Kate Meader’s blazing Hot in Chicago firefighter series has “everything you want in a romance” (RT Book Reviews, Top Pick)! The flames of desire burn out of control in this sexy third novel when ex-lovers unexpectedly reunite for a sizzling affair that will have the director yelling, “Quiet on the set!”

Actor Molly Cade, America’s fallen sweetheart, finally has her shot at a Hollywood comeback with a dramatic new role as a tough-as-nails firefighter that promises to propel her back to the big time and restore her self-respect.

Wyatt Fox, resident daredevil at Engine Co. 6, needs a low-key job to keep him busy while he recovers from his latest rescue stunt. Consulting on a local movie shoot should add just enough spark to his day. Especially when in struts Molly Cade: the woman who worked his heart over good, and then left him in the Windy City dust.

Their story is straight out of a script: irrepressible, spunky heroine meets taciturn, smoldering hero. But these two refuse to be typecast, and when the embers of an old love are stoked, someone is bound to get burned…

I have been waiting for this book from the moment I finished Playing with Fire (one of my favorite reads from last year) and Kate Meader didn’t disappoint. I expected a fabulous contemporary romance packed with heat and chemistry, and she definitely delivered. I’ve been intrigued by the eldest Dempsey sibling since the first Hot in Chicago book, and now that I’ve read Wyatt’s story, he just might be my favorite tall, dark, brooding firefighter I’ve ever read.

Years ago, before Wyatt joined the CFD and Molly became a famous actress, they were just two strangers who met at a bar – and had a week filled with mind-blowing sex. They never got each others’ names and never saw each other again… until Wyatt is hired to help out with Molly’s production of her new movie, and these two are thrown together once again. Time has definitely not put a damper on the wicked hot chemistry and lust they have – if anything, their chemistry burns even hotter this time around. But with Molly living the celebrity lifestyle with zero privacy and Wyatt living the quiet life with a secret he doesn’t want out in the open, can an actual relationship ever work out between them?

I loved how well Molly and Wyatt meshed, despite being total opposites. Molly is an outgoing, sassy sweetheart, though the past year for her has put her through the wringer and made her develop trust issues. Wyatt is protective, loyal, and is the only one of his siblings that likes to stick to himself. But he finds himself reaching out more when he’s with Molly, and I loved that she brought that out in him. These two are absolutely meant to be together – they make the sweetest (and HOTTEST) couple!

If you love your romances with sexy men in uniform, look no further than the Hot in Chicago series. These firefighters (and a mayor) will seriously melt your panties off – Kate Meader knows how to write her dirty talk and alpha heroes. And the tight-knit family relationship of the Dempseys is sure to warm your heart. I highly recommend this series if you like well written, steamy contemporary romances!

Release Day Review: Outsider by Olivia Cunning

Outsider by Olivia Cunning
Series: Exodus End #2 (full reading order below)
Publication Date: September 27th 2016
Links: Ebook • Paperback • Goodreads
Source: I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review

Reagan Elliot should be living her dream…

She’s touring with Exodus End as their new rhythm guitarist and gaining more notoriety and fame than she ever imagined possible.

She’s earned the devoted love of not only one, but two spectacular men. Her committed threesome with sexy guitarist Trey Mills and her hunky bodyguard Ethan Conner is stable, loving, deep, and satisfying for all involved.

But sometimes the world sees things differently and is determined to destroy what it doesn’t understand.

Can Reagan’s relationship with Trey and Ethan survive the cruel backlash of the media, her family, and a bigoted public? Or will the talented musician lose everything she holds dear in the face of her own burgeoning doubts?

Olivia Cunning is my rock star/erotica queen. I absolutely adore her Sinners on Tour series, and I’m loving the spinoff series, Exodus End. You don’t necessarily have to read Sinners before Exodus End, but I highly recommend it. For Outsider, I definitely suggest you read at least Double Time, since that is Reagan, Trey, and Ethan’s first book. Their story continues in Outsider – and if you loved them in the first place, get ready for more smokin’ hot threesomes with them!

Reagan’s life was forever changed when she was chosen to be Exodus End’s new rhythm guitarist – and got into a polyamorous relationship with Sinner’s rhythm guitarist, Trey Mills, and her bodyguard Ethan. Both are bisexual men, so you can expect some crazy hot M/M, M/M/F, and M/F/M scenes. But with fame and fortune comes a cost – Reagan can’t come out to the public with her unconventional relationship for fear of heavy backlash. But keeping secrets only hurts Trey, who wants the world to know and accept the love they share for each other, and Ethan, who is kept in the sidelines and can never show affection with them in public. Can their love last in secrecy or will the truth come out and change their relationship forever?

Outsider is another fabulous read from one of my favorite erotica authors. I honestly don’t know how she does it, but Olivia Cunning creates her menage scenes so perfectly sexy, even when they’re over-the-top. And obviously, since it’s Trey, you know they’re going to be over-the-top. I did feel like the book was a bit too long though – the story dragged out way longer than it could’ve been, especially regarding Reagan’s decision to come out or not. Her wishy-washiness kind of turned me off, so I was definitely more a fan of Ethan and Trey in this book. Nevertheless, I did enjoy this book overall – how could I not when the chemistry and sex were divine, as expected from the author?

I’m so looking forward to more Exodus End books. I loved seeing more of the rest of the bandmates and Toni – every scene with all of them always cracks me up. Steve, the drummer, is next, and though I’d prefer getting Dare (because, DARE!), I still can’t wait to get my hands on Steve’s book.

Release Day Review: The Goal by Elle Kennedy

The Goal by Elle Kennedy
Series: Off-Campus #4 (full reading order below)
Publication Date: September 26th 2016
Links: Ebook • PaperbackGoodreads
Source: I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review

She’s good at achieving her goals…

College senior Sabrina James has her whole future planned out: graduate from college, kick butt in law school, and land a high-paying job at a cutthroat firm. Her path to escaping her shameful past certainly doesn’t include a gorgeous hockey player who believes in love at first sight. One night of sizzling heat and surprising tenderness is all she’s willing to give John Tucker, but sometimes, one night is all it takes for your entire life to change.

But the game just got a whole lot more complicated

Tucker believes being a team player is as important as being the star. On the ice, he’s fine staying out of the spotlight, but when it comes to becoming a daddy at the age of twenty-two, he refuses to be a bench warmer. It doesn’t hurt that the soon-to-be mother of his child is beautiful, whip-smart, and keeps him on his toes. The problem is, Sabrina’s heart is locked up tight, and the fiery brunette is too stubborn to accept his help. If he wants a life with the woman of his dreams, he’ll have to convince her that some goals can only be made with an assist.

“I hate to tell you this, Sabrina. But you’ve made a big mistake.”
“What? Why?”
His fingers draw my thong tight, the fabric cutting into my swollen lips. “Because I’m going to ruin you for all future guys. I apologize in advance.”

I’ve been DYING to read this book after the epic reveal at the end of The Score. Tucker is going to be a father – and Sabrina is the mother! The anticipation for The Goal was killer, but the wait was totally worth it, because we get to experience the wonder that is John Tucker and his dirty, dirty mouth. Tucker might be my new favorite of the boys (sorry, Logan!) – he is literally the dream guy. Can you tell I loved him? He is what makes this book shine, and I promise, when you pick this book up, you will fall for him too.

Sabrina James has had her sights set on law school and getting a well-paying job right after since she was capable of dreaming. She won’t allow any deviation to her plans – though the occasional romp in the sack does well to relieve stress. And who better to do that with than hockey player John Tucker? Sabrina’s got a prejudice against hockey players (cough, Dean), and luckily (or not so luckily) when Sabrina rejects his advances, he knows a no means a no. But Tucker isn’t a man who can easily be forgotten or ignored.

I think you’re the most fascinating guy I’ve ever met.
I think you’re amazing in bed and I want to fuck you again.
I think if I was capable of having my heart broken, you’d have the power to break it.

Oh, Tucker. This glorious, incredible, beautiful man with his wicked mouth. He was not at all the kind of character I expected him to be, and this was the best kind of surprise. I adored how gentlemanly he was (he really does know what a no means) but that in no way affected how alpha he was. He’s completely confident in who he is, and when he’s got his sights on winning the woman of his dreams, he’ll go into that fight with his whole heart. Sabrina doesn’t make it easy, but Tucker is beyond patient (at least way more patient that I could ever be). He’s got a heart and soul of gold – I absolutely adored him!

You’re the only one for me.
My sun rises and sets on your smile.
My heart beats because yours does.

The Goal isn’t quite my favorite of the series, but it’s still another incredible installment to this fantastic new adult sports romance series. Fans of the series won’t want to miss this – The Goal has more of Elle Kennedy’s wonderful writing, witty humor, and cameos of all the characters in the previous books. AND, the best part about this book? Tucker’s filthy, glorious mouth! I honestly still can’t get over Tucker’s dirty talk – it was seriously divine. I had some problems with Sabrina, namely how long it took her to accept her love for Tucker and his love for her, but if you’re a patient reader, you should have no problem with his.

So yeah, The Goal is another win from Elle Kennedy. But I’m praying this won’t be the end of Off-Campus – I need more! So much more. Namely, Fitzy – I’m hoping we get his story eventually! Honestly, I’ll take anything as long as this isn’t the end of the series!

Lucian Marcello is aware of the expectations following him as the oldest son of one of North America’s most infamous Cosa Nostra Dons. Family in his world is more than blood and sharing a last name. It’s the honor, respect, business, and the life. Being a Capo is just a stepping stone until it’s time for him to take on the role of underboss but a chance meeting with her could be the one thing he’d risk it all for.

She is exactly what he didn’t know he was looking for.

Jordyn Reese spends her time trying to stay under the radar of a man who wouldn’t think twice about killing her. Unwillingly affiliated with a dangerous MC gang, her life is dominated by the men surrounding her and her future rests solely in how useful she can be for them. The last thing she needs is some Mafioso gaining her more unwanted attention from the club.

He is everything she should stay away from but can’t.

Notoriously violent when it comes to getting what he wants, Lucian will stop at nothing to make the target on Jordyn’s back disappear. But sometimes the worst threats are the ones you can’t see until it’s too late. The truth behind Lucian’s history is about to take center stage in more ways than one, and it’ll either save him or kill him.

This world leaves everyone a little filthy.

It’s been a while since I dived into mafia romance, but Lucian was a great way to get back into one of my favorite kinds of romances! It was an intense, surprisingly sweet, audiobook I enjoyed listening to. The narrator did a great job of getting into the voices, especially those of the mafia. I would definitely recommend this to audio fans who love mafia romances on the lighter side.

Lucian is the oldest adopted son of the Marcellos, his father being the most powerful and dangerous of the Cosa Nostra Dons. He’s being prepared to take over his father as the underboss – and everything would go smoothly until he comes across a beautiful woman on the run from a deadly MC gang. Lucian takes it upon himself to get involved and save Jordyn, thus getting his mafia family involved as well. Jordyn soon becomes something precious to him that he won’t let go of – so how far will he go to protect her?

Lucian is an alpha hero through and through – but he was surprisingly more sweet than I expected. He dotes on Jordyn, would do anything for her and to protect her. Jordyn has had a rough life and can protect herself, though she does make some idiotic decisions that undermine her intelligence. Their romance is sweet, though I never really felt the connection between them or the chemistry. There was no spark, but that in no way means I didn’t enjoy their story, because I did! The mafia aspect was what shined in this book – I’d definitely say to give this a try if you like mafia romances.

The narrator, John Thrust, did a great job of narrating this book, especially with his slight accent that made the mafia part feel more authentic. If the other books in the series become audiobooks, I would definitely hope he continues narrating!

Audiobook Review: Marrow by Tarryn Fisher

Marrow by Tarryn Fisher
Series: Standalone
Audiobook Publication Date: September 6th 2016
Length: 10 hours and 7 minutes
Narrated by: Audra Pagano
Links: Audible • Ebook • Paperback • Goodreads
Source: I received an audiobook in exchange for an honest review

In the Bone there is a house. In the house there is a girl. In the girl there is a darkness.

Margo is not like other girls. She lives in a derelict neighborhood called the Bone, in a cursed house, with her cursed mother, who hasn’t spoken to her in over two years. She lives her days feeling invisible. It’s not until she develops a friendship with her wheelchair-bound neighbor, Judah Grant, that things begin to change.

When a neighborhood girl, seven-year-old Neveah Anthony, goes missing, Judah sets out to help Margo uncover what happened to her. What Margo finds changes her, and with a new perspective on life she’s determined to find evil and punish it – targeting rapists and child molesters one by one. But hunting evil is dangerous, and Margo risks losing everything, including her own soul.

I honestly don’t know what to make of Marrow. This was my first Tarryn Fisher book and, well, to say it’s a little weird would be an understatement. It’s dark, twisty, disturbing – Marrow is not for the faint of heart. But if you’re ready to dive into a psychological thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat, this audiobook is for you. And if you’re a fan of Tarryn Fisher’s, I’m sure you’re used to her disturbing stories, so Marrow probably won’t be a disappointment!

Margo has lived her whole life in the Bone. The Bone is where the poor, the addicts, the hopeless reside. Margo herself is one of the hopeless, waiting for her mother to acknowledge her and knowing she never will. But one day Margo strikes a conversation with her handicapped neighbor, Judah, and when they start to form a relationship, things start to look up for her… until a seven-year-old girl goes missing, and Margo is determined to find out the culprit. And when she does, let’s just say Margo has her own form of justice. She becomes a vigilante, dealing out justice against those who deserve it… or do they?

The fascinating thing about Marrow is that sometime during the second half of the story, you don’t really know what is reality and what is not. Things are kind of all over the place and you’re left feeling pretty confused. I’m still not sure what to make of the story, though I do applaud the author for this wild trip of a thriller. I didn’t LOVE the story, but it was intriguing enough to keep me listening and wanting to know more. The narrator has an awkward, young adult feel to her, which fit Margo’s voice perfectly. At first I wasn’t a fan of the narration, but as I listened on and got to know the heroine better, I realized it was a perfect match. So audiobook-wise, it was a great listen, but the story just wasn’t exactly for me.
