Welcome to today’s stop on the blog tour for Everything I Left Unsaid by M. O’Keefe! You can check out my review for this fascinating, entertaining book here!

M. O’Keefe’s Top Eight Favorite Cliffhangers

Man, I love a good cliffhanger, that giddy but slack-jawed feeling that comes when you think you have a book figured out and then WHAM! The doors get blown off. And a good cliffhanger is a tough thing to create – it has to be shocking but not so shocking as to be unbelievable. You want readers to fumble for their keys or their computer so they can quickly go and get the next book. You definitely don’t want readers to throw books at the wall and write hate mail.

Fine line, very fine line.

My book Everything I Left Unsaid has a cliffhanger, a doozy of one and I really hope no one is throwing their books at the wall.

In honor of that here’s my list of favorite cliffhangers.

  1. The Captive Prince by CS Pacat – I’m waiting for the third book right now and I honestly don’t know what to believe. Is Laurent manipulating everything? Or are his feelings real? WHAT IS HAPPENING?
  2. A Dance with Dragons  by George R. R. Martin – Jon Snow NOOOOOOOOOOO!
  3. The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simmons. I don’t want to tell you how much money I spent for a foreign English language edition of the second book because it was going to be printed in Canada for another year. All because I HAD TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO ALEX!
  4. The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning – this was one of the best reading experiences of my life. We were coming home from a cottage and I was reading the third book (I’d read the first two at the cottage – ignoring everything except Barrons) in the series and I made my husband pull over so I could use the wi-fi at a Starbucks so I could download the next one.
  5. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins – this series broke the mold. I might have pretended to be sick when the third book was released.
  6. One Week Girlfriend by Monica Murphy – I love Monica’s writing. I love her characters and like many romance readers I gobbled this  series up.
  7. Shari Slade had a serial running in her newsletter that was utterly addictive – so many cliffhangers, so much gritty wrongness – I love it. The Serial is The Devil’s Host MC – go check it out!
  8. The entire Outlander series  – I feel like I should reread the series now because I can imagine Sam Heughan as Jamie and that makes all the wondering and the angst even more powerful!

How about you? Which are your favorite cliffhangers? Or do you hate them?

Fans of Jodi Ellen Malpas, K. Bromberg, and Joanna Wylde will be unable to resist this sexy, deeply intimate tale of a woman running from her past, and the darkly mysterious man who sets her free.

I didn’t think answering someone else’s cellphone would change my life. But the stranger with the low, deep voice on the other end of the line tempted me, awakened my body, set me on fire. He was looking for someone else. Instead he found me.

And I found a hot, secret world where I felt alive for the first time.

His name was Dylan, and, strangely, he made me feel safe. Desired. Compelled. Every dark thing he asked me to do, I did. Without question. I longed to meet him, but we were both keeping secrets. And mine were dangerous. If I took the first step, if I got closer to Dylan—emotionally, physically—then I wouldn’t be hiding anymore. I would be exposed, with nothing left to surrender but the truth. And my truth could hurt us both.

about the author button

Molly O’Keefe has always known she wanted to be a writer (except when she wanted to be a florist or a chef and the brief period of time when she considered being a cowgirl). And once she got her hands on some romances, she knew exactly what she wanted to write.

She published her first Harlequin romance at age 25 and hasn’t looked back. She loves exploring every character’s road towards happily ever after.

Originally from a small town outside of Chicago, she went to university in St. Louis where she met and fell in love with the editor of her school newspaper. They followed each other around the world for several years and finally got married and settled down in Toronto, Ontario. They welcomed their son into their family in 2006, and their daughter in 2008. When she’s not at the park or cleaning up the toy room, Molly is working hard on her next novel, trying to exercise, stalking Tina Fey on the internet and dreaming of the day she can finish a cup of coffee without interruption.

Welcome to today’s stop on the blog tour for Felix by Elizabeth Reyes! We have Elizabeth’s top ten lines/scenes from Felix, an excerpt, and a fantastic giveaway!

Top 10 of Elizabeth’s Lines/Scenes from Felix

Oh my favorite lines from Felix! This should be fun!

Okay this is kind of tricky because there are some favorite moments I CAN’T mention since they include spoilers. So here are some of my favorite non spoilerish lines! =/

Number 10: In the beginning Ella tries in vain to deny her attraction to Felix.

Ella could definitely see why so many women wanted a piece of him. As much as she hated to admit it. He was amazing.

Number 9: Famous last words

“Kind of plain-looking nice girl.” Felix winked at Abel. “So far it sounds like you got nothing to worry about.”

Number 8: The moment it hits him.

Ella was something else and then it hit him. That’s what it was. She was what he’d heard so much about and had never gotten it. Ella had natural beauty.

Number 7: Hector’s amusement about razzing Felix and what he’s not admitting yet that he feels for Ella.

“I wasn’t”—Felix turned again to make sure Ella and Carmen weren’t on their way back—“hogging her okay?”
Charlee laughed. “Are we embarrassing you, Felix?”
“No!”
Hector laughed now too. “How cute,” he said in the most annoying coddling voice. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen your face get all red.”

Number 6: More of Hectors amusement

“Oh, I know who that is,” he heard Hector say. “That’s the guy working with Drew on the documentary: Conner. Charlee mentioned he had a thing for Ella and would be coming down to ask her out.”
Felix stopped in his tracks and spun around. Hector’s head fell back and he laughed. “I fucking knew it!” He shoved Noah in the arm. “Didn’t I tell you?”

Number 5: That first moment when the reader can say finally! *sigh*

Felix let go of her hand and brought his hands up to cup her face, kissing her softly again because he just couldn’t resist anymore. “I’m asking you to give me a chance,” he said between kisses.
“A chance for what?” she whispered but kissed him back as eagerly as he’d begun to kiss her.
“To prove to you that I want more.”

Number 4: A little insight on Felix’s anatomy. 😉

“You know they say he’s hung like a—”
“Carmen!” Ella gasped, nudging her friend. She covered her own mouth and looked around but had to laugh. “How in the world would the tabloids know that?”
“Easy,” Carmen said, giggling. “You know the stalkarazzi stops at nothing, and apparently, he sunbathes naked at that resort he frequents so much down in Mexico.”

Number 3: Sweet little Ella can be naughty

“I don’t have to go home tonight. We can spend all morning at your place tomorrow if that’s something that might interest you. It’d be nice if I could show you my gratitude for making me feel like such a princess.” She licked the rim of the ice cream cone slowly then licked her lips and smiled. “All day.”

Number 2: How can an alpha moment not make it into my top 5?

Noah looked up at Felix and smiled. “She’s fine. Just lost track of time. She’s already called Nel—”
“With who?” Felix demanded. Noah gave him a strange look. “Ask her who the fuck she was with.” Gio finished and Felix pulled his hands free. “Give me that. I’ll ask her myself.” The second the phone was at his ear he did. “Who were you with?”

Number 1: Understanding Felix’s awesome cover.

The moment he was off the phone with her, the phone slipped out of his hand and he fell to a knee and crouched over but didn’t collapse like he thought he might. One knee was still up and he used it to support his arm; his other fist pushed against the floor, keeping him from just falling over.

World famous boxing champ, Felix Sanchez, had it all—the fame, the fortune, and all the women any man could ask for. When the hours of partying followed by hours spent in court and in rehab begin to outnumber the hours he spends training, losing his title comes as no surprise to everyone. The world assumes he deserved to lose it.

Only those closest to Felix know the real truth behind his sudden downward spiral. And if Felix has his way, no one else ever will. With an uncertain future ahead of him, he heads back to his roots—5th Street—the gym that started it all for him. It’s where he meets the humble but mighty little Ms. Ella.

The only times Felix had ever decided to forgo the usual meaningless fling and try a real relationship he was burned badly. Now the adorable but tenacious self-defense instructor has him considering this love thing one more time.

Then just when he begins to worry that his past is letting his possessive and jaded heart get the best of him, he’s blindsided in the most brutal way—he’s brought to his knees—to what could be the one low in his life he may never recover from.

Now here’s an excerpt from Felix! ❤

excerpt

“No, not Ella,” he lied. “One of the guys I’ve been working with.”

Hector turned to look at him, still smirking. “You sure? Because you looked like you were getting ready to go talk to Ella and, uh, her friend there. Who is that she’s having lunch with?”

“I dunno,” Felix lied again, looking around trying his damnedest to look uninterested in Ella and her friend.

“The guy I’m looking for isn’t here,” he said and started to walk away.

“Oh, I know who that is,” Hector said. “That’s the guy working with Drew. Charlee mentioned he had a thing for Ella and would be coming down to ask her out.”

Felix stopped in his tracks and spun around. Hector’s head fell back and he laughed. “I fucking knew it!”

He shoved Noah in the arm. “Didn’t I tell you?”
