The up-and-coming matchmaking agency Kinnections is the hottest thing to hit Verily, New York—just like Kennedy Ashe, social director for the service she owns with her two best girlfriends. A coach, consultant, and cheerleader rolled into one super-sizzling package, Kennedy creates dream dates, encourages singles to shine, and never refuses a challenge—not even Nate Ellison Raymond Dunkle, rocket scientist, nerd extraordinaire, and Kennedy’s newest client.

Kennedy vows to work her magic and transform this hot mess in a lab coat with a disastrous relationship track record into the most wanted man on the Verily dating scene. If only she could turn the wand on herself . . .

Though she radiates confidence and sex appeal, Kennedy harbors deep-seated insecurities from a tormented past and lifelong struggle with weight issues. When she realizes she and Nate are cut from the same cloth and might be perfect together, can Kennedy learn to let her heart lead the way? Or will her fears sentence her to the sidelines as Nate finds love—with someone else?

SEXY DORKY MEN ARE THE BEST!!!!!

Ahem. Okay.

So I became a huge fan of Jennifer Probst’s recently after reading Searching for Someday (my review here!), and I had high expectations for Searching for Perfect, and Jennifer Probst delivers!! Spectacularly, if I do say so myself. I’d fallen in love with the premise of the Searching For series–the heroines are the founders of Kinnections, a matchmaking agency, and I was so, so excited for Kennedy to have her story told. She’s the one who gets the clients to socialize, to get them more comfortable with themselves, and I fell in love with her from the get-go. She’s awesome, hilarious, feisty, and all-around just the kind of person you could easily be BFFs with.

But Kennedy she doesn’t to long-term, steady relationships.

Until…

Enter Ned. Ned, who is a rocket scientist–sorry, an aerospace engineer, and hires Kinnections to find a wife. He’s really… really nerdy. Like, seriously nerdy. He has no fashion sense, he has a unibrow(!), he’s terrible at social interactions, he LOVES golf, and he’s so unprepared to interact with the opposite sex, despite the numerous Cosmo magazines he’s read.

“What’s your full name?”
“Nathan Ellison Raymond Dunkle.”
Fascinating. This just kept getting better and better. “You got stuck with a real doozy, Ned.”
His face remained deadly serious. “I know. If my mother was still around we’d sit down and have a conversation regarding her original intentions.”
“You know if you put the R in, you come up with NERD.”

Ned is a new, big challenge for Kennedy. She’s got to whip him in shape, figuratively and literally, but the first thing to go is the name. So… Nate it is. And oh my gosh, here ensues the wonderfully hilarious transformation of Nate (My Fair Lady, anyone?), from dorky nerd to dorky hottie extraordinaire.

It’s not only the looks that have changed for Nate though. Kennedy works on his social interactions, giving him practice with the opposite sex to prepare him for meeting his potential wife. It’s here that Kennedy and Nate form a deeper connection, one that Kennedy is terrified of. But Nate is relentless in his pursuit of Kennedy, despite the numerous women she throws at him.

“Ken?”
“Huh?”
“I want to kiss you.”
“Don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“Agreed.” He lowered his head so his breath struck her mouth. “Don’t care.”

Honestly, Nate had me giggling and smiling like a little girl. He has truly become one sexy, enticing man, and Kennedy can’t resist him. There’s just something about his dorkiness that makes him so appealing. He’s sweet and adorable, yet seductive, and who even knew he could be as charming as he is? And he seriously charms Kennedy (and me… *sigh*) with his humor, wit, determination, and intelligence. He’s such a unique character, and I slowly fell in love with Nate.

But Kennedy’s painful past rears its head again and again, driving a wedge between the two of them and prevent a relationship that’s meant to be from forming.

“This isn’t about me, baby. It’s about you. I can chase you forever, promise you the world, but until you take the leap with me, I can’t win. I don’t just love your body. I love your incredible mind, and your sweet soul, and you inner strength. I love the life you built for yourself with your friends and your career. I love every part of you–good and bad–dark and light–and I want to share it all. But you have to let me in.”

Kennedy and Nate are so freaking perfect together, but Kennedy is stubborn. She has an internal battle to face, and I was so impressed with her character. She discovers so much about herself because of Nate and his never-ending support. I loved seeing the two interact with each other, fall in love with each other. There’s the perfect amount of sweet, charming romance to go with the hot, sexy romance, and let me tell you, Nate is a pure sex god in bed. I was blushing so much! *fans self* Nate sure as hell knows what he’s doing in bed.

Searching for Perfect is such a heartwarming story (I awwed so many times!). We have two incredible, headstrong characters falling in love, and my heart burst and broke for them over and over. I loved reading Searching for Perfect–it’s fun, sexy, funny, and oh so sweet. The story and the characters are unique, and I was hooked from the very beginning.

Release Day Review: Twisted by Emma Chase

Twisted by Emma Chase

Twisted by Emma Chase
Series: Tangled #2 (full reading order below)
Publication Date: March 25th 2014
Links: Ebook • Paperback • AudibleGoodreads
Source: I received an ARC from the publisher (Gallery Books) in exchange for an honest review

Falling in love is easy. Staying in love is hard. In this heart-pounding follow-up to Tangled by New York Times bestseller Emma Chase, Kate reveals that there is trouble in paradise, when unexpected circumstances force her and Drew to “renegotiate” their relationship.

There are two kinds of people in the world. The ones who look first, and the ones who leap. I’ve always been more of a looker. Cautious. A planner. That changed after I met Drew Evans. He was so persistent. So sure of himself—and of me.

But not all love stories end happily ever after. Did you think Drew and I were going to ride off into the sunset? Join the club. Now I have to make a choice; the most important of my life. Drew already made hisin fact, he tried to decide for the both of us. But you know that’s just not my style. So I came back to Greenville, Ohio, alone. Well, sort of alone…

What I’ve come to realize is that old habits die hard, and sometimes you have to go back to where you began before you can move ahead.

I loved love looooved Tangled, so of course I was ecstatic to read more of Drew and Kate! And I was excited that their second book would be in Kate’s POV (even though I really missed Drew’s POV). But even though I didn’t love Twisted as much as I loved Tangled, Twisted was still a fun, angsty read that fans of Tangled would enjoy. Kate is just as hilarious as Drew, and I loved reading from her POV!

Kate and Drew have been together for two years. They are blissfully in love… or are they?

Did you think Drew and I were going to ride off into the sunset? Live happily ever after? Join the club. Apparently happily ever after only lasts two years.

Cue the gasps!! Imagine my shock and horror when my beloved couple ever fall apart. They were practically MADE for each other! But that’s what happens when misunderstandings and miscommunication occurs in a relationship. Both parties get hurt, and in this case, Drew and Kate… break up. But wait! Drew and Kate fans, don’t despair. Not all hope is lost! I don’t want to spoil the reason for their breakup, but if you’re scared about going into this book, don’t be. I had complete confidence in Emma Chase that she wouldn’t let me down about her characters, and I was right.

When Drew and Kate break up, Kate is understandably devastated. She packs up and goes home, back to Greenville, Ohio. There, she has the comfort of her family and best friend, but even with them, nothing can replace Drew. She loves him, but he hurt her terribly. I wanted to hug her–but mostly I wanted to smack Kate and Drew so badly! Their breakup could’ve been avoided so easily, but one freaking miscommunication leads to so much pain for the both of them.

Twisted has a completely different feel than Tangled–don’t get me wrong, there’s still the laugh-out-loud humor Emma Chase is so great at, but that’s mostly thanks to Dee, Kate’s best friend, and Billy, Dee’s cousin and Kate’s ex-boyfriend, and not thanks to Drew. I was a little disappointed that Drew is absent from a large part of the story, but I was willing to see where Emma Chase would take the story, so I sucked it up and kept reading. And I’m glad I did.

Emma Chase takes us on a completely different direction than I expected after reading Tangled. I wouldn’t say I wholeheartedly loved the different direction, but by the end, I was proud of how Drew and Kate ended up handling things. This book was slightly predictable, but I’m totally willing to forgive that because of the Kate’s fabulous narrative and Dee and Billy’s hilarious banter. Oh, and Drew’s sweet words…

“I love you, Kate. Everything that’s good in my life, anything that really matters, is only there because of you. If we hadn’t met? I’d be fucking miserable–and probably too clueless to even realize it.”

So for fans of Tangled, Twisted might not live up to the first book, but it’s still well worth the read. It’ll make you ache–both from laughing so much and from Kate and Drew’s heartbreaking breakup.

The third sexy novel in USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton’s playful and erotic Redhead series continues the sizzling romance between actress Grace Sheridan and Hollywood’s hottest leading man Jack Hamilton.

Grace has landed the lead in a new TV series—but when the director asks her to lose fifteen pounds, she goes public with her weight struggles and suddenly develops a huge fan club who support her right to have curves. But between that and the public’s continuing fascination with her “are they or aren’t they” relationship with Jack, Grace begins to wonder if anyone’s really interested in her because of her upcoming TV series, or if it’s all speculation about the size of her ass and her bedroom partner.

Meanwhile, Jack is voted the Sexiest Man Alive and becomes a little too enamored with the party-hard lifestyle. Grace vows to give him the space he needs to find himself, but then he begins to spiral down from lovable Brit to Hollywood brat. People are talking, but are Jack and Grace? Her career is on the rise, and his continues into the stratosphere, but will she be able to catch him if he falls? Will they ever be able to just be a couple who can hold hands when they walk down the street?

review

As frustrating as The Redhead Plays Her Hand was to read, I honestly enjoyed Grace and Jack’s final book. Grace and Jack have been through so much in the previous two books, but they’re not quite done yet. In this third and final book in the Redhead series, Alice Clayton amps up the drama, angst, and heartbreak, but everything else you can expect from a Redhead book–laugh-out-loud humor, hot, steamy sex, and the sweetest love between Gracie and Jack–is still there.

“I love you.”
“I love you more.”
“Not bloody likely.”

Grace has finally hit it big in show-business, but in order to have the job, she’s got to drop some pounds. She feels comfortable in her body already–Jack is a big help in this. He worships her body, loves her body, and is everything you can expect from a perfect (younger) boyfriend. She has no problem with having to lose weight, as it’s part of the job, but the public is harsh against her. With Jack becoming more and more famous, Grace is being critically scrutinized by fans, paparazzi, and gossip magazines.

Pick your path. You don’t get to decide how the public reacts. You only get to decide how you react.
True, very true.
Victim? Warrior? Pick. Your. Path.

The best part that I love about Grace is how she deals with tough situations. In TRPHH, Grace has to deal with harsh criticism about her weight. It’s Hollywood, so everyone who isn’t stick-thin is considered overweight, even if they are perfectly healthy, and this includes Grace. She lets the criticism bring her down a bit before she stands up for herself, and starts to make a change in Hollywood. I had so much admiration for this girl while I was reading, because she uses her growing fame to reach out to all women to show them that no matter what size they are, they’re beautiful.

And in that moment, I realized how out of control everything had become. Big, small, curvy, or bony, beauty was beauty. I was healthy. I was exactly the size I was supposed to be, and that was it.

Meanwhile, Grace also has to deal with Jack being… not so lovable anymore. Jack was perfect in the first two books of the series, and now, Jack’s not so perfect anymore. He’s the main reason why I couldn’t enjoy the book as much as I wanted to. The fame has finally gotten to Jack’s head, and it doesn’t help that he’s making friends with Adam, a fellow actor and known as Hollywood’s party boy. Adam influences Jack to party and drink more, but Adam can’t take all the blame. Jack deals with the fame, as well as the unsavory parts that come with it–the constant paparazzi, no privacy, the criticisms on his girlfriend–in the worst way possible. He pulls away from everyone, including Grace, and spirals down until he’s a mess.

But even with Jack’s hard partying, we can always feel the love Jack and Grace have for each other. These two are it for each other, and this is just another bump in the road for them before they can reach their happily ever after. They’ll work through anything and everything for each other.

In this moment, in this car, on this stretch of highway, we were a couple in love. We were not an older woman and a younger man, Jack wasn’t the Sexiest Man Alive, but he was the sexiest man in my world. I wasn’t an up-and-coming actress who’d been asked about the size of her boyfriend’s dick the night before by a total stranger, I was a girl in a convertible in my pajamas, holding hands with the man I was in love with.

It was difficult to read this book and not get frustrated with Jack, but I still loved the sweet ending to this series. I loved how Alice Clayton blended in the humor and sweetness with the more serious parts of the book. Can’t say I LOVED this book, but Grace and Jack’s story wraps up perfectly.

about the author

Alice ClaytonAlice Clayton is a novelist with an unholy love for her KitchenAid mixer. Making her home in St Louis, she enjoys gardening but not weeding, baking but not cleaning up afterwards, and is trying desperately to get her long time boyfriend to make her an honest woman. Hi sweetie!!

After working for years in the cosmetics industry as a makeup artist, esthetician, and national educator for a major cosmetics company, Alice picked up a pen (read laptop) for the first time at 33 to begin a new career, writer. Combining her love of storytelling with a sense of silly, she was shocked and awed to be nominated for a Goodreads Author award in 2010 for her debut novels, The Redhead Series.

Alice has penned three novels, The Unidentified Redhead,The Redhead Revealed, and coming soon in November 2012, Wallbanger. She thinks you should purchase them immediately. She’s not kidding, not even a little bit. Everyone needs some comedic erotica in their lives. She is hard at work on the third book in The Redhead Series, set to release in Spring of 2013, continuing the saucy and sexual escapades of everyone’s favorite couple, Jack and Grace.

Additionally, Alice loves spending time with her besties on Not Your Mother’s Podcast, make sure you check them out at notyourmotherspodcast.com or over on iTunes. 3 women rushing towards their forties still acting like teenagers. A saucy little mix of sex, love, relationships, pop cultural, celebrity gossip and All Things Jake Ryan.

Alice enjoys pickles, Bloody Mary’s, 8 hours of sleep, and a good pounding.

Finally Alice would also like all her readers and listeners to help her convince Mt. Alice that the only other thing that would make her truly happy is finally bringing home a Bernese Mountain Dog. She is totally serious. And done talking about herself in the third person…

Publication Date: October 29th 2013

A bombshell bookworm. A chronic Casanova. And a lesson in chemistry too scandalous for school.

When Hanna Bergstrom receives a lecture from her overprotective brother about neglecting her social life and burying herself in grad school, she’s determined to tackle his implied assignment: get out, make friends, start dating. And who better to turn her into the sultry siren every man wants than her brother’s gorgeous best friend, Will Sumner, venture capitalist and unapologetic playboy?

Will takes risks for a living, but he’s skeptical about this challenge of Hanna’s…until the wild night his innocently seductive pupil tempts him into bed- and teaches him a thing or two about being with a woman he can’t forget. Now that Hanna’s discovered the power of her own sex appeal, it’s up to Will to prove he’s the only man she’ll ever need.

AH!! Do you know how much I love this book? Yeah, well, I love it A LOT. BUNCHES. I literally can’t describe how much I loved reading Beautiful Player. And Will. Ohmygoodness, sah-woon! I fell so freaking hard for Will in Beautiful Player. I mean, I was totally in love with Will already after reading Beautiful Stranger (MAX!! He’s still my favorite, although Will is a close second) and I just knew I wouldn’t be disappointed. I was finally going to be able to read Will’s book, and oh lord, I absolutely, whole-heartedly LOVED it! I loved Hanna and Will and their story.

The Christina Lauren duo are goddesses at writing in dual POV. I honestly loved reading from both Will and Hanna’s POVs. Usually I enjoy reading one person’s POV more over the other, but in this case, both POVs are flawless. And another thing I loved about Beautiful Player (out of the hundreds of other things I also loved)? This is the best older brother’s best friend/best friend’s younger sister book I’ve ever read. I always love reading books with that trope, because of how the characters usually have history between them, and there’s a little forbidden-ness in that kind of relationship. And Hanna and Will totally worked it. The sexual tension between them is amped up off the charts, but the best thing about them is that they never lose their strong sense of friendship and camaraderie. They can have fun and enjoy each other’s company doing anything or nothing at all.

Beautiful Player is easily the funniest of the main three novels. I don’t know how many times I laughed and giggled and grinned, but it was a lot. Will and Hanna are PERFECTION. Not only do they have incredible chemistry together, they are so damn hilarious together. They have the best conversations together, and they’re just so witty and funny!

“See, the problem with boobs is if you have big ones, you can never look thin. You get these burns on your shoulders from bra straps, and your back hurts. And unless you’re using them for their intended purpose, they’re always in the way.”
“In the way of what? My hands? My face? Don’t you blaspheme in here.” He looked up to the sky. “She didn’t mean it, Lord. Promise.”
Ignoring him, I said, “That’s why I had a reduction when I was twenty-one,” which is when his expression morphed into one of horror.

I was laughing my ass off throughout the entire book. Gah, it was just too good!

Will is a player. Maybe not as much as he was in his younger years, but even now at 31, he doesn’t do relationships. He has a set schedule of when to hook up with women, but everything changes once Hanna comes back into his life. Hanna makes him reevaluate his life, and who and what he wants in his life.

“Hanna. I don’t know if I’ve ever wanted something more than I want you. I really don’t think I have,” I said. “I think about just kissing you, for fucking hours. Do you know that kind of kissing? Where it’s enough for so long you don’t even think of doing anything else?”

Hanna’s always had a crush on Will (who wouldn’t?), and her brother makes her call Will up to broaden her nonexistent social life. It’s been a while since Hanna has seen Will, but once she does again, all her old feelings for him rush back in. But she knows who Will is, what kind of man he is, and she won’t allow herself to fall in love with a player because she knows if she does, he’ll break her heart.

One of the best parts of Beautiful Player is how Will recognizes he’s falling in love. It’s rare when I read a book and the guy will openly and freely admit to himself that he’s in love. And oh god, this just made me fall for Will all over again. He’s sweet, sexy, charming, funny, and just plain amazing. There’s nothing I don’t love about Will. N o t h i n g.

“She ran her hands up my chest and cupped my neck, whispering, “Hey.”
That look, that tenderness in her eyes, made me realize for the first time what was happening to me: I was falling in love.
“Hey,” I rasped, bending to kiss her.

When Hanna finally asks Will to teach her the ways of sex, everything becomes complicated. Hanna keeps thinking Will won’t change his player ways, so she acts all nonchalant about their sexual relationship. And Will is so in love with Hanna that he’ll take whatever he can get from her. The angst! Loved it. Their story hooked me in and I just couldn’t put the book down for a second. I was desperate for Hanna and Will to get their HEA, and Christina Lauren does such an incredible job of bringing their story to life.

It wasn’t only just about knowing her for so many years. It was wanting to know her, like this, for so many more.

You absolutely must read this book. You’ll fall in love with Will, you’ll laugh so hard your sides hurt, and your heart will hurt so much for Hanna and Will. The journey towards their HEA isn’t easy, but I had the best time reading it.

Underground fighter Remington Tate is a mystery, even to himself. His mind is dark and light, complex and enlightening. At times his actions and moods are carefully measured, and at others, they spin out of control.

Through it all, there’s been one constant: wanting, needing, loving, and protecting Brooke Dumas. This is his story; from the first moment he laid eyes on her and knew, without a doubt, she would be the realest thing he’s ever had to fight for.

*There will be SPOILERS for books 1 & 2!*

AH! Do you know how much I love Remy? Because I adore him. I fell in love with him in REAL, and even more so in MINE. And now we have a book in his own POV, and it is the perfect conclusion to Remy and Brooke’s wonderful love story.

REMY begins right after the end of book 2, and Brooke and Remy are getting married! It’s a beautiful time for them, and Remy is reminiscing about the time when he first meets Brooke. He has flashbacks of all the memories he made with Brooke from the first time he saw her at the ring and chased after her, up until she gave birth to their beautiful baby boy.

I’ve fought all my life to stay sane. To keep focused, driven, and centered. But tonight, I fight to show one woman my worth.

I loved being inside Remy’s head. We see upfront the amount of love he has for his girl. His love is strong, passionate, and beautiful, just like he is. He’s also dealing with his bipolar disorder, and my heart went out to him. Because the previous books were in Brooke’s POV, we never truly get to see how Remy himself deals with his disorder. In REMY, it’s heartbreaking to read, but in the end, you know Remy will be alright, because he has the love of his Brooke and their son to keep him going.

Life can throw the curveballs at me, but not at her. I’ll catch them for her and I’ll throw them back. She’ll be untouchable to everything and everyone but me.

I don’t know how many times I swooned, but just know that it was a lot. Remy is raw and primal and so very sexy, and now he’s a father too, so that just adds to the sexiness. I loved going back to the beginning of Brooke and Remy’s story, and feeling again all the emotions I felt the first time I read REAL. Remy’s POV was perfect. Katy Evans does a fantastic job and her writing is as impeccable as ever.

“Every day you make me the luckiest man alive.”

If you’ve read REAL and MINE, you don’t want to miss Remy. It’s not just a recap of the first two books only in Remy’s POV, but also the continuation and ending of Brooke and Remy’s story. I highly recommend this series to any romance lover. It’s got fantastic writing, heartfelt emotions, and a sexy, alpha book boyfriend! Love this series so much, and I can’t wait for the next two books!
