There’s optimistic. And there’s Jesse Walker.

If he wasn’t so charming, his sunny disposition and incessant grin would get old. Fast.

Falling in love with the broken girl who had at first seemed immune to anything resembling love was the best thing to happen to Jesse since the Walkers adopted him when he was five.

As Jesse’s life continues at the ranch and Rowen begins making her mark in the Seattle art community, they wonder where the middle ground is. Or if there even is one.

As push comes to shove, they’re forced to make choices neither are eager to make, and Jesse and Rowen have to face what their lives might look like without the other.

Can two people with such tragic pasts and different presents expect a promising future together? Whatever the answer, they’ll need a lot more than love to make it.

Sigh. I just love Jesse. He’s my favorite nice boy/cowboy (okay, so he’s the only nice boy/cowboy I know, but whatevs). I had just finished reading book 1, Lost and Found, when luck would have it that Near and Far was released! I was so, so glad that Jesse and Rowen’s story wasn’t quite over yet. And I love that in Near and Far, we get alternating chapters of Rowen and Jesse’s POVs. WE GET TO BE IN JESSE WALKER’S HEAD!!! AHHH!!! *SWOONS*

Ahem, where was I… yes, so you can be sure that I was SO excited to be reading Lost and Found’s sequel, because I LOVED that book, and I needed more Jesse! And I knew that I wouldn’t wouldn’t be disappointed, because it’s Nicole Williams (whom I adore) and hello, Jesse! I am definitely not one to turn down a sweet and sexy cowboy. And while I can’t say that I LOVED Near and Far (at least as much as the first book), I absolutely enjoyed reading it and thought it was a great way to end Rowen and Jesse’s story.

So summer is over and Rowen has to leave the ranch and Jesse, and has to start college. Jesse is still working at the ranch, and rarely has time to visit Rowen, so they have to deal with having a long distance relationship. Throw in a TA who might have a thing for Rowen from her art class and a new working girl at the ranch who definitely has her eyes on Jesse, and the drama unfolds.

Most of the book is about the main couple dealing with their long distance relationship. It’s not easy. As much as they love each other, and they do, very much, time away from each other takes its toll on both of them. Both Jesse and Rowen become a little insecure about themselves and about their relationship. Neither of them thinks they are good enough for the other. They don’t see that they are perfect for each other, and their relationship gets a little strained. It was mostly because of this that I couldn’t put my full attention to Near and Far. It’s not that I was bored-more like the book just couldn’t hold my attention. And because of that, I couldn’t love the book fully.

The best thing about Near and Far, besides Jesse of course, is seeing how much love Jesse and Rowen have for each other. No matter how much their relationship gets battered, their love for each other is strong and unwavering. I was swooning so hard every time Jesse talked about Rowen, because you just know that that girl is everything to him. And the same goes for Rowen.

We never really got to read about Jesse’s past in full detail in Lost and Found, but it’s all out there in Near and Far. And it was horrendous. We finally find out the full extent of how neglected and abused Jesse was during his childhood, and my heart went out to him. But it just makes it all the more incredible that despite Jesse’s terrible upbringing, he has found the ability to love and is loved in return, and he has such a heart of gold. He tries to see the good in everyone even knowing that some people are so bad they are unredeemable.

The second best thing in the book was GARTH! I totally fell for this dark, bad boy, his sarcasm and his inner goodness. Because underneath his bad boy facade lies a good guy underneath. He cares about Jesse and Rowen, as much as he pretends he doesn’t, and I absolutely CANNOT WAIT for his book, Finders Keepers.

I loved the ending of Near and Far. It was so sweet and heartfelt, and even a bit sad since Rowen and Jesse’s story has come to its end. But I’m hoping we get to see glimpses of them in Garth’s book! I highly recommend reading this series, or anything by Nicole Williams. Her books are just fantastic, and never disappointing!

Bookish Related Stuff {2}

Apparently every time I decide on making a random bookish related post, it’s when I’m bored. Ahem. I should be writing my reviews for the books I’ve recently read, but it’s Sunday so I’m just taking a chill pill right now. Woot. But I have realized I haven’t been posting much this past week and I apologize! I’ve been reading a lot of books that are part of a series and I decided on writing reviews for the series as a whole instead of each individual book. Don’t hate me! It’s just that 12 reviews in a row are a bit much for me, and I wouldn’t know what to say for every single one. But anyways, I hope everyone’s been reading awesome books, because I have! I have so much to share with everyone, like the books I’ve read, the giveaways on the blog, what books that are releasing soon, and more!

So speaking of the books I’ve read recently, the latest book I read was Lost and Found by Nicole Williams and OH MY GOD it was incredible! It just became one of the best books I’ve read this year, and I’ll be writing my review for that soon. Its sequel, Near and Far, has JUST been released and let me tell you, I am unbelievably excited to read it! Nicole Williams is a fave, and I’m willing to read anything by her. I definitely recommend her other series Crash for contemporary romance lovers!

I’ve also finished 2 ongoing adult paranormal series, and they are just the best. The Psy-Changeling series is the one with 12 books (and counting) and holy cow, each book just keeps getting better and better. I’ll be posting my review of that series soon, along with my review of the Charley Davidson series, which is one of the most hilarious, fun and badass series I’ve ever read. Charley is one of my favorite heroines/narrators, with her wit and sarcasm making me laugh so many times I lost count. Heart of Obsidian is the latest book from the Psy-Changeling series (and I loved it so SO MUCH) and Fifth Grave Past the Light is the latest from the Charley Davidson series, and both were just fabulous and I’m so glad that neither series is ending soon! I also finished reading Abbi Glines’s Twisted Perfection and Forever Too Far, and while Twisted Perfection was a bit of a disappointment for me, I did enjoy Forever Too Far. If you’re looking for light-hearted romances, then you really should check out Abbi Glines.

So make sure to enter because it ends tomorrow! I’ll also be participating in another giveaway, the Summer Giveaway Hop, which starts August 1st, and end August 7th, so be on the lookout for that!

Holy heckaroo, Richelle Mead, author of the incredible Vampire Academy series and its spinoff the Bloodlines series gave us a scene from Vampire Academy from Dimitri’s POV!!! I love Dimitri. Like LOVE him. He’s one of my all time favorite book boyfriends ever, and he recently won the YA Crush Tourney over at The YA Sisterhood. Since he won, Richelle gave us the scene when he first meets Rose (the main character) and OMG it’s awesome. Read it here!

Tammara Webber, author of one of my all time favorite books ever, Easy, wrote this on her Facebook (click to enlarge) and OH GOSH YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW EXCITED AND HAPPY I AM. When I found out that she was going to write Easy from Lucas’s POV, I freaked. And immediately told Shirley (since she also read it) so we could freak out together. If you haven’t read Easy, then you should! It’s absolutely fantastic, a total 5 star read for me, and I highly recommend it!

Easy by Tammara WebberWhen Jacqueline follows her longtime boyfriend to the college of his choice, the last thing she expects is a breakup two months into sophomore year. After two weeks in shock, she wakes up to her new reality: she’s single, attending a state university instead of a music conservatory, ignored by her former circle of friends, and failing a class for the first time in her life.

Leaving a party alone, Jacqueline is assaulted by her ex’s frat brother. Rescued by a stranger who seems to be in the right place at the right time, she wants nothing more than to forget the attack and that night – but her savior, Lucas, sits on the back row of her econ class, sketching in a notebook and staring at her. Her friends nominate him to be the perfect rebound.

When her attacker turns stalker, Jacqueline has a choice: crumple in defeat or learn to fight back. Lucas remains protective, but he’s hiding secrets of his own. Suddenly appearances are everything, and knowing who to trust is anything but easy.

There are quite a few new books that will be released on the July 30th, but besides Near and Far, which has been released early, I’m just dying to read Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews (the Kate Daniels series is one of my favorites, so of course I’d be excited for the next book!) and The Redemption of Callie & Kayden (whose previous book, The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden, ended on the craziest cliffhanger ever).

And, of course, I can’t end this post without sharing the books I’d give my firstborn child to be released like, tomorrow!

Bookish Related Stuff {1}

Hi everyone! I’m a bit bored right now (actually I’m supposed to be studying, ahem, but oh well), so I decided, Why not make a new post? But about what, exactly? Yeah, I’m not really sure either. Well, I guess this post is going to be more of a compilation of random book-related things rather than a typical book review. SO. What should I start off first with…

OH!! If you didn’t already know from a previous post about the incredible Colleen Hoover, Cathy, Shirley and I LOVE her. We absolutely ADORE WIll and Holder her books. And this morning, Cathy told me that Colleen had a new post up on her blog, and OH MY GOD it’s a deleted scene!!!! AAAAHHHHH!!! It’s acutally PRETTY SPOILERY, so if you haven’t read Slammed yet, you probably shouldn’t read it. But for those who have finished Slammed (WOOT YOU ROCK) then go check it out and read it HERE!!! It’s such a heart-wrenching scene, and Colleen does such an amazing job of portraying all the emotions, so I’m pretty sad this didn’t actually turn up in the book.

Yesterday (5/28/13), so many new books were released! But the ones I’m SO FREAKING EXCITED to read are:
(Click the covers to go read the summaries!)
Dare You To by Katie McGarryThe Forever of Ella and MichaSpirit by Brigid Kemmerer

Guys, guys, you seriously have no idea how unbelievably excited I am to read Dare You To. Like, holy mackeral. I’ve been waiting for it since I finished the first book, Pushing the Limits, which is one of my all-time FAVORITE books ever. GOD, I’m just anxiously waiting for my copy to arrive in the mail so I can finally read it! Oh, and The Forever of Ella and Micha is an eagerly awaited sequel, even though I thought the first book, The Secret of Ella and Micha, was only okay and not very impressive. And Spirit is book #3 in the Elemental series, which is a fantastic series about a family of 4 boys with awesome powers, and just really fun to read. I’ve already read Book #1 and #2, so if cute boys and magic powers are your thing, check that series out!

I’m in a huge dilemma. I don’t know what book I’m going to start reading. DUN DUN DUN. But seriously, I have SO many books to read that I don’t know where to start. And it’s killing me! I recently was recommended by a friend a book called Crash, and she LOVED it, so I might start that. Or Prodigy by Marie Lu. GAH I DON’T KNOW WHICH TO CHOOSE THERE’S TOO MANY GOOD ONES!!

someecard reading

And speaking of Crash, the author, Nicole Williams, has a new series, and it sounds like something I would love to read. Lost and Found is the first book, and the second book, Near and Far, just had its cover revealed. Lookie! Both covers so pretty!

And oh my gosh, a dear friend of mine recently wrote a review for an incredible book called Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys, and I just wanted to share it with you because both the review and the book are so heartfelt and amazing! Read her review here!

Susan Ee, author of one of my absolute favorites books ever, just announced that the sequel to Angelfall has a name and description!!!

World After (Penryn & the End of Days, Book 2)

In this sequel to the bestselling fantasy thriller, Angelfall, the survivors of the angel apocalypse begin to scrape back together what’s left of the modern world.

When a group of people capture Penryn’s sister Paige, thinking she’s a monster, the situation ends in a massacre. Paige disappears. Humans are terrified. Mom is heartbroken.

Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Her search leads her into the heart of the angels’ secret plans where she catches a glimpse of their motivations, and learns the horrifying extent to which the angels are willing to go.

Meanwhile, Raffe hunts for his wings. Without them, he can’t rejoin the angels, can’t take his rightful place as one of their leaders. When faced with recapturing his wings or helping Penryn survive, which will he choose?

And to wrap this up, here are some upcoming books I’m DYING to read…
