Blog Tour + Author Interview, Review & Giveaway: Dirty Deeds by Megan Erickson

I’m so excited to be a part of the blog tour for Dirty Deeds by Megan Erickson! I have an interview with Megan on the blog today, as well as my review and a fantastic tour giveaway!

Author Interview: Megan Erickson

What was your favorite part about writing Dirty Deeds?

I loved writing the scenes where I got to have the whole crew together. I loved writing the girls’ night out and backyard barbecue scenes.

What made you decide on writing a hot British businessman as the hero for Alex?

You know, I wanted someone not like her in any way. I didn’t want her to fall for another mechanic. I wanted to get her out of her comfort zone so she could see what she had to offer.

What makes Alex and Spencer different from your previous main characters?

They are both really honest. I think I liked that the most. They were upfront with each other every step of the way.

Which book was your favorite to write in the Mechanics of Love series?

DIRTY TALK. Brent was a really easy character for me to write. I loved being in his head.

Will we be getting a story about Davis? Or Delilah? I love their characters!

I’m not ruling it out! And thank you, I love them too!

What are you currently working on?

Currently, I’m finishing up the fourth book in my Gamers series with Entangled Brazen. And I have a bunch of side projects I’m sorting out. I’m excited for 2016.

Alex Dawn is saying no to men. No to bad relationships, disappointments, and smooth-talkers. Focusing on her family and her job at Payton and Sons Automotive keeps her mind occupied and her heart content. She doesn’t really miss a man’s touch, until one night, one shows up with the body of a god and a voice from her dirtiest dreams.

L.M. Spencer is only in Tory, Maryland, to scope out the town as a possible site for one of his company’s hotels. The British businessman didn’t expect his car to break down or to find the hottest little American he’s ever seen holding a tire iron, piercing him with bright blue eyes.

They agree to one hot night, one dirty deed to burn out the chemistry between them. But from their first kiss, Alex can’t stop saying yes to this man. And when Spencer’s company threatens everything she cares about, they must make the choice to stand together or apart.

Megan Erickson knows how to write contemporary romance! The Mechanics of Love series is the first I’ve read by her, and it won’t be the last. I’ve enjoyed each one of the books in the series immensely – Dirty Talk is still my favorite, but Dirty Deeds, the third and latest book, is one that definitely lived up to my expectations. It’s a book full of heart and humor, with touching characters that can’t help but endear themselves to your heart.

I’d been so excited about Alex’s story since Dirty Talk – as a female mechanic who’s sworn off men, she’s a memorable character. Her last relationship almost ruined her family, so when she and her sister and niece got away from her abusive ex, she was determined not to let any man in. She gives off this tough, sassy, badass persona, but deep down, she’s also a woman who gives her whole heart to those she loves. She may have given her heart to someone who abused it in the past, but ever since she’s met the Paytons, she’s opened up once again. But the one who really breaks down her walls is a one-night-stand she never expects to see again.

Spencer’s eyes were wild as he took her in. “I’m the luckiest man in the world to be here right now.”
Her heart ached, because they would be only this, a screw in a bed, a fuck against a wall. Quick, dirty deeds that would never have a future. Oh well, she’d make the most of it.

Though the past two books in the series have been about some HOT mechanics, I have to say that this one British businessman was definitely able to keep up with the previous heroes. Spencer was only supposed to be Tory for a little while for his job, so his one night – the hottest night of his life – with Alex was only supposed to be just that. But when his job forces him to go back to Tory and see Alex again and again, Spencer can’t help wanting her more and more… except that his stay in Tory is once again only temporary.

“…you love to love, Alex. And you love to be loved. And you deserve it. You deserve it all.”

I adored Alex and Spencer together. The two of them are the kind of characters who have walls around their hearts, and I loved seeing the two of them break down their walls and let in love. They make such a great couple, and the chemistry between this is seriously hot. If you’re a fan of the series, you definitely don’t want to miss Dirty Deeds.

I’m desperately hoping there will be more in this series, especially a book about Davis or Delilah (or the both of them together). I seriously can’t get enough of all of these characters! And the Paytons, I just love them all so much, especially Brent. All of their interactions with each other leave me with a smile on my face. If you love your romances with the perfect balance of humor and sweet, touching moments, then you definitely need to get your hands on this series!

Blog Tour + Review, Author Interview & Giveaway: Sweetest Scoundrel by Elizabeth Hoyt

Sweetest Scoundrel Tour banner

Welcome to today’s stop on the blog tour for Sweetest Scoundrel by Elizabeth Hoyt!

Author Interview: Elizabeth Hoyt

Do you have a favorite quote/scene from the book?

“I’d rather your acid tongue than any number of sweet lies from pretty lips.”

Some authors draft meticulous outlines before starting a novel while others just sit down and start at the beginning.  What’s your writing style?

Lately I’ve been writing outlines, though not so much with the meticulous.

What has been your favorite experience as a writer?

The readers, of course. Readers who come up to me at conferences and tell me about scenes in books I wrote ten years ago (and which I can’t remember very well!) Readers who post on Facebook that they read all my books and no matter how the hero is described paste Chris Helmsworth’s face over him. Readers on Goodreads who post the funniest reviews with dozens of embedded gifs. And readers on Twitter who are so excited when I post that I’ve finished a first draft. Readers are the best.

If you weren’t a novelist what career would you like to try?

President of the United States. Although I have no political background, I have never cheated on my spouse or taken money from any special interest groups. Also, I am sane. At the moment I feel this makes me more qualified than 95% of the contenders.

For readers who have never read a Maiden Lane book, what would you tell them they can expect from your stories?

Emotion. Some humor. A bit of action. Some lovely sweaty sex.

SHE’S TAKING CHARGE

Prim, proper, and thrifty, Eve Dinwoody is all business when it comes to protecting her brother’s investment. But when she agrees to control the purse strings of London’s premier pleasure garden, Harte’s Folly, she finds herself butting heads with an infuriating scoundrel who can’t be controlled.

HE’S RUNNING THE SHOW

Bawdy and bold, Asa Makepeace doesn’t have time for a penny-pinching prude like Eve. As the garden’s larger-than-life owner, he’s already dealing with self-centered sopranos and temperamental tenors. He’s not about to let an aristocratic woman boss him around . . . no matter how enticing she is.

BUT LOVE CONQUERS ALL

In spite of her lack of theatrical experience-and her fiery clashes with Asa-Eve is determined to turn Harte’s Folly into a smashing success. But the harder she tries to manage the stubborn rake, the harder it is to ignore his seductive charm and raw magnetism. There’s no denying the smoldering fire between them-and trying to put it out would be the greatest folly of all . . .

Sweetest Scoundrel is actually the first book I’ve read by Elizabeth Hoyt, but I jumped at the chance to read it because I LOVE historical romances even though I don’t read them very often, and I was looking forward to the fact that the hero isn’t an aristocrat. Thankfully, I wasn’t confused at all jumping into book 9 of the Maiden Lane series, so if you’re like me and haven’t read the series yet, this book can be read completely as a standalone.

Asa Makepeace’s whole life is his pleasure garden, which is a sort of theatre with performances, opera, and the like. He’s currently rebuilding it after it was burned down in a fire, but unfortunately it’s costing a lot of money to do so. One of his investors is the Duke of Montgomery, and the duke’s sister, Eve Dinwoody, is in charge of the money, so when she realizes that Asa’s pleasure garden is using up way more money than expected, she goes down to cut the funding for the garden. Sadly, Asa makes a less-than-grand entrance in Eve’s life – he’s naked, with a woman in his bed, and very rude to Eve. Basically, he’s a total jerk to her because he thinks she cold and stuck-up, but he tries to butter her up later when he realizes his funding is going to be cut. Eventually they agree on a deal, and as the two of them spend more time together, they realize that their first impressions of each other were wrong.

He realized suddenly, that he might have had it all wrong. Perhaps her core wasn’t bloodless after all. Perhaps under that cold exterior, that polite, aristocratic facade, there boiled a passionate woman, hiding her emotion from all the world.
And he wondered what would happen if he stripped away her exterior, tore through her frozen, refined walls and dug his finders into the molten heat at her center.

I actually really enjoyed Sweetest Scoundrel, after I warmed up to Asa, since he’s not very likable in the beginning. He’s a prick, but thankfully he quickly realizes that there’s a lot more to Eve than meets the eye. The both of them have their own traumatic pasts, which are slowly revealed as the two gain each other’s trust. As for Eve, I really adored her character – she’s scarred, innocent, lovable. She’s the kind of character that makes me want to wrap her up in a hug.

Elizabeth Hoyt knows how to write some hot chemistry! The tension between Eve and Asa is raw and palpable, and so much fun to read about. They’re drawn to one another, despite how different they are, but they can’t help that they want each other. It’s so sweet how Asa turns all protective and alpha-y when it comes to Eve – he grows to care for her so much! He’s determined to help her overcome her fears, and break out of the shell she hides in. And Eve just can’t resist Asa’s oozing sensuality.

“Lily of the valley,” he murmured. “I’ll remember that scent forever now, and whenever I smell it again I’ll think of you, Eve Dinwoody. You’ll be haunting my tomorrows evermore.”

Elizabeth Hoyt is now an author I definitely need to keep an eye out on. I loved her writing – I can’t believe I hadn’t read this series sooner! I need to start the series from the beginning now, since I enjoyed Sweetest Scoundrel so much. The main characters are endearing and lovable, and I loved how sweet their romance turned. I’d definitely recommend this book – it’s entertaining, satisfying, and seriously HOT.

Release Week Blitz + Author Interview & Giveaway: Steal Me by Lauren Layne

Steal Me Release Week Blitz

Happy Release Day to Lauren Layne – Steal Me is live! Check out my Q&A with Lauren below, as well as my review and a fantastic giveaway!

Author Interview: Lauren Layne

What would readers be surprised to find out about you?

That I’m a total science fiction geek. Star Wars is my favorite movie of all time, although my husband has slowly converted me over to Star Trek, and I’m a big fan of that as well.

Tell us about your writing process. Do you start with an idea or a character? Do you know what’s going to happen from the beginning or do you figure it out as you write?

I almost always start with the idea or the general premise; rarely does the character come first. And I’m a planner. I’ve gotten looser with my planning as I write more books and get more comfortable with the flow of writing a book, but I generally have at least a pretty comprehensive list of scenes that need to get written before I type Chapter One.

Who gave you the one piece of writing advice that sticks with you to this day?

I believe it was Nora Roberts who said, “I can fix a bad page, but I can’t fix a blank one.” I repeat that on almost a daily basis. I know that I just need to reach The End, no matter how messy the words might be. Once the words are there, they’re always fixable.

Is there one thing you have to have when writing?

Oh man. I’m going to be super literal here and say my laptop. I like music but don’t need it. And usually have my water bottle, but not always. Sometimes a notebook, sometimes not. I’m pretty bare bones and minimalist J

How did you choose the names of your characters?

The main characters I spend a bit of time going through name lists, trying to get the right vibe (and finding one that I haven’t used before, which is getting harder and harder). For minor characters, I use a “random name” generator on my web browser.

How has music played a role in your life and in your writing?

I make soundtracks for almost all of my books, there’s always one song that’s more vital than the rest. Name any of my books, and I can tell you which song I listened to on repeat while writing it!

When was the moment that you knew you had to be a writer?

Ha. I think I was born this way. For as long as I can remember, I was that kid that said I wanted to be an author when I grew up, and I always loved writing in school. Then college ended. I had no more writing to do for school, but I also didn’t think that writing could be a full-time career, so I entered the work force and put writing behind me as a hobby. What a mistake!! That all came back to bite me a few years later when the need to write was so strong that it was all I could think about. It took me a year or so to work up the courage, another year or so to stick with it, and then I decided to jump in with both feet. I quit my job, moved to New York, wrote about four books in two months like a mad woman, and got an agent/publisher.

What can you tell us about your couple, that we won’t find in the book?

Of all my books, Steal Me is the one that veered the most from my original outline. The original heroine was a feisty red-head named Kat who was the least suspect in a burglary case. I’m not sure why or when it changed, but by the time I’d finished Frisk Me (book one in the series), I knew that Anthony’s story and woman were entirely different than I’d originally planned.

IN HOT PURSUIT

Being a cop might be in Anthony Moretti’s blood, but protecting and serving the city of New York has always been more than just the family business. If that means his love life stays locked up, well then that’s just another sacrifice made in the line of duty. That is, until he sets eyes on the gorgeous new waitress at The Darby Diner and suddenly Anthony’s morning coffee is leaving him a whole lot more hot and bothered than usual.

Though waitressing at The Darby isn’t exactly Maggie Walker’s dream job, it pays the bills and gives her time to work on her novel. Now if only she could stop fantasizing about gorgeous Anthony Moretti every time he sits down at her table, she’d really be in great shape. But when he needs her help identifying a criminal threatening The Darby—and Maggie recognizes her ex-husband—she fears her fresh start might be a pipe dream. Faster than a New York minute, Maggie and Anthony find themselves in one perilous pursuit that only gets hotter with each and every rule-breaking kiss.

Welcome to today’s stop on the promo tour for Long Way Down by Krista & Becca Ritchie!!! I’m so, so, sooo excited to have Krista & Becca here today on the blog with an interview! Check it out below – and don’t forget that Long Way Down releases on Nov. 20th (3 more days)!

Author Interview: Krista & Becca Ritchie

This is the FINAL book in the Addicted series (kinda)!!! I can’t believe it’s almost over! How are you two feeling about this?

Becca: so many emotions! I bounce back between being overcome with joy to being overcome with sadness. Bittersweet is probably the best word.

Krista: Bittersweet is the perfect word! We’re so ready to share the end of the series with everyone, but at the same time it’s a bit heartbreaking to finally let it go.

What were your thoughts right after you finished writing Long Way Down?

Becca: It’s over. Omg. It’s over. I started bawling.

Krista: I’ve never cried so much. And it’s not a normal crying, it was the full-on snot-nosed, blubbering. My thoughts ranged from this is everything we hoped it’d be to this can’t be the end. And then cue more waterworks.

How would you describe Daisy and Ryke at the start of LWD?

Becca: By this time, they’ve been a couple for a long while. They’re not so much in the honeymoon stage of their relationship like they were in Hothouse Flower. They know each other really, really well. Recently, they’ve been through some personal struggles (this was show at the end of Fuel the Fire) and that weighs heavy on their minds.

Krista: Completely agree with Becca! The Daisy and Ryke you see in LWD is one you haven’t had the chance to see yet. They’re a solid couple in the later stages of their relationship.

How would you describe Daisy and Ryke to someone who’s never read them?

Becca: Adventurous but extremely caring and giving. Ryke Meadows will literally take the shirt off his back and hand it to a stranger if they need it more than him.

Krista: I also think they’re both a bit misunderstood. Ryke comes across as very aggressive, but he has a soft heart. Daisy can seem too nonchalant, young and carefree, but she has very serious moments and this internal maturity that not many people see.

What can Raisy/Addicted fans expect in LWD? Any OMFG moments?

Becca: Plenty of OMFG moments! Long Way Down has a little bit of everything and then a lot of other things 😀

Krista: Long Way Down is a huge book! So like Becca said, there’s a little bit of everything.

This is Daisy and Ryke’s final book. Any last words you’d like to say to them?

Becca: Daisy, I just want to tell you that sometimes people might not hear you or see what you’re going through, but there are people who love you and people who do care. I’m very proud of all that you’ve overcome. Thank you for letting us write your story. You mean so much to us.

Krista: Ryke, thank you for literally pushing your way into this series. Had it not been for you, some of the characters wouldn’t have had the growth they needed. Your relationships with friends, family, and Daisy have been some of our favorites to write. Thank you for allowing us to put your journey to paper. We fucking love you.

Of course, I have to ask, how big is LWD? Is it the longest of the series?

Becca: GIANT. IT IS FAT. Without a doubt.

Krista: It’s much, much bigger than even our biggest novel.

We know LWD isn’t quite the end for the Addicted series. Why did you decide to write a full-length epilogue book?

Becca: There are things that we want to show “after” Long Way Down, and instead of just writing little snippets of bonus material, we’ve decided to combine it all together. It’ll give a fuller, more detailed picture of “the end” than when you see in Long Way Down. It’ll also be a good bridge book to the Like Us series, which is a spin-off of the Addicted series.

Krista: That’s the perfect explanation! We’re planning on writing enough for it that it wouldn’t feel right just releasing it as bonus material.

Lastly, what are you two currently working on? Is there anything you can share about Some Kind of Perfect or Infini?

Becca: We’ll share more info about Some Kind of Perfect after Long Way Down releases. It’s kind of spoilery if we try to discuss it now. Infini is going to be so much fun! We can’t wait to share it. It’s a childhood best friends to lovers story with a bit of a twist 😀

Krista: We’re currently plotting both Some Kind of Perfect and Infini. After we take a little reading break (we haven’t read in ages!), we’re going to start writing those two.

Thank you so much for the interview, girls!

Becca: Thanks so much for having us on your blog!!

Krista: Thank you!!!

Welcome to today’s stop on the blog tour for Blurred Lines by Lauren Layne! I have an interview with Lauren today, as well as an excerpt from Blurred Lines and a giveaway!

Author Interview: Lauren Layne

What are five words to describe Blurred Lines?

Sexy, LOL, Fun, Beach-Read, Romantic

What was the inspiration for Blurred Lines?

Back before I knew that the romance genre was a thing, I used to read this line of what was basically, YA category romance (no idea what it was called), and I used to be obsessed with best-friends-to-lovers stories. I randomly started remembering those early teen-year reads, and realized that I HAD to write one. So I did!

Who was your favorite character to write and why?

Ben. There’s a lot of pressure to write heroes a certain way in today’s romance climate. I ignored all of that with Ben. I simply wrote him how he was in my head, and I think he comes across as extremely real because of it. Although, I really have to say that I’m proud of how I wrote Parker. I wasn’t afraid to let her make mistakes—one BIG mistake in particular that pissed some readers off—but she too, feels real to me. Okay, I’m changing my answer. Ben and Parker are BOTH my favorite characters, because they are so, so far from perfect 🙂

What’s the best part about a friends-to-lovers romance?

I’ve always found it easier to believe in the HEA when the couple’s known each other for years as friends. When they walk off into the sunset, you know it’s not a whirlwind romance that might hit the skids once they start living together. These are two people who KNOW each other, quirks and all. I don’t think there’s anything more romantic than someone who knows you at your worst self and loves you anyway.

In a novel that’s perfect for fans of Abbi Glines and Jessica Sorensen, USA Todaybestselling author Lauren Layne delivers a sexy take on the timeless question: Can a guy and a girl really be “just friends”?

When Parker Blanton meets Ben Olsen during her freshman year of college, the connection is immediate—and platonic. Six years later, they’re still best friends, sharing an apartment in Portland’s trendy Northwest District as they happily settle into adult life. But when Parker’s boyfriend dumps her out of the blue, she starts to wonder about Ben’s no-strings-attached approach to dating. The trouble is, even with Ben as her wingman, Parker can’t seem to get the hang of casual sex—until she tries it with him.

The arrangement works perfectly . . . at first. The sex is mind-blowing, and their friendship remains as solid as ever, without any of the usual messy romantic entanglements. But when Parker’s ex decides he wants her back, Ben is shocked by a fierce stab of possessiveness. And when Ben starts seeing a girl from work, Parker finds herself plagued by unfamiliar jealousy. With their friendship on the rocks for the first time, Parker and Ben face an alarming truth: Maybe they can’t go back. And maybe, deep down, they never want to.

Now here’s an excerpt from Blurred Lines! ❤

Most of the time, having a girl for a best friend is awesome.

Among the highlights:

(1) My color-blind self never has to worry about going out the door looking like a sad clown.

(2) The Brita water filter is always replaced on time.

(3) Parker actually likes doing laundry for fun, and she only complains when I sneak my stuff in with hers about 30 percent of the time.

Oh, and as this morning’s adventure displayed, she’s an excellent excuse when a person needs to rid himself of clingy one-night stands.

But then there are the not-so-great parts. Like when she’s spent thirty-five minutes looking at lamps.

“Just get that one,” I say, lifting my arm to point at a random floor lamp as the noisy, child-filled scariness that is IKEA threatens to choke me.

She barely glances at the one I’ve selected. “It looks like a uterus.”

“What the fuck does a uterus look like?”

“Like that lamp. And honestly, for as much time as you spend rummaging around in women’s panties, you really should get familiar with their parts.”

“Isn’t the uterus the—” I break off, looking for the right word to describe the random memories from eighth-grade sex-ed class.

Parker lifts her eyebrows. “The baby cave?”

Like any normal guy would, I wince. “Christ. Why would I need to know about that? I use a condom.”

“Several of them, judging from the state of your bedroom,” she says, tilting her head to study the lime green lamp shade in her hands. “Do you think this would clash with my bedspread?”

“You’re asking the color-blind guy? Like I have any clue what color your bedspread is.”

“Seriously? Don’t act like you’ve never seen it. Two nights ago you flopped onto my bed in your sweaty gym clothes and it took me two washes to remove the man stank.”

I shake my head. “Poor Lance. Do you make him wear a plastic bag when you guys hook up so he doesn’t get his man stank on your sheets?”

“Lance doesn’t have man stank.”

I frown. “Hold up. If I have man stank, Lance has man stank.”

“No.”

I open my mouth to argue, but instead I shrug. That’s another thing you learn having a girl best friend. You pick your battles.

“You have two more minutes to pick your lamp,” I say. “I’m starving.”

Parker adjusts her purse strap on her shoulder. “Oh, I’m not buying a lamp. I was just browsing.”

I inhale deeply to rein in my women suck rampage when I catch her smirk.

“Oh, I get it,” I say as we move toward the end of the store where we’ll pick up my dresser. “This is payback. You’re mad because I made up that story about you having a creepy doll collection.”

“Actually, it was more punishment for destroying the house rules. I’m totally laminating them next time.”

“Or you could just create an online version and keep them in the cloud like normal people born after 1980.”

I see a little lightbulb go on in her head and almost regret giving her the idea. Not that it matters much. I’ve never really followed her fussy rules anyway, although for the most part I try to not be too much of a dick. The towel incident this morning notwithstanding, it’s like I said, Parker loves laundry. I knew she had extra clean ones stashed away.

“Seriously, don’t get that color finish,” she says, shaking her head at the dresser box I’m about to pull off the shelf.

“Wood is wood,” I say with a shrug, starting to maneuver the huge box onto our flat cart.

“No, there’s old-man wood and there’s modern wood.”

I raise my eyebrows. “Old-man wood, huh? You and your kinky fetishes. Do you make the dolls watch?”

She ignores me, and uses her hip to push the box I’d started to move back onto its shelf. “That one.” She points.

“Espresso?” I ask, reading the label.

But Parker is now typing away on her phone. I shrug, pushing her out of the way so I can get at the box she indicated.

“How about tacos?” she asks, glancing up briefly from her phone.

“I just had Mexican last night,” I say through a grunt as I move the box into position.

“You said I could pick.” She gives me a challenging look, her goldish brown eyes practically daring me to argue with her.

“If it was a unilateral decision, why’d you even ask?”

Unilateral. Good word. And it was a test. You passed,” she says, trotting to catch up with me as she replaces her phone in her purse. “So how did you and Airhead meet? The Beta Phi party last night? She looked like she was eighteen.”

“Airhead?” I ask.

“It was written on her pants. Literally.”

“Oh, right. Those weren’t her pants. Lindsay left them last week.”

She makes a disgusted face as she pulls her long dark hair into a messy bun. I don’t notice most things about Parker as a girl, because, ya know, it’s just Parker, but she does have some damn good hair. It’s all Victoria’s Secret model–-like, long and dark with lightish streaks running through it.

The rest of her is kind of Victoria’s Secret-ish, too, but other than an initial moment of whoa when we first met, there’s never really been anything between us. I guess you could say I like her too much.

That and she’s dating Lance, and I like the guy. I mean, we’re not best friends or anything, but it’s impossible to live with Parker and not have some sort of friendship with her significant other.

Lance and I stop short of braiding each other’s hair, but we watch games together on occasion. I’d never make a move on his girl—even if I wanted Parker.

Which I don’t.

“So let me get this straight,” she says, as I swipe my credit card through the self-checkout machine. “One of your booty calls leaves her pants, which is weird, by the way, and then a week later, an underclassman sorority girl willingly puts them on?”

I shrug and give her a look out of the corner of my eye. “What’s wrong with that?”

Parker closes her eyes and sort of scratches at her eyebrow. “You don’t tell your mother any of this, do you?”

“Sure, we actually have a family blog, and I list my sexual activity for the week every Sunday. Is that weird?”

She ignores me, pulling out her phone again.
