The New York Times bestselling author of the On Dublin Street series returns to Hartwell, Delaware—the perfect place to get away from it all, and find what you never knew you needed….

Bailey Hartwell has many reasons to feel content—her successful business, a close circle of friends, and her steady boyfriend…even if their romance feels staid after ten years without a serious commitment. The only challenge in her life comes in the form of sexy businessman Vaughn Tremaine. She thinks the ex-New Yorker acts superior and that he considers her a small-town nobody. But when Bailey’s blindsided by a betrayal, she’s shocked to discover Vaughn is actually a decent guy.

Vaughn admires Bailey’s free spirit, independence, and loyalty. As his passion for her has grown, his antagonism toward her has only worsened. Every little thing Bailey does seduces him. But when Vaughn’s painful emotional past makes him walk away in fear he will hurt her, it opens an old wound in Bailey, and she uncharacteristically retreats.

Once Vaughn begins to realize he’s made the biggest mistake of his life, he has no choice but to fight like he’s never fought before to convince Bailey that the love they’ve found together only comes around once in a lifetime….

After being introduced to Bailey and Vaughn in The One Real Thing, I had such high hopes for their story – their banter, their chemistry, and the love-to-hate-you vibes had me READY for their book. TORT wasn’t my favorite Samantha Young book, so I was still hesitant to see how she would continue this small-town romance series, but she really stepped up her game in Every Little Thing. This was the book that I had been waiting for when she announced her new series, and I have to say that I’m completely in love with Hartwell and its inhabitants now. If you love close-knit towns, slow burns, and enemies to lovers in your romances, you definitely want to give Every Little Thing a try!

The man I thought I might have been waiting for my whole life.
All this time he’d been standing right in front of me, wearing a suit and a sexy-ass smirk.

After her boyfriend of ten years cheats on her, Bailey is left floundering, unsure of what to do as a thirty-four year old single woman. She had dreams of being married, having the husband and kids, but all of that is up in the air now. But she finds the strength in herself to recognize that she’s an incredible, sexy, independent woman who owns the town inn, has great friends, and is capable of winning any man she wants. But the only man she does want these days is a man she doesn’t even like – Vaughn Tremaine, a rich businessman who breezed into town a few years ago and seems to have made Hartwell his home. Bailey and Vaughn got off on the wrong start, and their relationship has only nosedived from their. They can’t seem to see each other without insulting each other – but when Vaughn ends up saving Bailey one night, she decides to seduce the gorgeous man to see what’s really underneath his cold exterior.

He loved Bailey Hartwell, and it was time to decide whether he could push past his own fears and take what he wanted, or finally let go.

To say Vaughn has issues would be an understatement. He’s a commitment-phobe, and as much as he wants Bailey, as much as he LOVES her, he can’t give her what she wants – the happy family – because he knows he’ll just hurt her in the end. It takes him a while to realize that Bailey Hartwell just might be the best thing that ever happened to him, and it’ll take him a hell of a fight to win her heart. But Vaughn is nothing if determined to win the woman he was meant for.

I adored Every Little Thing SO much! The small-town vibes were absolutely perfect here – Samantha Young did an incredible job of bringing Hartwell to life. Bailey and Vaughn had the most delicious enemies-to-lovers romance – they love to hate and hate to love each other. There’s a little angst, some jealousy, a mountain of chemistry that can’t be ignored, and underneath it all, a love that was slow to grow but once it did, it grew to epic proportions. Every Little Thing was a lovely read. I’m so invested in the story and characters now, and I’m hoping there will be so many more books in the series!

Audiobook Review: Badd Motherf*cker by Jasinda Wilder

Badd Motherf*cker by Jasinda Wilder
Series: Badd Brothers #1 (full reading order below)

Length: 8 hours and 7 minutes
Narrated by: Summer Roberts & Tyler Dunn

Your wedding day is supposed to be the happiest day of your life, right? That’s what they say, at least. I went into that day hoping I’d get the happiest day of my life. What I got? The worst. I mean, you really can’t get any worse of a day without someone actually dying. So…I may have gotten just a little drunk, and maybe just a tad impetuous…and landed myself in a dive bar somewhere in Alaska, alone, still in my wedding dress, half wasted and heartbroken.

Eight brothers, one bar. Sounds like the beginning to a bad joke, yeah? I kinda think so. Wanna hear another joke? A girl walks into a bar, soaking wet and wearing a wedding dress. I knew I shouldn’t have touched her. She was hammered, for one thing, and heartbroken for another. I’ve chased enough tail to know better. That kinda thing only leads to clinginess, and a clingy female is the last thing on this earth I need. I got a bar needs running and only me to run it – at least until my seven wayward brothers decide to show their asses up…. Then this chick walks in, fine as hell, wearing a soaked wedding dress that leaves little enough to the imagination – and I’ve got a hell of an imagination. I knew I shouldn’t have touched her. Not so much as a finger, not even innocently. But I did.

This was such a fun listen! It was hot, humorous, entertaining, a little heart-wrenching, and overall a breeze to listen to. I really enjoyed Summer Roberts and Tyler Dunn’s narrations – if they’re the narrators for the rest of the series, I definitely wouldn’t mind! They did a fantastic job at voicing Dru and Sebastian. If you’re looking for a fun and hot romance to listen to, look no further than Badd Motherf*cker!

On the day of her wedding, Dru catches her groom with one of her bridesmaids. Angry and heartbroken, Dru takes the first plane out she can find – which turns out to be going to Alaska, of all places. Then, stuck in Alaska, she comes across a bar and its owner Sebastian Badd, the oldest of eight(!) brothers. He’s crazy sexy and the chemistry between them is intense, but is Dru ready to throw caution to the wind and go all in with him so soon after her disastrous almost-wedding?

Sebastian has been taking care of his brothers for years, and after the death of their father, he’s now also trying to take care of the family bar and struggling to keep it afloat. Dru enters his life at the best and worst time, but he recognizes that she’s a once-in-a-lifetime girl and goes after her. It’s a bit of a rocky start, but once Sebastian is determined to win Dru over, there’s nothing that can stop him.

It was so entertaining listening to Dru and Sebastian’s chemistry-filled banter. They’re both so tough and strong, but only with each other do they allow themselves to be vulnerable. Their romance is fast and hot, but not without its complications in the form of a broken wedding. The story also sets up the next Badd Brothers book, who will be about Zane. I’m hoping it will be out in audio soon because Badd Motherf*cker was a blast to listen to!

Release Day Review: Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs

Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs
Series: Mercy Thompson #10 (full reading order below)
Publication Date: March 7th 2017
Links: EbookHardcover • Audible • Goodreads
Source: I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

In the #1 New York Times bestselling Mercy Thompson novels, the coyote shapeshifter has found her voice in the werewolf pack. But when Mercy’s bond with the pack—and her mate—is broken, she’ll learn what it truly means to be alone…

Attacked and abducted in her home territory, Mercy finds herself in the clutches of the most powerful vampire in the world, taken as a weapon to use against alpha werewolf Adam and the ruler of the Tri-Cities vampires. In coyote form, Mercy escapes—only to find herself without money, without clothing, and alone in the heart of Europe…

Unable to contact Adam and the rest of the pack, Mercy has allies to find and enemies to fight, and she needs to figure out which is which. Ancient powers stir, and Mercy must be her agile best to avoid causing a war between vampires and werewolves, and between werewolves and werewolves. And in the heart of the ancient city of Prague, old ghosts rise…

Y’all, the Mercy Thompson series is one of my favorite urban fantasy series of all time. Although I have to admit that the Alpha & Omega series is my top fav from Patricia Briggs, there’s nothing like delving back into Mercy and Adam’s story. They were the first I fell in love with from this author, so they’ll always hold a special place in my heart. There’s something different about Silence Fallen compared to the previous books in the series though, and it’s a change I loved – we get more of Adam’s POV! But everything else about this latest installment is classic Mercy Thompson – funny, action-packed, heartwarming, and just plain awesome. This was everything I expected and more from Patricia Briggs!

I tried to reach out to Adam through our mate bond and touched … emptiness. Silence had fallen between us, not the electric, expectant kind. This silence was the emptiness that falls in the dead of night in the middle of a Montana when the world is encased in snow and icy cold, a silence that engulfed my soul and left me alone.

On her way to the market, Mercy gets kidnapped right from underneath her and her pack’s nose. Usually, when this happens (this has happened a couple times – it’s Mercy), she’s able to contact Adam through their mate bond. But this time, outside magic is preventing her from contacting her husband for help. Mercy is used to trouble though, and manages to escape her prison from Europe’s most powerful vampire… only to find out she’s been taken to Italy, and runs for her life.

Adam and his pack are racing against time to catch up to Mercy. With the help of vampires Stefan and Marsilia, his packmate Honey, the goblin king, a witch, and one Matt Smith (not The Doctor), they’re on their way to Europe and Mercy. But they know she’s tough and a survivor, so she’ll be able to stay alive while Adam deals with paranormal politics with Bonarata. Nearly half the book is in Adam’s POV, which made me so happy. I loved getting inside his head and seeing how he deals with the pack and outsiders. And it was lovely to see how much Adam loves and adores his wife and would do anything to protect her. I really hope Patricia Briggs gives us more of Adam’s POV in future books!

“My love,” he said, his voice intent. “You are welcome to all that I am, all that I have. I would destroy the planet for you. I was even diplomatic for you, which was a bigger sacrifice.”

In this novel, we also get to learn more about Mercy’s Coyote heritage, specifically about ghosts. If you thought we knew all there was to know about Mercy, you’d be wrong. She continuously surprises us with the new strengths and powers she possesses. She’s one of my all-time favorite heroines ever – I could read the series for her forever!

If you love urban fantasy and haven’t experienced this series yet, what are you waiting for!? It’s such an incredible, unique world Patricia Briggs has created. The characters are beloved and so entertaining to read about. I seriously enjoyed reading Silence Fallen and can’t wait for the next installment!

Audiobook Review: Lacybourne Manor by Kristen Ashley

Lacybourne Manor by Kristen Ashley
Series: Ghosts and Reincarnation #3 (full reading order below)
Audiobook Publication Date: January 24th 2017
Length: 16 hours and 52 minutes
Narrated by: Abby Craden
Links: Audible • Ebook • Paperback • Goodreads
Source: I received an audiobook in exchange for an honest review

In 1522, the very night they were wed, Royce Morgan and his new bride, Beatrice Godwin, were murdered on their way home to Lacybourne Manor. After the cruel deed was done, a local witch came across their bodies, witnessing firsthand the tragedy of star-crossed lovers. Vowing that Royce and Beatrice would someday uncross those stars, using magic mixed with murder as well as true love, she linked their spirits together with hers (because someone had to protect them) forever…or until their reincarnated souls find happily ever after.

Now arrogant, forbidding Colin Morgan lives at Lacybourne, knowing, from lore (as well as the portraits of Royce and Beatrice that hang in Lacybourne’s hall and the small fact that he looks exactly like Royce Morgan), that he is the reincarnated soul of his ancestor. One stormy night, flighty, free-spirited, scarily kind-hearted Sibyl Godwin comes to Lacybourne and it doesn’t escape Colin’s notice that Sibyl is the spitting image of Beatrice. However murder, magic, a warrior’s heart beating in a modern man’s chest, a woman bent on doing good deeds even if they get her into loads of trouble, a good witch whose family has vowed throughout the centuries to protect true love, distrust, and revenge make a volatile cocktail.

This means the path to happily ever after is paved with tranquilizer darts, pensioners on a rampage, Sibyl’s bad morning moods, heartbreaking misunderstandings, and all kinds of magic, good and bad.

Lacybourne Manor just might be my favorite Ghosts and Reincarnation audiobook I’ve listened to so far! It was the kind of story that I was waiting to get from KA that I didn’t from the last two books. They were good, but definitely didn’t feel up to KA par, but Lacybourne Manor wowed me in the best way possible! I adored listening to Colin and Sibyl’s story – it’s a true reincarnation romance, so if you’re interested in that sort of thing, I highly recommend giving this a listen!!

Hundreds of years ago, newlyweds Royce and Beatrice were murdered on their wedding night due to a spell that was meant to keep the lovers apart. When a witch came across their bodies, she cast a spell and set in motion the reincarnation of the two star-crossed lovers. In present day, Royce and Beatrice are now Colin and Sibyl. Colin has always been told stories of him being fated to find and love the reincarnated Beatrice, but by the time she arrives to Lacybourne Manor in the form of Sibyl, Colin has been too jaded and broken to believe in fate or love. He treats Sibyl poorly, not believing that they’re meant to be together.

Sibyl has also had dreams of finding her one true love, the man of her dreams, and has long since given up finding him… until she meets Colin. But the cold, callous jerk surely can’t be her fated soulmate, right? Colin and Sibyl have a rocky start, but after getting to know Colin deeper, she finds that he’s not as terrible as she first thought. Slowly they warm up to each other – but is their newfound love enough to break a centuries-long curse that threatens to tear them apart?

I loved listening to Lacybourne Manor. In the previous books in the series, I had a hard time paying attention to the narration for some reason, but it wasn’t the case with this audiobook, because I was HOOKED onto the story. Sibyl and Colin’s star-crossed romance was a heartfelt, emotional listen, and I enjoyed every bit of it. Abby Craden’s narration has definitely grown on me too. I really hope the rest of the Ghosts and Reincarnation series will come out in audio soon!

Audiobook Review: Sommersgate House by Kristen Ashley

Sommersgate House by Kristen Ashley
Series: Ghosts and Reincarnation #2 (full reading order below)
Audiobook Publication Date: January 24th 2017
Length: 14 hours and 32 minutes
Narrated by: Abby Craden
Links: Audible • EbookPaperback • Goodreads
Source: I received an audiobook in exchange for an honest review

Douglas Ashton is the cold and unfeeling owner of the gothic Victorian Mansion, Sommersgate House. Julia Fairfax is his stubborn American sister-in-law. After tragedy strikes, Douglas and Julia are forced to live together at Sommersgate and raise their newly orphaned nieces and nephew.

Douglas has no desire to raise his dead sister’s children nor does he want the distraction of the tempting Julia living under his roof. Julia is struggling with grief and trying to make a go in a new country without much help from impossibly handsome but even more impossibly remote Douglas. Not to mention, she has to deal with the active hostility of Douglas’s frosty, Attila-the-Hun-in-a-skirt mother, Monique.

Douglas decides the best way to give the children what they need, get his mother to behave and give himself what he wants is to marry Julia. When he tells her (yes, tells her) she will be his wife, Julia thinks Douglas is (probably) insane. And anyway, she’s decided if she ever has another husband (since the last one wasn’t so great), he was going to be short, balding, have a paunch and worship the ground she walks on (none of these characteristics define Douglas in the slightest).

One more thing, Sommersgate House is haunted by the ghosts of the man who built the house and the woman who was the love of his life. They both died mysteriously at Sommersgate months after it was finished. When they did, a curse settled on the house making it seem strangely alive. And the only way for the beautiful but frightening house to rid itself of this curse is for its owner to find true love.

It’s so easy for me to dive in to a KA audiobook marathon, because I love long audiobooks and KA always gives me a story worth listening to. The Ghosts and Reincarnation series might not be my favorite of hers, but I’m starting to warm up to it more and more, especially since I’m getting used to the narrator. Sommersgate House is the second standalone in the series, and it’s another long romance mixed in with a subtle ghost story. If you enjoyed the first book, Penmort Castle, you’ll most likely enjoy this one too! It’s got a similar vibe, but there’s a bonus – adorable children are involved!

When Julia Fairfax’s brother and Douglas Ashton’s sister die in a terrible accident, their children are left to Julia and Douglas’ care. Douglas, who is cold and unfeeling, doesn’t want to deal with the emotional upheaval that taking in his niece and nephew will bring. Julia welcomes them with open arms, wanting to fulfill her brother and his wife’s dying wish, so she makes the trip across the pond to stay at Sommersgate House. Douglas and Julie couldn’t be more opposite, but Douglas comes up with the perfect idea to handle the house, the children, and even his mother – he’s going to marry Julia.

Even though she’s wildly attracted to Douglas, she rejects that ridiculous idea. She was burned once in her previous marriage and has no plans for that to happen again. But when Julia and Douglas grow closer together as they pick up the broken pieces of their family, creating a new family of their own, emotions begin to grow on both sides. Can Julie learn to believe in love and marriage again, and can Douglas let her and the children into his heart?

I have to say that the children were my favorite part about this audiobook. They are so adorable, and Abby Craden gave them such unique voices. They added so much warmth and heart to the story – I loved them! Douglas and Julia took me a while to warm up to, but in the end I enjoyed the way their romance played out. It’s another classic KA love story with an alpha male and tough but endearing heroine. I’d highly recommend this if you loved the first Ghosts and Reincarnation story!
