One ring plus one wild night equals one crazy love

Sherry Robicheaux loves men. She loves love. And she loves an adventure. So when she meets a mysterious man while working backstage at a country music concert in Vegas, she’s all about what’s happened in Vegas staying there.

Country music superstar Tyler Blue just wants a weekend of anonymity…though there’s something about the spunky waitress with the streaks of purple hair that tempts him like no other. Until the next morning, when they both wake up with fuzzy memories…and rings on their fingers.

Convincing Sherry to maintain the ruse for his public image isn’t the hardest part—it’s reminding himself that their time spent playing husband and wife in her small town of Magnolia Springs can’t last. Tyler’s first love will always be music—and the road is no place for a sweet downhome girl.

excerpt

A look of near awe crossed Sherry’s face. “I’ve always loved dance and gymnastics, but that…Tyler, holy crap!” She laughed again, and the musical sound was like oxygen to starving lungs. “We flew!”

She reached out and fisted his long-sleeved shirt in her hands, beaming up at him with complete gratitude. Not with undeserved adoration or manufactured, starry-eyed lust, but with sincere pleasure and pure feminine appreciation.

That expression was addictive.

It made him feel like he could do anything. Like he was invincible. Worthy. And at the same time, it nearly brought him to his knees. All the groupies in the world couldn’t replicate the satisfaction coursing through him, and suddenly, nothing mattered more, there was nothing he wanted more, than to kiss her.

To feel the lips that had held him captive since he caught her nibbling them in the green room.

To taste the mouth he’d denied himself last night.

Since becoming a man and accomplishing his dream, Tyler could count two times he’d deprived himself of something he truly wanted. The first was passing on the chance to open for Brad Paisley after his mom’s diagnosis. The second was last night. The temptation to take Sherry back to his hotel room had been almost impossible to ignore—but he’d done it. Guilt over his lie of omission kept him from taking what they both obviously wanted. Later, as he’d tossed and turned in an impossibly large bed, he battled back and forth between admitting the truth, doing the right thing, and his selfish need to hold onto the freedom. The sensation of being wanted solely for who he was as a man and not what he could do for their career. Or for bragging rights. By the time the sun rose, Tyler had come to a decision.

This wasn’t some sixth grade first kiss or crush. He and Sherry were adults, and they both knew the score. And right now, all he wanted was a taste.

He was almost positive he’d admit the truth before it went any further.

Before I take her to my bed.

Dropping his gaze to the object of his obsession, Tyler placed his knuckle beneath her chin. He gently tipped it toward him, and cinnamon-scented breath hit his parted lips. His mouth watered in anticipation. Snaking his other arm around her lower back, he tugged her still closer, lifting his eyes to hers.

“I’ve never seen anything so beautiful.”

Sherry’s eyes widened before letting her lashes fall heavily, covering the intoxicating swirl of amber and green. Licking her lips, she said, “Well, the aerialist did most of the work.”

He chuckled. God, she made him smile. This was the happiest he remembered being in a long time. Hell, he was even flirting. When was the last time he’d bothered to do that? Lately, he barely said hello to a woman before she tried slipping him her room key.

Resting his forehead against hers, he breathed in her light floral scent and said, “You know damn well I ain’t talking about your trapeze skills.”

review

This was the CUTEST book ever! I usually don’t read adult contemporary romances (I’m more a fan of new adult and young adult contemps), but this book made me remember how much fun adult contemps are too. I really should read more… But anyways, I loved this book! I couldn’t stop reading. It made me laugh and my heart go crazy for the main characters, because there’s some heartbreak in this book too. And I love when books can make my heart ache a little.

I was hooked on the story from the very beginning, because it is hilarious! Angelle, the main character, is shy and awkward, and even more so around Cane, which makes for best interactions between them. Whenever they’re together, you want to smile and giggle and laugh. They have a strong physical connection towards one another, but neither have acted on it–yet. And it just so happens that Angelle is in need of a fake fiancé and Cane is up for bids at an auction…

So what does Angelle do? She bids for him. And wins. And then asks him to be her pretend fiancé.

See, already, the book is off to a great start. I was laughing out loud so many times, but I was just waiting for the fallout. Pretending to be someone’s fiancé is never a good thing (at least in books it’s not), so when it’s time for Cane to meet Angelle’s parents, something bad just had to happen.

I really liked Angelle. She’s not exactly the tough, badass heroine I usually read. She’s soft and shy and has a heart of gold, and luckily, that really appeals to Cane. Her Cajun culture is a huge part of her life, and I really enjoyed reading about it. Rachel Harris writes it so well, integrates the culture so well, that for someone who knows next to nothing about the Cajun culture, I could easily read the book and not get overwhelmed.

Cane is pretty known to be a player. He doesn’t commit, but women flock to him all the time. But he has a huge heart he saves for his family and best friend. He’s the overprotective type of man. He’s had to keep a dirty secret about his family to make sure his sisters don’t get hurt, but doing so has been messing with his head and heart for a while, and it makes him wary of starting any relationship with any woman. Even Angelle, even though he can’t get her out of his mind 😉

I enjoyed this book so much! I loved reading about the Cajun culture, and I was so invested in Angelle and Cane’s story. I ended up being so happy with the book, since it exceeded my expectations. It was probably because the book made me laugh so much, and went a little angsty and heartbreaking near the end. It’s not all happiness and fluff, which is perfect for me!

Rachel Harris Seven Day Fiancé Teaser 1

Excerpt

Angelle stopped beside a folding table boasting boxes of fresh, crispy cracklins and selected a thick piece. Cane watched, mesmerized, as she puckered those gorgeous lips and blew on the sliver. With a flirtatious glint in her eyes, she held it up to his mouth, and he opened.

Holy crap.

He’d had cracklins before. Fried pork fat was a standard gas station treat, usually shrink-wrapped and stale as shit. But this, fresh from the pot and piping hot, was unbelievable. Cane widened his eyes, and it was possible he even moaned. It was thatgood. And as he swallowed, Angel rewarded him with a rich, throaty laugh.

Ca c’est bon?” she asked, grinning when he grabbed another handful.

He touched her nose and popped a piece in his mouth. “Good would be an understatement.”

Grinning, she took a fried morsel for herself and sent the balding, overweight gentleman tending the table a wink. “Now that’s what we like to hear.” Then she closed her eyes as she savored the treat.

The sounds of Angel moaning, and watching her face soften in the throes of a foodgasm, had to be the sexiest damn thing Cane had ever seen. His pants tightened, embarrassingly so considering he knew the audience was still watching, but what pushed him over the edge was when her eyes opened. The pleasure in them was his undoing.

Feeling the weight of the crowd’s disapproving stares and not giving a damn, figuring now was as good a time as any to give the people the show they clearly wanted, he grasped her hip and tugged her forward, pausing only to inhale her gasp of surprise before brushing her mouth with his.

It was like setting off a damn forest fire.

Angelle, his shocking little hellcat, pounced. Forgetting all about their audience, or maybe not giving a damn either, she wound her arms around his neck, lifted onto her toes, and kissed him back with everything she had. Cane had intended to steal a quick taste, take the edge off his craving for her, and prove their point with the town’s people. But hell if he was gonna be the one to back down now. Tightening his grasp on her slim hips, he brushed his thumbs across the smooth, exposed skin near her waistband. He deepened the kiss, thrilling over her telltale shiver. Whimpering, she yanked on the hair at his nape and sucked his bottom lip into her mouth. Hot damn.

Okay, now he had to start backing down. With all her male relatives watching, not to mention the knives and axes still lying around from the butchering earlier, if Cane valued his life, he needed to wrangle control of the situation. He’d heard patience was a virtue. That was a line of bull—he’d always sucked at waiting for anything he wanted. But for Angel, he was willing to try.

Loosening his grip on her belt loops, Cane slowed the intensity of the kiss. He smoothed the hem of her shirt down, grazed her lips one last time, and, placing his forehead against hers, inhaled through his nose. Sunflowers mixed with cayenne may be his new favorite scent. Angelle released a heavy breath, a flush blooming on her cheeks. She darted a glance at the crowd, then looking into his eyes, grinned lazily. “My goodness. If anyone doubted we were a couple before, I guess that showed them.”
