, or dreaming of Michael Fassbender. She’s also a proud member of Mensa International though she doesn’t do anything with the organization except use it as material for her bio. She is represented by Rebecca Friedman.

Release Day Review: Goodbye Paradise by Sarina Bowen

Goodbye Paradise by Sarina Bowen
Series: Hello Goodbye #1 (full reading order below)
Publication Date: March 21st 2017
Links: Ebook • Goodreads
Source: I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review

Most people called it a cult. But for twenty years, Josh and Caleb called it home.

In Paradise, there is no television. No fast food. Just long hours of farm work and prayer on a dusty Wyoming ranch, and nights in a crowded bunkhouse. The boys of the Compound are kept far from the sinners’ world.

But Joshua doesn’t need temptation to sin. His whole life, he’s wanted his best friend, Caleb. By day they work side by side. Only when Josh closes his eyes at night can they be together the way he craves.

It can never be. And his survival depends on keeping his terrible desires secret.

Caleb has always protected Josh against the worst of the bullying at the Compound. But he has secrets of his own, and a plan to get away — until it all backfires.

Josh finds himself homeless in a world that doesn’t want him. Can Caleb find him in time? And will they find a place of safety, where he can admit to Josh how he really feels?

Warning: Contains a hot male/male romance, copious instances of taking the Lord’s name in vain, and love against the kitchen counter. This book was previously released under the title: In Front of God & Everyone.

I love anything Sarina Bowen writes, but I have to say I think this is the most adorable M/M romance I’ve ever read. I had all the heart eye emojis while reading Josh and Caleb’s lovely, emotional, heartwarming story. I seriously ADORED this book! If you’re looking for a sweet, unique M/M romance, you’ll definitely need to read Goodbye Paradise!

Josh and Caleb grew up in Paradise, and for the past two decades, they’ve been living in this cult, working as laborers and getting few benefits from it. One perk of the job though, is the fact that Josh can be around his best friend Caleb… and he can long for him from afar. No one can know that Josh has got a crush on his best friend, who’s a guy, because they’ll be sure to kick him out of Paradise and leave him homeless. But that day comes sooner than later when the cult finds little use in Josh anymore. But when Caleb escapes so he can stand by Josh’s side, can they possibly start a new life together from practically nothing?

As they make their way to Massachusetts to find a woman named Maggie who left Paradise years ago and made a home for herself, Josh and Caleb are once again side by side, but now out in the open. It’s here that Caleb finally makes his move and shows Josh that it’s okay to love a man, because he loves Josh back. Despite how much Josh tried to keep his feelings hidden, loving Caleb was as easy as breathing and there was nothing that could stop him from being with the man he’s loved for so long.

I reached up, circling him in my arms, pulling him down beside me. “I love you.” I could say that without guilt. Because loving someone wasn’t a sin. Other things… sure. But love could never be a crime.

I absolutely adored everything about Josh and Caleb’s story. The raw and beautiful love they have for each other was so simple and easy… it was everything surrounding them that made their lives difficult. But these two are nothing if not hardworking and persistent, and even before the end of the novel, I knew Caleb and Josh would survive and thrive in their new lives.

Goodbye Paradise brought out ALL the feels and emotions out of me. My heart honestly couldn’t stop overflowing with happiness over Caleb and Josh’s love for each other. They are absolutely perfect for each other – I can’t imagine a sweeter couple than them! I almost wish this book was longer, because I didn’t want to let go of their story. I loved this book – and I can’t wait for more M/M from Sarina Bowen!

“I’m so hard for you right now. That’s never going to change. Whether I’m stupid or smart, and whether you still love me anymore, or not. I never could help loving you. It’s just the way that I’m wired.”

Release Day Review: Dirty Souls by Karina Halle

Dirty Souls by Karina Halle
Series: Sins Duet #2 (full reading order below)
Publication Date: March 20th 2017
Links: EbookGoodreads
Source: I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review

From New York Times bestselling author Karina Halle comes DIRTY SOULS the much-anticipated, nail-biting CONCLUSION to the sexy and thrilling Black Hearts…”

Violet McQueen has always been a sensitive soul. Troubled and misunderstood, she never realized her place in the world, nor her true potential…until she met Vicente Bernal.

From birth, Vicente Bernal has always known his place in the world – he’s been groomed to be a ruthless king. Yet for a man whose soul has become morally bankrupt, it’s only through Violet he’s realizing the worth of someone’s heart.

But at what cost?

With a deadly game set in motion taking them from the stark deserts of California to the steamy jungles of Mexico, Violet and Vicente’s forbidden relationship will be put to the test. Boundaries will be pushed, lines will be crossed and souls will get very, very dirty.

Because how do you choose between blood and love when both might get you killed?

After the slightly disappointing first book in the Sins Duet, I was hoping that Dirty Souls would make up for what I didn’t feel in Black Hearts by actually making me grow invested in Vicente and Violet’s star-crossed romance. It didn’t, BUT I will say it was a hell of a conclusion to the McQueens’ and Bernals’ story. It’s nonstop action and insanely hot, filthy sex. It’s a no-holds-barred kind of read, which I admired. If you loved Black Hearts, you will most likely love Dirty Souls just as much!

I need to figure out how to keep this forever. Her, me, the open desert. I don’t fucking need anything else. I may be young but I know enough that sometimes you don’t need the world. You just need that one person to rule the world with.

Violet and Vicente are on the run from their parents. Violet has found out that her whole life and family has been a lie, and Vicente is trying to protect her from the people who want to harm her – his father and his men. But try as they might to make their world just the two of them, reality comes crashing down and both are taken by Javier to Mexico. Can Vicente and Violet’s love withstand the test of time, or will Javier succeed in breaking the both of them?

I love her with my dark and dangerous heart. I love her with my wicked and dirty soul.
I love her enough to raze the world around me to the very ground, just so we can be together.

I enjoyed Vicente and Violet’s characters more in this sequel, mainly because they didn’t feel as naive as they did in the first book. I loved the way they were around each other, but I have to admit I started skimming the sex scenes when I was deeper in the story because, even though they were hot, they started to feel like filler. Still, Karina Halle knows how to write erotic scenes filled with chemistry, but I just grew a little tired of them when there seemed to be too many scenes of them.

We get a lot more of Ellie and Javier’s POVs in this book. I liked the contrast between them and their children, the fact that their children are what they could have been if it weren’t for the lies. But then the book felt like it was focused too much on the parents’ past and story rather than Violet and Vicente’s, which was what I really wanted. That’s one of the main reasons I couldn’t love this series more, because I really wanted more of the main characters rather than their parents. But it was still nice to see beloved characters again, even if one of them (*cough* Javier) become a little unlikable.

The Sins Duet might not be a favorite of mine from Karina Halle, but it’s a dark, gritty read that had me on the edge of my seat. It was a crazy, intense ride, and while I didn’t love it, I’m still glad to have read it. If you love the author, you should definitely check this series out – especially if you love the Artists Trilogy or Dirty Angels series!
