★ A snippet from Cassandra Clare’s tumblr for City of Heavenly Fire!

A parabatai. Like he was. And Jace knew, too, what that faded rune meant: a parabatai whose other half was dead. He felt his sympathy leap toward Brother Zachariah, as he imagined himself without Alec, with only that faded rune to remind him where once he had been bonded to someone who knew all the best and worst parts of his soul.

★ A teaser from Samantha Young’s blog from Castle Hill

Braden shook against me, his tone rumbling with laughter as he asked, “Am I not allowed out of bed this morning?”

“Nope,” I mumbled against his skin. “If you move, I’ll have to move. If I have to move it means facing the fact that we’re no longer in Hawaii. I don’t know if I’m ready to deal with that.”

He rolled me onto my back, laughing at the fact that I refused to open my eyes. “So is the plan to stay here forever?”

“Yes.”

“That might become a problem.”

I shook my head against the pillows. “I don’t foresee any problems. It’s a sound plan.”

“Well,” Braden sighed, “We will eventually start to smell. And needing the toilet might become a problem. And with your issues with flatulence—”

I punched him on the arm, opening my eyes so I didn’t miss. My husband fought me off, laughing as though he was the funniest man on earth.

“One year,” I growled at him, “All I’m asking for is one year without you bringing that up!”

★ J. Sterling put up on her Facebook a snippet of The Sweetest Game!

When I glanced down at the field, the sight of Jack warming up forced my heart to squeeze with pride. His gray sliding pants hugged against the muscles as he lifted his leg into the air before each pitch. The black shirt-style jersey waved in the breeze he created as his arm flew down to release the ball.

I watched as Jack grabbed his hat and tipped it twice, and I couldn’t hide my smile. That was his sign to me. He had started doing it when I couldn’t travel with him on his road trips, which had become more and more frequent with my work. Whenever he pitched, he’d tip his hat twice and his face would light up with a soft smile. He never knew if the cameras were on him or not, but he tipped his hat regardless.

Eventually it became a habit, because he started doing it at the home games as well. Sometimes his eyes would flash to the stands and meet mine. When they did, I swear my heart would stop beating, causing my breath to catch. Every. Single. Time. If anyone noticed, I would have been embarrassed, but no one ever seemed to.

I more than loved this man.
My husband.
My ball player.
My Jack Fucking Carter.

Even his name still gets me all hot and bothered.

Other News!!

★ Are you excited for Lucas’s POV? Read all about Breakable on Tammara Webber’s blog here!

Breakable by Tammara Webber

He was lost and alone. Then he found her.
And the future seemed more fragile than ever.

As a child, Landon Lucas Maxfield believed his life was perfect and looked forward to a future filled with promise — until tragedy tore his family apart and made him doubt everything he ever believed.

All he wanted was to leave the past behind. When he met Jacqueline Wallace, his desire to be everything she needed came so easy…

As easy as it could be for a man who learned that the soul is breakable and that everything you hoped for could be ripped away in a heartbeat.

Note: “Breakable is not a sequel. It’s a prequel story from Landon and the Easy story from Lucas. …Breakable is Lucas’s story – for those of you who wanted inside his head. It can be read as a stand-alone of its own, or as a companion to Easy.”

★ OH MY GOSH!! Seth (from the Covenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout) is getting not only his own book, but his own SERIES!! The Titan series begins with The Return.

The Return by Jennifer L. Arementrout
(Not the final cover)

1. The Return will be in dual POV (Seth and our main protagonist)
2. You have NOT met the female lead yet.
3. The female lead has absolutely no knowledge of gods and any of that
4. Since it’s a Titan novel, you can expect… the Titans.
5. Apollo will be all up in the book, because well, it’s Apollo and I sort of like him.
6. Deacon and Luke will make appearances, but other main characters will not be featured in this series. (Not giving details to avoid as much spoilers as possible)
7. The biggest difference is that the Titan series will be New Adult paranormal. And here’s the reason why. I never gave Seth’s birthday, but he’s always been well over the age of 18 years old, and I really have no real reason bringing him into a high school environment without making him look like a creeper. And he already has enough creeper tendencies as is, so he really is too old for YA. Does that mean the book will be inappropriate for younger readers? Absolutely not.  Will it have more adult content? Probably. I mean, Seth was always borderline inappropriate, but my YA books have that, so….
8. And it will be releasing in early 2015, tentatively February 2015 in both print and digital.

Read more about the new series on her blog here.

★ Ethan Moonsong will be the main character in Fury (The Seven Deadly #3) by Fisher Amelie!

fury coming soon

★ Cassia Leo will be writing another book in her Shattered Hearts series! It’s called Chasing Abby, and this will be book #4.

BLURB: It’s been eighteen years since Abigail Jensen was born with a gaping hole in her heart and five years since she collapsed on the soccer field and spent a harrowing three weeks in the hospital fighting for her life. Five years since she found out she was adopted by Lynette and Brian Jensen. For five years, Abby has gone to sleep wondering about the family she never knew and waiting for her eighteenth birthday. But when her birthday finally comes, she hesitates. What if her birth parents want nothing to do with her?

A month after her eighteenth birthday, Abby graduates from high school and breaks the news to her parents that she will be moving in with her boyfriend, Tate, in off-campus housing. Lynette and Brian are adamant that they will not pay her UNC tuition unless she lives with them.

When Abby and Tate show up on the doorstep of Chris and Claire Knight, they are overjoyed to see the little girl they lost almost eighteen years ago. But the news of Abby’s rebellion leaves Chris and Claire conflicted. After speaking with the Jensens, Chris and Claire agree to let Abby and Tate stay with them for a few weeks during the summer, to catch up on all the years they’ve missed. But when their visit comes to a close, and they encourage Abby to return home, Abby feels unwanted.

When tragedy finds Abby, she must decide whether she will let it ruin her life, or if she will keep fighting to fill the hole in her heart.

★ Congrats to A. Meredith Walters (author of Bad Rep and Find You in the Dark) who has signed a two book deal with Gallery Books! The first book is called Lead Me Not (releases in October 2014).

College student, Aubrey Duncan, is pulled into the dangerous underbelly of the city club scene after meeting a sexy and mysterious stranger. Lead Me Not tells the dark story of love and addiction and fighting a temptation that could lead to destruction.

Bookish Related Stuff {2}

Apparently every time I decide on making a random bookish related post, it’s when I’m bored. Ahem. I should be writing my reviews for the books I’ve recently read, but it’s Sunday so I’m just taking a chill pill right now. Woot. But I have realized I haven’t been posting much this past week and I apologize! I’ve been reading a lot of books that are part of a series and I decided on writing reviews for the series as a whole instead of each individual book. Don’t hate me! It’s just that 12 reviews in a row are a bit much for me, and I wouldn’t know what to say for every single one. But anyways, I hope everyone’s been reading awesome books, because I have! I have so much to share with everyone, like the books I’ve read, the giveaways on the blog, what books that are releasing soon, and more!

So speaking of the books I’ve read recently, the latest book I read was Lost and Found by Nicole Williams and OH MY GOD it was incredible! It just became one of the best books I’ve read this year, and I’ll be writing my review for that soon. Its sequel, Near and Far, has JUST been released and let me tell you, I am unbelievably excited to read it! Nicole Williams is a fave, and I’m willing to read anything by her. I definitely recommend her other series Crash for contemporary romance lovers!

I’ve also finished 2 ongoing adult paranormal series, and they are just the best. The Psy-Changeling series is the one with 12 books (and counting) and holy cow, each book just keeps getting better and better. I’ll be posting my review of that series soon, along with my review of the Charley Davidson series, which is one of the most hilarious, fun and badass series I’ve ever read. Charley is one of my favorite heroines/narrators, with her wit and sarcasm making me laugh so many times I lost count. Heart of Obsidian is the latest book from the Psy-Changeling series (and I loved it so SO MUCH) and Fifth Grave Past the Light is the latest from the Charley Davidson series, and both were just fabulous and I’m so glad that neither series is ending soon! I also finished reading Abbi Glines’s Twisted Perfection and Forever Too Far, and while Twisted Perfection was a bit of a disappointment for me, I did enjoy Forever Too Far. If you’re looking for light-hearted romances, then you really should check out Abbi Glines.

I have a giveaway that’s going on right now, the Summer of Love Blog Giveaway Hop, and a bunch of some of my favorite books are up for grabs, like The Sea of Tranquility, Dare You To, Slammed, and Walking Disaster. So make sure to enter because it ends tomorrow! I’ll also be participating in another giveaway, the Summer Giveaway Hop, which starts August 1st, and end August 7th, so be on the lookout for that!

Holy heckaroo, Richelle Mead, author of the incredible Vampire Academy series and its spinoff the Bloodlines series gave us a scene from Vampire Academy from Dimitri’s POV!!! I love Dimitri. Like LOVE him. He’s one of my all time favorite book boyfriends ever, and he recently won the YA Crush Tourney over at The YA Sisterhood. Since he won, Richelle gave us the scene when he first meets Rose (the main character) and OMG it’s awesome. Read it here!

Tammara Webber, author of one of my all time favorite books ever, Easy, wrote this on her Facebook (click to enlarge) and OH GOSH YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW EXCITED AND HAPPY I AM. When I found out that she was going to write Easy from Lucas’s POV, I freaked. And immediately told Shirley (since she also read it) so we could freak out together. If you haven’t read Easy, then you should! It’s absolutely fantastic, a total 5 star read for me, and I highly recommend it!

Easy by Tammara WebberWhen Jacqueline follows her longtime boyfriend to the college of his choice, the last thing she expects is a breakup two months into sophomore year. After two weeks in shock, she wakes up to her new reality: she’s single, attending a state university instead of a music conservatory, ignored by her former circle of friends, and failing a class for the first time in her life.

Leaving a party alone, Jacqueline is assaulted by her ex’s frat brother. Rescued by a stranger who seems to be in the right place at the right time, she wants nothing more than to forget the attack and that night – but her savior, Lucas, sits on the back row of her econ class, sketching in a notebook and staring at her. Her friends nominate him to be the perfect rebound.

When her attacker turns stalker, Jacqueline has a choice: crumple in defeat or learn to fight back. Lucas remains protective, but he’s hiding secrets of his own. Suddenly appearances are everything, and knowing who to trust is anything but easy.

There are quite a few new books that will be released on the July 30th, but besides Near and Far, which has been released early, I’m just dying to read Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews (the Kate Daniels series is one of my favorites, so of course I’d be excited for the next book!) and The Redemption of Callie & Kayden (whose previous book, The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden, ended on the craziest cliffhanger ever).

And, of course, I can’t end this post without sharing the books I’d give my firstborn child to be released like, tomorrow!

The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead
Series: Bloodlines #3 (full reading order below)
Publication Date: February 12th 2013
Purchase: Ebook • Hardcover • Paperback

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.

In the aftermath of a forbidden moment that rocked Sydney to her core, she finds herself struggling to draw the line between her Alchemist teachings and what her heart is urging her to do. Then she meets alluring, rebellious Marcus Finch–a former Alchemist who escaped against all odds, and is now on the run. Marcus wants to teach Sydney the secrets he claims the Alchemists are hiding from her. But as he pushes her to rebel against the people who raised her, Sydney finds that breaking free is harder than she thought. There is an old and mysterious magic rooted deeply within her. And as she searches for an evil magic user targeting powerful young witches, she realizes that her only hope is to embrace her magical blood–or else she might be next.

Hey guys! Shirley here.

I was first introduced to Richelle Mead by her series Vampire Academy (which I gladly take the credit of introducing Lacey to). I absolutely fell in love with her writing, so when I heard that she was creating a spin-off series, I was literally ecstatic. The first book is called Bloodlines, and the Indigo Spell is the 3rd book of the series.

Without spoiling anything, I just want to put it out there that I freaking loved Adrian in this book SO SO MUCH OMG HE IS SO PERFECT WHY CAN’T I BE SYDNEY I DON’T UNDERSTAND.

But I’d recommend you guys reading the Vampire Academy series first, because not only is it amazing, but you’ll have slightly better insight and background information on what’s going on in this series. But honestly this is one of the vampire series that I actually love. It’s far better than Twilight if I do say so myself, and it’s so much more interesting too. I love that Sydney became more accepting to magic and actually began to go against what she has always been taught. And obviously I was literally speechless and swooning so much whenever Adrian came to the scene because HE’S JUST SO PERFECT. OF COURSE THE ENDING JUST KILLED ME. Without spoiling too much, I JUST HATE THE ENDING WHY DID THAT HAVE TO HAPPEN EVERYTHING WAS TURNING OUT SO SO WELL.

I’m sorry I suck at reviewing but I swear to ya’ll I will get better! Basically if you like guys and vampires, I recommend this book. You might possibly fall in love with Adrian Ivashkov too. Sydrian is my OTP.

And of course, 5 hearts!
