Blog Tour + Author Interview, Review & Giveaway: Dirty Deeds by Megan Erickson

I’m so excited to be a part of the blog tour for Dirty Deeds by Megan Erickson! I have an interview with Megan on the blog today, as well as my review and a fantastic tour giveaway!

Author Interview: Megan Erickson

What was your favorite part about writing Dirty Deeds?

I loved writing the scenes where I got to have the whole crew together. I loved writing the girls’ night out and backyard barbecue scenes.

What made you decide on writing a hot British businessman as the hero for Alex?

You know, I wanted someone not like her in any way. I didn’t want her to fall for another mechanic. I wanted to get her out of her comfort zone so she could see what she had to offer.

What makes Alex and Spencer different from your previous main characters?

They are both really honest. I think I liked that the most. They were upfront with each other every step of the way.

Which book was your favorite to write in the Mechanics of Love series?

DIRTY TALK. Brent was a really easy character for me to write. I loved being in his head.

Will we be getting a story about Davis? Or Delilah? I love their characters!

I’m not ruling it out! And thank you, I love them too!

What are you currently working on?

Currently, I’m finishing up the fourth book in my Gamers series with Entangled Brazen. And I have a bunch of side projects I’m sorting out. I’m excited for 2016.

Megan Erickson knows how to write contemporary romance! The Mechanics of Love series is the first I’ve read by her, and it won’t be the last. I’ve enjoyed each one of the books in the series immensely – Dirty Talk is still my favorite, but Dirty Deeds, the third and latest book, is one that definitely lived up to my expectations. It’s a book full of heart and humor, with touching characters that can’t help but endear themselves to your heart.

I’d been so excited about Alex’s story since Dirty Talk – as a female mechanic who’s sworn off men, she’s a memorable character. Her last relationship almost ruined her family, so when she and her sister and niece got away from her abusive ex, she was determined not to let any man in. She gives off this tough, sassy, badass persona, but deep down, she’s also a woman who gives her whole heart to those she loves. She may have given her heart to someone who abused it in the past, but ever since she’s met the Paytons, she’s opened up once again. But the one who really breaks down her walls is a one-night-stand she never expects to see again.

Spencer’s eyes were wild as he took her in. “I’m the luckiest man in the world to be here right now.”
Her heart ached, because they would be only this, a screw in a bed, a fuck against a wall. Quick, dirty deeds that would never have a future. Oh well, she’d make the most of it.

Though the past two books in the series have been about some HOT mechanics, I have to say that this one British businessman was definitely able to keep up with the previous heroes. Spencer was only supposed to be Tory for a little while for his job, so his one night – the hottest night of his life – with Alex was only supposed to be just that. But when his job forces him to go back to Tory and see Alex again and again, Spencer can’t help wanting her more and more… except that his stay in Tory is once again only temporary.

“…you love to love, Alex. And you love to be loved. And you deserve it. You deserve it all.”

I adored Alex and Spencer together. The two of them are the kind of characters who have walls around their hearts, and I loved seeing the two of them break down their walls and let in love. They make such a great couple, and the chemistry between this is seriously hot. If you’re a fan of the series, you definitely don’t want to miss Dirty Deeds.

I’m desperately hoping there will be more in this series, especially a book about Davis or Delilah (or the both of them together). I seriously can’t get enough of all of these characters! And the Paytons, I just love them all so much, especially Brent. All of their interactions with each other leave me with a smile on my face. If you love your romances with the perfect balance of humor and sweet, touching moments, then you definitely need to get your hands on this series!

She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, two kids and two cats. And no, she still can’t reach the stupid top shelf.

Audiobook Review: Omega by Jasinda Wilder

Omega by Jasinda Wilder

Omega by Jasinda Wilder
Series: Alpha #3 (full reading order below)
Audiobook Publication Date: December 1st 2015
Length: 11 hours and 14 minutes
Narrated by: Summer Roberts
Links: Audible • Ebook • PaperbackGoodreads
Source: I received an audiobook in exchange for an honest review

When you make an enemy of a man like Vitaly Karahalios, there is nowhere on Earth you can go to escape his wrath. He’ll find you. He found me; he found Roth. He found Layla.

He found us, and now the unthinkable has happened. Someone I love has been kidnapped.

Again.

This isn’t a fairy tale.

Not everyone will get a happily ever after.

Sometimes we can’t just walk away from the past.

Love doesn’t always save the day.

The beast won’t always get his beauty.

But maybe, just maybe, we can get our happy ending.

Summer Roberts is a new-to-me narrator, but I’ve definitely become a fan. Even with two female POVs, since Omega is told first in Kyrie’s POV, then in Layla’s, Summer Roberts was able to make their voices distinct and unique, and I could tell whose POV it was just by her narration. She did a fantastic job narrating Omega, which is now my favorite of the Alpha series. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Kyrie and Roth, so when the story switched over to Layla and Harris, I really started enjoying this audiobook. If you’re a fan of the series, you won’t want to miss Layla and Harris’s story – their heart-pounding, intense, crazy hot story was so much fun to listen to.

Vitaly Karahalios is out for revenge for his daughter’s death, so Kyrie and Roth are out in hiding in the middle of nowhere on a boat, and they’ve take Kyrie’s best friend Layla with them for her protection. Harris is basically Roth’s bodyguard, there to protect the three of them, and there’s some delicious tension going on between him and Layla. I’ve always been intrigued by Harris in the previous books. He’s stoic, intense, quiet – so I loved that he actually gets his own romance with Layla of all people, the dirty-mouthed, sassy, independent, hilarious woman who is his opposite in every way.

I would’ve loved if Omega had solely been Layla and Harris’s story, because I really loved everything about them. They’re the definition of ‘opposites attract,’ they’re amazing and funny together, the chemistry between them is on fire, and I loved how they opened up to one another, when usually they’re the kind of people who keep things close to themselves. And they are crazy hot together! Jasinda Wilder knows how to write hot, dirty scenes, though I will admit that there might have been too much sex in Omega.

There’s also some great suspense and action in Omega, and the best part about it is Layla’s hilarious take on the craziness that’s happening around her. She’s a sarcastic girl, and I found myself cracking up sometimes at the inappropriate jokes she’d make.

If you’re looking for something hot, sexy, action-y, and fun, I would definitely recommend the Omega audiobook. Summer Roberts is a great narrator, and I’d definitely listen to another audiobook she narrates. Since Omega is book 3 in the Alpha series, you would need to read the first two books in the series, but Layla and Harris’s romance is definitely worth it. I found myself hooked onto their story, which I wasn’t expecting. It’s a great conclusion to the series – Kyrie and Roth’s story wraps up nicely, and Layla and Harris have their own perfect ending.

Release Day Review: Midnight Mass by Sierra Simone

Midnight Mass by Sierra Simone

Midnight Mass by Sierra Simone
Series: Priest #1.5 (full reading order below)
Publication Date: December 8th 2015
Links: Ebook • Paperback • Goodreads
Source: I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review

We are told that God will punish the wicked. That sinful men will reap what they sow. We are told to scourge our souls with prayer and pain to become clean once again.

Well, here I am. Wicked and sinful. Desperate to become clean…even though it feels so good to be dirty.

But even I never expected what came next.

Even I never expected my punishment to come so soon.

***Midnight Mass is a novella and a sequel to Priest. It’s intended for mature audiences only.***

Holy crap, Midnight Mass is just as dirty – and downright filthy – as Priest was! For a novella, it’s a GREAT follow-up to Tyler and Poppy’s story. Priest was seriously one of the hottest books I’d read all year, and though I didn’t really LOVE it, I was still looking forward to the smutty goodness in Midnight Mass, and Sierra Simone didn’t disappoint. Her writing is absolutely stunning, and it’s one of the reasons why I really enjoyed this novella, right next to the smokin’ hot sex. If you loved Priest, you definitely won’t be disappointed with Midnight Mass!

I’d shrugged off my laptop bag and sank onto the bed, not even trying to quash the self-recriminating bitterness that squeezed my heart an repeated all the things I already knew.
You don’t deserve her.
You’ll never deserve her.
And the worst: You failed at being a priest. Now you’ll fail at being a husband.

This novella was such a treat for me, because when I finished Priest, I didn’t really feel that satisfied with Tyler and Poppy’s ending. But Midnight Mass has definitely settled some of my concerns about their relationship and we get an in-depth look at how they are now as a settled couple. Three years into their marriage, Tyler and Poppy are still as in love as ever, but they’re both incredibly busy, with Tyler’s dissertation and Poppy’s work. They’re spending less and less time with each other, and add on to Tyler’s guilt over leaving the clergy and jealousy over Poppy’s coworker, they’re going through a rough patch. I really liked the way Sierra Simone handled portraying Tyler’s penchant for guilt and the way he deals with his self-loathing over his supposed failures. It could’ve gotten over-the-top and annoying, but the author writes Tyler in such a way that I could sympathize with him and completely understand what he was going through.

Nothing about this novella felt unnecessary – the stress in Tyler and Poppy’s marriage was believable and also dealt with in a believable way. And, of course, there’s plenty of smutty goodness and LOTS of dirty talk from our former priest. Tyler is just… sinful. There’s no better way to describe him.

Thank you, I told God as Poppy’s body began trembling over mine. Thank you so much.
Is it weird to pray during sex? Maybe it is, but sometimes it happens. I’ve tried to accept that it’s who I am—a man who loves God, and who loves fucking, that I can be dirty and holy all in the same moment.

What I really liked about Midnight Mass was how Tyler and Poppy had much more depth in this than I felt like they did in Priest. They just felt more real to me in this novella. If you loved Priest, you’ll definitely want to get your hands on Midnight Mass, and not just for the dirty smut (although I’m sure that’s like 90% why you’ll read it, and I don’t blame you). You’ll get to see how married life is for this couple, witness them through their ups and downs but still coming out on top. And like I said before, Sierra Simone’s writing is gorgeous and unlike anything I’ve ever read. Priest fans won’t want to miss this novella sequel!

Father Bell was here instead. And church was in session.

Series: Made in Jersey #1 (full reading order below)
Publication Date: December 7th 2015

His inspiration. His torment. And his temptation…

Jasmine Taveras is the reason Sarge Purcell grabbed his six-string and bailed the hell out of New Jersey four years ago. She’s the fuel for every song he’s ever written-each one laced with bitter, hard-edged, hungry lust. Now, with his hugely successful band on temporary hiatus, Sarge is determined to prove to Jasmine that this “kid” turned into every inch the man she’s always needed…

Men are slim pickings for a single factory girl in Hook, New Jersey…until tall, broad-shouldered hotness walks-or rather storms-into Jasmine’s life. Sarge’s return shouldn’t affect her this way. He’s her best friend’s much younger kid brother, and the kind of rough, gritty, sexiness Jasmine has no right to taste for herself. Even if he lets her.

But lust is a blinding, insatiable force. And when it crashes, it will take both Sarge and Jasmine down with it…

Hooooly god. I think… this is the hottest book of Tessa Bailey’s yet (and if you’ve read her books, you know this is saying something). Gah, I loved Crashed Out so much! Tessa never ceases to amaze me, but this book blew me away. Hands down, this is my new favorite Brazen book from her (I’m sorry, Derek!). I’ve been a huge fan of Tessa’s since the beginning of the year when I marathon’ed all her dirty, dirty books, and she’s become an auto-buy author for me – but she went above and beyond with Crashed Out. I loved everything about it, from the characters, to the writing, to the HOT HOT HOT sexy times. Seriously, I think this is the HOTTEST book Tessa Bailey’s ever written. So if you’re a fan of hers, you DON’T want to miss this new series.

The younger man/older woman trope isn’t a common one, so when I heard that’s what this book would be about, I jumped at the chance to read it, because I KNEW Tessa Bailey would make me love the hell out of it. Sarge has had a crush on his older sister’s best friend since the moment he met her, but he was 7 years younger and only a teenager. But now, Sarge is ALL grown up – he’s a famous rock star, and he’s come home to claim the one woman he never forgot about.

“Ride me, use me, come on me. God know I’ve used the thought of you to come for a fucking decade.”

Jasmine used to have dreams of getting out of Hook, New Jersey and pursuing a singing career, but years have passed and she’s still stuck in the small town, working in a factory with her best friend, who’s kid brother she used to babysit. But when Sarge returns, imagine her shock at how gorgeous and yummy this ‘kid brother’ has grown up to be. He’s a temptation she can’t resist, even though he’s younger and her best friend’s brother.

Tessa Bailey writes Jasmine and Sarge’s chemistry to utter perfection. Crashed Out has Tessa’s classic dirty talk (which somehow never gets old and repetitive) and crazy hot tension. The sexy times are just – WOW. I had to fan myself constantly during this read. Sarge’s mouth is downright filthy, and I freaking loved it. I loved how determined he is to show Jasmine that he’s not a kid anymore, and the fact that he’s younger only made everything hotter and slightly forbidden.

“I might be younger, but I’m not young. I’m a man and I’m fucking you blind. I’m your man. Say it.”

Crashed Out is a fantastic series starter from Tessa Bailey – I honestly couldn’t stop smiling and blushing while I was reading! I’ve become completely obsessed with Sarge and Jasmine’s story, and though I wish it never ended, I seriously can’t WAIT for more from the other characters. I have a feeling I’ll love the Made in Jersey series as much as, if not more than, the Line of Duty series. If you love your books dirty, then you absolutely NEED to get your hands on Crashed Out (or basically any Tessa Bailey book)!

Coming Apart at the Seams by Jenna Sutton
Series: Riley O’Brien & Co. #2 (full reading order below)
Publication Date: December 1st 2015
Links: Ebook • PaperbackGoodreads
Source: I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

From the author of All the Right Places, a sweet and sexy romance about finding the right words and the perfect fit…

Love can take some time to break in…

Teagan O’Brien, heiress to the Riley O’Brien & Co. denim empire, is anything but a spoiled rich girl. She’s worked hard to secure her place in the family business and can hold her own, in and out of the office. Only one man has ever been able to get under her skin—sexy football star Nick Priest. Years ago they crossed the line from friends to lovers, but he left her heartbroken. Since then, she’s been determined to keep him at arm’s length—no matter how tempting he looks in his jeans…

Nick has fortune, fame, and looks that make most women hot and bothered. But he doesn’t have the woman he really wants. He knows he screwed up when he walked away from Teagan, and now that he has a second chance, he’ll do whatever it takes to win her over—no matter how tongue-tied he gets…

I am always up for reading a second chance romance, since it’s one of my favorite tropes, but lately, the second chance romances I’ve read have been let-downs. While I liked Coming Apart at the Seams well enough, overall, it was an okay read. I got bored a few times and the story dragged a bit, but it was still a good read. It’s sexy, a little angsty, and I really enjoyed reading about a hero who’s determined to take his second chance with the heroine and make up for all the hurts he caused her in the past.

Blunder. Gaffe. Misstep. Error. Snafu. Although plenty of words described the huge, life-altering mistake Nick Priest had made, none of them quite conveyed his stupidity. He’d had a chance with Teagan O’Brien, but he’d blown it. That was his biggest regret, and he had a lot of them.

I really liked the way the author presents Teagan and Nick’s relationship over the years to the reader. First, we’re set in the present, with Nick regretting hurting Teagan and not fighting for her in the past… but he sure as hell is fighting for her now. He knows he messed up years ago, but he’s determined to win back the only woman he’s ever loved. Then, gradually, Nick and Teagan’s past relationship is revealed, and I really adored the way these two grew to be such good friends, even best friends. They felt a connection with one another, and even though they were attracted to each other, they didn’t want to risk their friendship over it. But one night of temptation and passion changes everything, and in the end, leaves both of them hurt – and alone.

I love you. I loved you then, and I love you now. Please give me another chance. I’m miserable without you, and I’m afraid of what the rest of my life will be like if you’re not with me.

Nick has a severe stutter, which has affected his relationship with his father, and inadvertently, his relationship with Teagan. He felt like he wouldn’t be good enough for her, since he wasn’t good enough for his father, so sadly, he made mistakes, but now in the present, he’s going to fight for the woman he loves, even if it seems she hates him. Both Nick and Teagan are flawed people, and while I understood Nick’s reasons for hurting Teagan in the past and Teagan’s reasons for not letting Nick near her heart again, I grew a little frustrated with them. Miscommunication played a big part in their broken relationship, which is something I usually get annoyed reading about. Although, I was very impressed with the way Teagan stood firm in not forgiving Nick, at least not right away. She definitely makes him work for it, for her and her love, and I admired that she’s so stubborn about it.

Overall, Coming Apart at the Seams is a sweet second chance romance, with a little friends-to-lovers mixed in. If the pacing of the book had moved a little faster, I probably would have enjoyed it more, but for those of you who like your romances slow-paced, I would recommend this. This book also sets up the romance in the next book a bit, and I’m intrigued enough by the couple that I’m looking forward to read it!
