Summer Lovin’ Day 6: Hound Dogs

Hound Dogs

It’s good to be bad…boys that is! List those bad boys that make your heart go pitter patter in all the wrong right ways!

YAY! It’s one of my favorite topics ever… Bad Boys!! Mwahahaha. If a book’s got a bad boy in it, you bet your ass I’m going to check it out. Bad boys are the best! Nice guys are great too, but there’s just something about those bad boys in fiction that make you swoon so freaking hard.

So here are my all-time favorite bad boys ever! And fair warning, there will be some major swooning going on, especially with these pics I’m about to show you.

Warner from Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

Unravel Me by Tahereh MafiWarner

Warner isn’t just the bad boy. He’s the bad guy. As in, the enemy, the one who’s fighting on the wrong side. Or is he? He was clearly on the bad side in Shatter Me, but in Unravel Me, it’s not certain anymore if he’s fighting for good or for evil. All we know is that Warner is completely in love with Juliette, and oh my god, this boy is just the b e s t. He says the sweetest, most incredible things, but we’re still not sure if he can be a good guy. He kills with no remorse, but he’ll still help out a stray dog. It’s a bit of a mindfuck, but I still love this boy.

Noah Hutchins from Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry

Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarryNoah Hutchins 2

So there’s 2 Bad Boy Noahs in my list, and the first is Noah Hutchins! Sigh, Noah is just the best. He’s got the bad boy thing totally down, with the tattoos, drugs, and attitude.  Plus, he’s got the whole haunted past going on. He’s a total flirt, and doesn’t seem at all like good boyfriend material-until Echo. And with Echo, we get to see the sweet side of this bad boy. He’s a good guy at heart, wanting to take care of his two younger brothers after their parents deaths. All of this makes him sexy as hell, wrapped up in one yummy package!

Travis Maddox from Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuireTravis Maddox

Travis is probably my favorite bad boy ever. Beautiful Disaster is one of my favorite books, and it’s mostly because of this bad boy. To start off, he’s an underground fighter, so he’s aggressive and used to violence, and he’s never once lost a fight. He’s covered in tattoos and he rides a motorcycle. He was a total man-whore before he met Abby, and like Noah, changes once he falls in love. He gets easily jealous and possessive, but he’s also crazy protective and sweet. He’ll do anything and fight anyone to protect the person he loves. I love this bad boy so freaking much!

Jude Ryder from the Crash series by Nicole Wiliiams

Crash 2 by Nicole WilliamsClash by Nicole WilliamsCrush by Nicole WilliamsJude Ryder

Lately, it’s been all about Jude for me, since I recently finished this entire series. I fell completely in love with this bad boy in his first book. He’s a total delinquent. He’s been arrested, been to jail, done drugs, sold drugs, been in fights, and yet why the hell do I love him? Because he’s passionate about the things he cares about and loves, like Lucy. AH, another bad boy who does a 180 for a girl he falls in love with. That’s probably the main appeal for loving them so much! Lucy is Jude’s number one priority, and the things he says and does are just… *swoon*

Noah Shaw from the Mara Dyer series by Michelle Hodkin

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle HodkinThe Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle HodkinNoah Shaw

He’s crude and he’s rude and he’s British… everyone, it’s Noah Shaw! Yay for this bad boy. He smokes and he doesn’t give a crap about anything or anyone. And the best part… he drives a Prius to justify littering all his cigarettes LOL. But oh my god, Noah is crazy hot. Imagine a beautiful British boy wearing a button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up… Showing those sexy forearms… And maybe wearing a tie? Not sure if there’s a tie in his school uniform, but anyways… YUM. And can I just say that these bad boys have got the swooniest lines ever. The things they say… it just melts your heart.

*fans self* Man, these bad boys are just too much. You just can’t help sighing, swooning, and fainting, right?

So who are your favorite bad boys?

Summer Lovin’ Day 5: Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going On

WholeLottaShakin2

Let’s do book shimmies! We made it through the week-long part of the read-a-thon!!! Congratulate yourself and your new bookish friends on their progress so far. Did you get as much read as you wanted to so far? Have you changed your goals for the 24-hr marathon read?

Weeellll… I was able to finish 1 book! Yay! Not really, actually. I haven’t had a lot of time to read recently, with summer classes and doing driver’s ed, sadly.

Books I’ve finished:

House Rules by Chloe Neill

Books to read:

The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa   The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen

highly doubt I’ll finish either of these this week, since I’ll be busy all day Friday and Saturday. SO this readathon is a bit of a fail. Oh well!

Hope everyone had a good 4th of July! (If you’re in the US, of course.)

Summer Lovin’ Day 4: Tears on My Pillow

TearsonmyPillow2

It’s day 4 of the Summer Lovin’ Readathon, and today’s topic is…

Share a quote from your current read or tell us about a book that really pulled on your heart strings. What was it about that book/quote that made you cry?

Well, shucks. I’m not reading anything right now since I just finished a book, BUT I’ll share with you a book that I finished about 2 days ago that became one of my top, all-time favorite books ever… LOSING HOPE by Colleen Hoover!!! Aaahhh I don’t know how to express how much I loved that book. I’ll be posting my review of it soon, so be on the lookout for that!

So. Which quote to choose? I have so many to choose from. I practically highlighted the entire book. Seriously. I think Losing Hope is the book that I highlighted the most quotes in. I probably highlighted over a hundred things. It’s just too heartfelt and poignant and deep and sad and happy, and all narrated by my favorite book boyfriend ever. The sizzlin’ hot, yummylicious, droolworthy Dean Holder. Ahem, where was I? Ah, yes, Dean Holder. This boy. If he were to appear in front of me right now, I would hand over my heart to him and say, “Here. Take it. It’s yours.” *strokes gorgeous his face, cries, and runs away*

But of course he’s NOT REAL, which is the greatest sin in the whole world.

I cried buckets at the end of Losing Hope. No tears on my pillow, but they were soaked in about 4 pieces of tissues. I can’t share which quotes that made me cry, since those would be spoilers, BUT I can share with you my favorite, non-spoilery ones!

I’m pretty sure it’s too soon to love her, but shit. She’s got to stop doing and saying these unexpected things that make me want to fast forward whatever’s going on between us. Because I want to kiss her and make love to her and marry her and make her have my babies and I want it all to happen tonight.
But then we’ll be out of firsts, and the firsts are the best part. Good thing I’m patient.

“I need to know for sure that you’re feeling every single thing that I’m feeling the moment my lips touch yours. Because I want your first kiss to be the best first kiss in the history of first kisses.”

Being with her had me thinking about tomorrow and the day after that and the day after that and next year and forever.

And my all-time favorite quote:

“Fuck all the firsts, Sky. The only thing that matters to me with you are the forevers.”

Other books that made me tear up/cry:

Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover   Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry   Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare   The Fault in Our Stars by John Green   Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs   The Book Thief by Markus Zusak   Slammed by Colleen Hoover

Summer Lovin’ Day 3: Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee

look at me i'm sandra dee It’s day 3 of the Summer Lovin’ Readathon! Woohoo! Today’s topic is about favorite fictional females/heroines, and what makes them so awesome. I have a whole bunch of favorite fictional heroines, but four of them really stand out to me: Katsa, Kate Daniels, Penryn, and Elisa.

  • Katsa (Graceling by Kristin Cashore): Katsa is probably my all-time favorite heroine. She’s tough, she’s kickass, and I just love her so much. She has a Grace that allows her to defeat any opponent, so she’s an incredible fighter. She fights for what she believes is right, and protects those she loves. She has gorgeous eyes, one blue and one green, that indicate her Grace. I love that Katsa knows what she wants. She’s firm and disciplined, and when she makes up her mind about something, she follows through. Her relationship with Po is just the best. They are so cute together, and it was so lovely to see them slowly fall in love with each other after journeying together for so long.

Favorite quote:

“I’m not going to wear a red dress,” she said.
“It would look stunning, My Lady,” she called.
She spoke to the bubbles gathered on the surface of the water. “If there’s anyone I wish to stun at dinner, I’ll hit him in the face.”

  • Kate Daniels (Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews): I love Kate. I like, love her so freaking much. If I were to have a girl crush anybody, it would be on Kate. Seriously, this woman rocks. She’s an insanely incredible sword fighter, and she’s also a powerful magic user. And the best thing about her? She’s insanely funny. I don’t know how many times I’ve laughed because of her, but it was a lot. She’s smart and witty and a badass, and can totally handle the Beast Lord on her own.

Favorite quote:

I gave him a smile. I was aiming for sweet, but he turned a shade paler and scooted a bit farther from me. Note to self: work more on sweet and less on psycho-killer.

  • Penryn (Angelfall by Susan Ee): Penryn’s a survivor. She lives in a post-apocalyptic world that was decimated by angels, and all she can do is try to survive one day at a time. And she has an incredible heart, because once her sister is kidnapped, Penryn stops at nothing to get her back, even aligning herself with an angel. She learns to fight and goes deep within enemy territory to save her sister.

Favorite quote:

“I’m not moping,” I whisper back.
“Of course you’re not. A girl like you, spending time with a warrior demigod like me. What’s to mope about? Leaving a wheelchair behind couldn’t possibly show up on the radar compared to that.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me.”
“I never kid about my warrior demigod status.”
“Oh. My. God.” I lower my voice, having forgotten to whisper. “You are nothing but a bird with an attitude. Okay, so you have a few muscles, I’ll grant you that. But you know, a bird is nothing but a barely evolved lizard. That’s what you are.”

  • Elisa (Fire and Thorns series by Rae Carson): After leading her people to war against their enemies, and winning, Elisa becomes queen of her kingdom. She learns to be strong, tough, and unwavering. She’s loyal and full of heart, and she’s only 17. She has to learn to find a way to lead and rule her kingdom so it won’t fall apart, and she does so with confidence and the power of her Godstone. I love that she grows and matures so much from the first book, where she was scared and insecure. Now, she’s tougher, a fighter, and the ruler of her kingdom

Favorite quote:

“Given a choice between my life and yours, I will choose mine. Every time. Without hesitation.”

So there you have it! My favorite female characters. And Day 3 of the Readathon is finished!

Summer Lovin’ Day 2: You’re the One That I Want

YouretheOneThatIWant2

Day 2 of the Summer Lovin’ Readathon is about books that are on the top of my must-have summer reads list. I get to share with you all the books I’m dying to read this summer, as well as the books that I highly recommend reading.

books to read

So these are the books that I have on my readathon goal, and hopefully I’ll have time to read them this week. I’ve gotten farther on House Rules, but I’m not sure when I’ll finish. The Eternity Cure and The Moon and More are the ones I really want to read soon (they’re in my room right now just staring at me). Twisted Perfection and Forever Too Far are my extras; if I have time left during the readathon, I’ll be reading those.
House Rules by Chloe Neill   The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa   The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen   Twisted Perfection by Abbi Glines   Forever Too Far by Abbi Glines

And THESE are the books that I am so excited to be released this summer!

  • Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews (releases July 30th 2013) The Kate Daniels series is one of my favorite series ever! It has the best characters who are tough and badass and so freaking hilarious. This series made me laugh so much while reading. So excited for more Kate and Curran!
  • Shooting Scars by Karina Halle (releases August 20th 2013) I read Sins & Needles 2 months ago (my review), and oh my god, it just blew my mind. It was crazy and intense, and it ended with a cliffhanger! So duh, I need to read Shooting Scars asap! (And just look at that back on the cover!)
  • Origin by Jennifer L. Armentrout (releases August 27th 2013) Also a book that follows a cliffhanger! And it was a major cliffhanger. I’ve been dying to know what happens next, but Origin is just too far away! But I’m so excited that it has both the male and female leads’ POVs. Can’t wait to read from Daemon’s POV!
  • The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson (releases August 27th 2013) The Fire and Thorns series is one of my absolute favorite fantasy series ever. The first book was really good, but the second, Crown of Embers, just completely solidified my love for the series. Elisa is just the most kickass heroine ever! But… HECTOR!!!! *cries*
  • Untold by Sarah Rees Brennan (releases August 29th 2013) This book. This. book. This is the book that I would give my first child for. The ending just broke my heart. *tears up* Sarah Rees Brennan, you are an evil person. Why did you write the most amazing book ever, but make the characters go through hell at the end? WHY??
