An elf prince on the verge of losing himself to the darkness, Vail is maddened by the forty-two centuries he was under the control of a witch and forced to war with his brother. Now, he roams Hell seeking an escape from his terrible past and the heads of all who bear magic. When demons of the Fifth Realm capture him, he sees a chance to end his existence, but when he wakes in a cell to a beautiful female, he finds not death but his only shot at salvation—his true fated mate.

Captured by the enemy of the Third Realm when the war ended, Rosalind has spent months in the cells of the Fifth Realm with her magic bound, forced to heal the new king’s demon warriors, and haunted by the lives she has taken. When she’s brought to heal an unconscious man, she discovers her only hope of escape has come in the form of her worst nightmare and the first part of a prediction that might spell her doom—a devastatingly handsome and dangerous dark elf prince.

Unwilling to fall under the control of anyone ever again, Vail must escape before the Fifth King can use him as a pawn in a deadly game of revenge, but he cannot leave without Rosalind, the woman who looks at him with dark desire in her stunning eyes and awakens a fierce hunger in his heart. A witch who drives him mad with need even as the darkness within whispers she will enslave him too.

Can Rosalind escape her fate as they embark on a journey fraught with danger and resist the temptation of her rogue elf prince? And can Vail overcome the memories that madden him in order to seize his chance for salvation and the heart of his fated female forever?

I absolutely love paranormal romance, and Felicity Heaton is definitely a go-to author for that genre for me. Her stories are so well written and complex (and freaking hot too), and her latest release is no different. Tempted by a Rogue Prince is the third book in the Eternal Mates series, a series I’ve come to love more and more with each book I read. I had high expectations for this book because, hello, it’s VAIL’S book, and Felicity Heaton absolutely did not disappoint! I wholeheartedly LOVED Tempted by a Rogue Prince!

Vail’s book was one of my highly anticipated releases–ever since Vail was introduced in Kissed by a Dark Prince (book 1), I wanted him to have a story, a HEA, so badly. Vail, also known as the Mad Elf Prince, is the brother of Loren (from Kissed by a Dark Prince). Vail had been under the control of an evil witch for 42 centuries, but after the events in Claimed by a Demon King (book 2), he’s free from her control, but broken and devastated by the damage he’s done in those 42 centuries. He holds so much darkness and guilt for the number of people he’d killed under the witch’s control, and he’s one of the most tortured characters I’ve ever read. My heart broke so much for Vail–for his guilt, suffering, and self-loathing. His story is definitely not an easy one, but I was riveted from beginning to end.

In Tempted by a Rogue Prince, Vail wakes up in the cells of the Fifth Realm, and it’s there that he meets Rosalind, a captured witch who has been forced to heal demons. Vail hates her on sight–after experiencing millennia under a witch’s control, he would never allow himself to be subjugated under another one. But Rosalind turns out to be Vail’s ki’ara, his fated female, so Vail is understandably conflicted. A witch ruined his life, so how could he fall for one?

Rosalind was such a great heroine. She was the perfect match for Vail, despite being a witch, or maybe because she is one. She’s tough–she’s had to endure being in the hands of the demons of the Fifth Realm and survive. She has a great heart, and that heart makes her want to help Vail, even knowing he might kill her. She herself holds guilt for killing in the war, even though it was to protect herself and her friends.

Both Rosalind and Vail have good reasons for staying away from each other, but they also have an undeniable chemistry. I was so impressed with the direction Felicity Heaton took their story. Vail needed to be handled firmly but delicately after over 4,000 years of being controlled, and that’s exactly how Rosalind is with him. He’s incredibly vulnerable, yet strong at the same time. I loved how well written Vail’s emotional turmoil is–it made my heart ache to see how he goes back and forth between wanting to kill Rosalind for being a witch and protecting her because she’s his mate. And poor Rosalind, having to deal with Vail. But I loved her for not backing down from him, even though he scared her. Their relationship grew at the perfect pace–so they don’t get hot and heavy quickly. (But when they do, it’s HOT. It’s Felicity Heaton, so what else needs to be said?)

Tempted by a Rogue Prince is an emotional, heart-wrenching roller coaster that fans of the series won’t be disappointed with. Vail and Rosalind’s story has easily become my favorite of the series so far, and it’ll be tough to top them. But since Felicity Heaton does PNR so well (I’m always so impressed with the world-building, the characters, the fight scenes, everything!), I have no doubts I’ll love anything more from this series.

review

I’m a bit in love with Nina Lane’s writing, so when I found out she was writing another book, of course I had to read it! And it sold me even more that Break the Sky is a spinoff of the Spiral of Bliss series, which I adore. The heroine is Kelsey March, professor at King’s University, and friend of Dean West (from the Spiral of Bliss series). The hero is Dean’s younger brother, Archer, the quintessential bad boy. The two of them meet and it’s, in a word, explosive. I absolutely loved how their story played out, and I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect journey for Kelsey and Archer.

The book is told through Archer and Kelsey’s POVs, which made the experience so much better. I loved being inside both of their heads–they are two complete opposites, but somehow, together they’re perfect.

Kelsey and Archer have an explosive chemistry that heats up the pages so easily. Archer wants to pursue this chemistry, see how their physical attraction plays out, but Kelsey is reserved.

Kelsey is a headstrong, intelligent, sexy woman who’s stubborn and definitely not shy. It took me a while to warm up to her, actually, which surprised me because normally she’s the kind of heroine I’d adore from the start. But it was her stubbornness that made it hard for me to love her at first, though I definitely loved her in the end. She’s very hostile to Archer–she flat-out refuses to have anything to do with him at first, but Archer isn’t deterred, which only made him even more sexy to me. But… since Kelsey can’t get Archer out of her mind, she finally agrees to give in to Archer.

And holy hell, Archer!!! He is utter perfection!!

Archer is pretty much sex incarnate. Seriously, he makes my brain stop for a bit because of how ridiculously hot he is. It’s not just that he’s the ‘bad boy’ who’s fiercely independent and can never settle down for long. It’s the fact that he’s trying make amends with his brother, and make himself a better person–for himself, for Kelsey. It’s the sweet side that he shows Kelsey, the one that shows how much he grows to care for her. Archer warmed and broke my heart so many times throughout the book, because all he wants is a place to belong and there are so many dimensions to him, so much depth, that I couldn’t help but fall in love with him.

I wondered how he could seem both whole and broken at the same time. He was like a painting whose varnish had cracked over time and yet was all the more beautiful because of the damage.

The first half of the story was good. I enjoyed it. But it was the second half of the book that sealed the deal for me. I fell head over heels in love with the second half. This is where I finally felt that emotional connection between Archer and Kelsey. Archer brings out the vulnerable side of Kelsey–she’s always tough and stubborn, but it was so sweet to see how Archer breaks down her walls. They share so many tender moments together that it’s so obvious that the two of them are falling in love.

“Don’t be scared, storm girl,” he said. “I’ll protect you.”

And oh. my. gosh. Did I mention how insanely HOT Archer is? Two words. Dirty. Talk. Archer is that sex-on-a-stick, panty-melting kind of man, and when he’s in bed? I have no words. I was honestly fanning myself anytime Archer opened his mouth. Good dirty talkers do me in so easily, and Archer is an excellent one. And I just love how alpha-maley he gets over Kelsey! *Sigh*

Mine.
The word flared in my mind. I’d never had anything that was really mine. Even my family hadn’t been mine. But Kelsey… I would never think of her any other way.

This book is just the perfect mix of sexy and sweet. Both Kelsey and Archer have so much depth, and I applaud Nina Lane for creating these characters that I grew to love so much. So much emotion is packed into this book–it was an exhilarating, intense, beautiful book to read. Nina Lane fans, I promise you won’t be disappointed. It was an absolute joy to read Break the Sky.

Archer was a storm, no doubt, one who electrified and consumed me, but he was also every part of the storm. He was the calm right in the center of it. He was the blue sky behind the clouds. He was the sheltering place where I could crawl into safety.

3 hearts for the first half of the book and 5 hearts for the second so… 4 hearts!

Break the Sky is spinoff of the Spiral of Bliss series, featuring Archer West’s brother Dean and Dean’s wife Liv. As Break the Sky is a standalone, you don’t have to read the Spiral of Bliss series, but I’d still highly recommend it! It’s one of the most beautiful romances I’ve ever read.

What does Drew Evans have to say next? Find out in this forty page short story, filled with his sexy charm, unique advice and hilarious one-liners.

Marriage: the final frontier. Steven went first. He was kind of our test subject. Like those monkeys that NASA sent off into space in the fifties, all the while knowing they’d never make it back.

And now another poor rocket is ready to launch.

But this isn’t just any posh New York wedding. You’ve seen my friends, you’ve met our families, you know you’re in for a treat. Everyone wants their wedding to be memorable. This one’s going to be un-frigging-forgettable.

OMG!! I. Love. Matthew Fisher!! I never expected it, but I love him JUST as much as I love Drew! While Drew had that ‘womanizer’ thing going on (until Kate, of course), Matthew is the kind of guy that you can’t help but LOVE. He’s sweet, charming, sexy, and just a plain ol’ good guy. He’s friendly with the ladies, has a fabulous time with them, but he’s not as bad as Drew was. So Matthew is pretty much perfect hero material–and when you partner him up with Delores Warren? You get one fun, wild ride.

This is a story about a player, who meets a slightly crazy girl. They fall in love and the player changes his ways forever. It’s a story you’ve probably heard before, maybe even from my buddy, Drew Evans. But the thing is, while he and Kate were figuring their shit out? There was this whole alternate universe going on with Delores and me that you don’t know about. So stick around, even if you think you already know the ending. Because the greatest part of a road trip isn’t arriving at your destination. It’s all the wild stuff that happens along the way.

This quote is the absolute PERFECT way to describe Matthew and Dee’s story. No matter what you think you might already know of their story, Tamed still ends up being unique, refreshing, and such a fun read. Matthew’s voice is distinctly different from Drew’s, all while keeping up the hilarity that is the Tangled series. I absolutely loved reading from Matthew’s POV–his and Drew’s relationship as well as his and Alexandra, Drew’s sister’s, relationship, had me laughing so much!

We already know who Delores is. Dee is that fierce kind of girl who’ll protect her best friend with her claws out. She’s tough, stubborn, insanely smart, hilarious, and so much fun. Everyone who knows Dee is slightly afraid of her. And that’s just how Dee likes it. She doesn’t need anyone getting close to her. She doesn’t let anyone get under her skin–until she meets Matthew. They were supposed to just have a one-night-stand, but that one-night-stand becomes so much more.

Matthew has never met anyone like Dee–he sees the tough persona she puts on as well as the vulnerable side she hides. Dee’s been burned more than once, and doesn’t trust easily. Matthew grows to care for Dee more and more, and before he knows it, he’s in love with her. I love Matthew’s humor, but the best part I love about Matthew is the soft side he shows to Dee. I loved seeing Matthew in love, seeing him fight to bring down all of Dee’s walls.

I’ll work at convincing her, that I’m one of the chosen few she can give her trust to.
Because Delores is worth waiting and working for.

*Sigh* I swoon madly for Matthew.

Emma Chase once again writes a story I fell so easily in love with. Her stories and characters are just so addicting. And Emma’s male POV is once again top-notch. Once I picked Tamed up, I couldn’t put it down–this book is sweet, heartfelt, hilarious, romantic, and I never wanted it to end. Matthew and Dee definitely don’t have an easy road ahead of them–there’s some hurt and there’s some angst, but they’ll fight for each other because they’re perfect together. Tamed made me smile, laugh, and cheer for Dee and Matthew the whole way through, and I loved it.

ARE YOU READY TO TAKE A WALK?

Alasdair Masters is in a rut. He just hit forty, has been nearly celibate for the past year, and his life has turned into a daily sequence of lonely patterns that revolve around avoiding human contact.

His tidy life is turned on its head when a hot young blonde at the gym that’s been pseudo-stalking him decides to rock his world. A very young blonde. Way, way too young for him. The problem is, he can’t seem to tell her no, and she just keeps coming back for more.

It doesn’t help that he’s ninety percent sure she’s a criminal, and still, he can’t seem to turn her down. What is a dull introvert to do when a chaotic cyclone that oozes sexuality comes twisting into his life?

At first, he thinks she’ll give him a heart attack, but after his twenty-year marriage ended a year ago, he’s been a little lost, and when she comes crashing into his life, he realizes that he’s never felt more alive.

Is a walk on the wild side just what he needs to get his on track or a disaster in the making? Is it possible for someone that much younger to be just what he needs, or is she a fortune hunter, as everyone keeps telling him? Is it his hormones telling him that the mysterious younger woman is the one, or could it be more?

I’m not the biggest fan of serials, but every once in a while I’ll try them out. They’re usually a hit or miss for me, but fortunately, I enjoyed The Wild Side so freaking much!! It was funny, it was sexy, and it was outrageously scandalous! I don’t think I’ve read a book that made me blush so much!

This raunchy book is definitely not for the faint of heart. It’s erotica to the max. It’s hot and wild and sensual and all-around one of the sexiest books I’ve ever read (but it’s not the sexiest book–the top spot for that belongs to Double Time). So sex is like, the main ingredient in The Wild Side–it’s what brings together 40-year-old Alasdair and 24-year-old Iris, after all. The age gap was honestly the thing that drew me into this book in the first place. An older man and a much younger woman? Uh, yeah, I definitely had to check this book out.

Alasdair, or Dair, is a… different sort of hero. Iris is a different sort of heroine as well, and it was refreshing to read about characters who were like nothing I’ve read before. Dair is a successful author who was recently divorced. He’s the type of guy who doesn’t go looking for trouble, but trouble certainly finds him at his gym in the form of a gorgeous 24-year-old woman.

She was young.
I was old.
She was wild.
I was tame.

I really liked Dair for most of the book. I didn’t expect this, but Dair is so funny! The book is told solely in Dair’s POV, and his narration is fantastic. He’s got this sarcastic, blunt, sort of resigned way of thinking, and I loved it. He made me laugh quite a bit, because he’s so utterly baffled by the fact that Iris wants him. He thinks of himself as an old, slightly creepy man for wanting someone so out of his league.

She sat beside me, our hips touching. She patted my knee and went to town on the Popsicle like she was giving me the show of my life.
“Jesus,” I muttered as it disappeared completely into her mouth.
I was so outclassed here.

But the body wants what the body wants, and Dair and Iris embark on a sexual relationship, despite the fact that Dair honestly knows absolutely nothing about Iris. Her character is mysterious, and everything about her is hidden. We don’t know who she is, what she does, or if she genuinely wants to be with Dair (though I got the feeling she genuinely did want to be with him). She doesn’t open up, no matter what Dair does. I was okay with not knowing much about Iris, because all in good time, right? So as a serial, the pacing of this first part of the story is good, but I definitely need some answers in the next book.

The best part about Dair, what drew me to his character, a 40-year-old man who I normally wouldn’t be able to connect with, was his need of a connection. Ever since his divorce, he’s been quiet and reclusive. He doesn’t really have a purpose in life anymore–all he does is do stuff as an author and go to the gym. It’s not a very glamorous life. But Iris is able to wake Dair up–awaken his life and his sexuality.

The point was that this beautiful woman would let me take her every way I could think of, and I relished that.
Loved it. Needed it.
She made me feel so desirable, when I’d felt so unwanted for so long.

So all in all, this was a mind boggling book (with tons of hot sex). I expected some answers and only got more questions (which I’m hoping will be answered soon!!). I had expectations after reading the blurb, and The Wild Side certainly didn’t disappoint. It’s a fast read with never a dull moment–I did mention how ridiculously sexy this book is, right? The song Drunk in Love by Beyoncé ft. Jay Z is featured a few times throughout the book, and the song is pretty much a perfect match with the story. This book had me hooked and fascinated from the first page, and I could never predict what would happen next. So if you’re planning on reading The Wild Side (which you should!), be prepared for a wild ride.

4 hearts!

In this sequel to Wallbanger, fan favorites Caroline Reynolds and Simon Parker negotiate the rollercoaster of their new relationship while house-sitting in Sausalito.

Playing house was never so much fun—or so confusing. With her boss on an extended honeymoon, Caroline’s working crazy-long hours to keep the interior design company running—especially since she’s also the lead designer for the renovation of a gorgeous old hotel. And with Simon, her hotshot photographer boyfriend, gallivanting all over the world for his job, the couple is heavy-duty into “absence makes the heart grow fonder” mode. No complaints about the great reunion sex, though!

Then a trip back east to his childhood home has Simon questioning his nomadic lifestyle. He decides to be home more. A lot more. And he wants Caroline home more, too. Though their friends’ romantic lives provide plenty of welcome distraction, eventually Caroline and Simon have to sort out their relationship. Sure, more togetherness is a good thing—but does less traveling and working have to mean the other extreme? Apple pie and picket fences? With this second book in the Cocktail series, USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton delivers another delicious, frothy confection of a book, shaking up her characters, stirring in laugh-out-loud humor, and serving sizzling romance straight up!

In case you didn’t know, I’m in love with Caroline and Simon. Like, seriously IN LOVE. I fell so hard for their story in Wallbanger, and I was desperate for more about them. And thank goodness Alice Clayton wrote Rusty Nailed!! I pretty much devoured Rusty Nailed in one sitting. I seriously don’t think I could ever get tired of reading about Simon or Caroline.

Rusty Nailed is a continuation of Simon and Caroline’s story from Wallbanger, so RN definitely should NOT be read as a standalone. Simon and Caroline have been together for a year, and life is… well, pretty great for them.

After a year, he could still bring me to my knees in seconds with one touch, one kiss, one look.

They still have sexy times, they still have those hilarious, sweet moments. Simon is off traveling the world most of the time because of his work as a photographer, but Caroline’s okay with that as she’s working hard at her job as an interior designer. The two of them have reached the point in their relationship where there’s not much angst or drama. I loved seeing how even though Simon is away many times throughout the year, the second he comes home, it’s like he and Caroline have never been apart. Simon is seriously the sweetest, and the two of them still have such a great chemistry with each other.

When you were in a long-distance relationship, of course you made the most of the time you were together. But sometimes, it was the unexpected that really made the difference. The unexpected emotions you were hit with when you saw that face, looked into those eyes, felt those lips. The unexpected reminder of why you fell in love with this person could hit you so powerfully. And this was that time.

We have Caroline and Simon’s friends’ stories entwined in the book too, which I was so happy about! Mimi and Ryan are engaged, Sophia and Neil have broken up (whaaat?), and Caroline’s boss Jillian is getting married. I love Caroline and Simon, don’t get me wrong, but their friends are so freaking hilarious!!! Caroline and Simon are funny enough, but add in the antics of their friends, and you have the laugh-out-loud humor that is an Alice Clayton classic.

So things are cruising along nicely for Caroline and Simon… until Caroline’s boss heads off on her honeymoon, leaving Caroline in charge of an entire business. Caroline has to work long-ass hours to keep the business running, but on the bright side, her boss left her in charge of a beautiful home to “house-sit” with Simon. Yeah, “house-sit”, as in have crazy monkey sex all over the place. 😉

Another aspect I loved about the book was how much more serious both Simon and Caroline were about their relationship. Simon is a very light-hearted guy–he’s sweet, funny, charming, and it’s enough to make us forget that he was orphaned at eighteen when his parents died. But in Rusty Nailed, we finally get to see the more vulnerable side to Simon–he finally opens up more about his past and his parents. Which only served to make me fall even more head-over-heels in love with this man.

But with Caroline getting more and more stressed over her temporary new job, and Simon getting contemplative about his and Caroline’s relationship, life’s not all sunshine and rainbows anymore. Caroline barely has any time to spend with Simon, and Simon is home a lot more now that he’s not taking many jobs.

Being half of a “we” is sometimes hard.

The two of them have to deal with what it means to be in a steady relationship, and it was so great to see Simon and Caroline discover that together. The two of them could not be more perfect for each other, so I was rooting for them all the way. They have their bumps along the road (i.e. some arguments, but nothing that a little lovin’ can’t solve 😉 ) but when the going gets tough, these two don’t get going. They stay with each other, hash it out with each other, and do what real couples do–they talk (and have sex. Of course).

“I adore you, and I want a home. Again. With you.”~Simon

I have to say though, I didn’t love Rusty Nailed as much as Wallbanger. Did I expect to? Maybe… but just because I didn’t love this book as much as I did Wallbanger doesn’t mean I love Caroline and Simon any less. Pink Nightie Girl and Wallbanger for the win! The book did move too slow in some parts, where some communication could have easily solved everything, and Caroline was being too stubborn for too long. But still, how could I not love a book about Simon and Caroline? I really enjoyed reading more of their lives past Wallbanger–I was laughing and swooning the whole time reading. I can’t ever get enough of these two!
