Farmers make the earth move.

The last person Griffin Shipley expects to find stuck in a ditch on his Vermont country road is his ex-hookup. Five years ago they’d shared a couple of steamy nights together. But that was a lifetime ago.

At twenty-seven, Griff is now the accidental patriarch of his family farm. Even his enormous shoulders feel the strain of supporting his mother, three siblings and a dotty grandfather. He doesn’t have time for the sorority girl who’s shown up expecting to buy his harvest at half price.

Vermont was never in Audrey Kidder’s travel plans. Neither was Griff Shipley. But she needs a second chance with the restaurant conglomerate employing her. Okay—a fifth chance. And no self-righteous lumbersexual farmer will stand in her way.

They’re adversaries. They want entirely different things from life. Too bad their sexual chemistry is as hot as Audrey’s top secret enchilada sauce, and then some.

Warning: Contains sexual situations, gourmet yumminess, a steamy outdoor shower and proof that farmers don’t mind getting dirty.

Holy freaking CRAP, I loved this book SO DAMN MUCH!!!! Bittersweet is the type of book that went above and beyond anything I ever expected. This is that first straight romance I’ve read from Sarina Bowen and it will definitely not be my last. I honestly can’t handle the amount of love I have for this book. IT. IS. AMAZING!!! Charmingly hilarious, amazingly sexy, and utterly heartwarming, Bittersweet swept me away and made my heart so happy. It’s one of the best books I’ve read all year!

Audrey and Griffin hooked up once in college but haven’t seen each other for years since. Audrey went off to become a chef and Griffin went off to play ball, only to go back home to the ranch help out his family. Now, both are struggling with their careers, but a twist of fate brings them back together, and they find that they can help each other out job-wise. Except the crazy hot chemistry they used to have back in college is still going strong. Should they get involved with each other again when they’re living two completely different lives… Or do they have something worthwhile to pursue?

She and I were a dangerous combination. We needed cautionary signs like the ones hanging in the tractor shed over the cans of diesel fuel. WARNING: COMBUSTIBLE.

Audrey and Griffin are absolutely AMAZING together!!! They are wonderful as individuals, both so strong, independent, funny, and lovable, but together is when they truly shine. They might not have been meant for each other in college, but fate has brought them together again for a reason, and you can clearly see that they are absolutely meant to be together. Griff is all big, sexy, protective, and caring, while Audrey is charming, witty, gorgeous, and ambitious. Their growing romance (and the hot, hot, HOT sexy times) was phenomenally written. Sarina Bowen has written a beautiful love story I rooted for from start to finish.

Whether it was convenient or not, Audrey and I just fit. We’d always been good together. It’s just that I’d never allowed myself to imagine a future where we shared everything. A bed. A home.
A name.
Hell. That got me panting. I wanted everything. There was nobody else who got under my skin like she had. To think of her as mine seemed like an impossible luxury.
It’s the only luxury I’ve ever been greedy for.

What I also loved about Bittersweet besides the romance was the farming life! The author was able to integrate everything related to farming in a cohesive, understandable, and relatable way, and I applaud her for it. Really, there was no part of this book that I didn’t enjoy or love. I never wanted Griffin and Audrey’s story to end! No joke, I couldn’t stop smiling as I read this book, giggling at all the witty banter and grinning at the delicious tension between the main characters. It was a fantastic start to the True North series, and I’m already dying for more. I can’t wait to read the next two books!

Author Interview: Sarina Bowen

Bittersweet is one of my favorite reads of the year! What inspired you to write it?

Thank you! Farmers really are sexy. True story! I am surrounded by interesting growers where I live. They’re young activists who want to change the shape of our food supply, and they are really inspiring.

Did you have to do some research on the farming aspect of the story?

Yes, and I enjoyed every moment of it. The organic-or-die Cedar Circle Farm in Thetford, VT is one of my favorite stops, and we buy hard cider in growlers from Poverty Lane Orchard in Lebanon, NH.

I’m in LOVE with Griffin – do you have a model inspiration for him?

Not really! Finding that photo for the cover, though, was some excellent luck. I thought: there he is!

Who was your favorite character to write?

I love them all equally. 😉

What was your favorite scene to write?

The cider-tasting scene! I cracked myself right up when Audrey would think the cider tasted like sex.

I know Jude will be getting his story next in Steadfast, but will Zach be book #3? *cough* Male virgin alert! *cough*

Oh you better believe it! Zach is totally book #3.

Will we see more of Griff and Audrey in the upcoming True North books?

Absolutely. I promise!

What are you currently working on now?

I’m writing Brooklyn Bruisers #3 (even though #1 hasn’t come out yet) and putting final touches on STEADFAST.

Thank you so much, Sarina, for the interview!

A MAN OF SIN

Devastatingly handsome. Vain. Unscrupulous. Valentine Napier, the Duke of Montgomery, is the man London whispers about in boudoirs and back alleys. A notorious rake and blackmailer, Montgomery has returned from exile, intent on seeking revenge on those who have wronged him. But what he finds in his own bedroom may lay waste to all his plans.

A WOMAN OF HONOR

Born a bastard, housekeeper Bridget Crumb is clever, bold, and fiercely loyal. When her aristocratic mother becomes the target of extortion, Bridget joins the Duke of Montgomery’s household to search for the incriminating evidence-and uncovers something far more dangerous.

A SECRET THAT THREATENS TO DESTROY THEM BOTH

Astonished by the deceptively prim-and surprisingly witty-domestic spy in his chambers, Montgomery is intrigued. And try as she might, Bridget can’t resist the slyly charming duke. Now as the two begin their treacherous game of cat and mouse, they soon realize that they both have secrets-and neither may be as nefarious-or as innocent-as they appear . . .

“This is who I am, Séraphine. Naked, with blade and blood. I am vengeance. I am hate. I am sin personified. Never mistake me for the hero of this tale, for I am not and shall never be. I am the villain.”

Y’all, I freaking loved this book. LOVED!!! It’s only the second book I’ve read by Elizabeth Hoyt, but o.m.g. – it’s for sure my favorite so far. Duke of Sin is wicked, funny, sexy, complex… It made me grin, sigh, laugh, giggle – it’s an incredible read with even better characters. If you’re a fan of the series, then you most likely know who Valentine Napier, the Duke of Montgomery, is but I went into this book without really know the devious acts Val committed. Either way, you’re going to love him. He’s the PERFECT anti-hero! If you love historical romances and wicked villains for heroes, then you need to READ. THIS. BOOK.

Bridget Crumb is the housekeeper for the Duke of Montgomery, and she does a damn good job of it. But she’s got an ulterior motive, which is to find the thing her employer is blackmailing her mother with. Val is the king of blackmail. The more blackmail he has, the more powerful he is, and he uses that power for scheming and wicked intentions. He’s not a good man… but he’s not entirely bad either. Which is why when Val catches Bridget in the act of stealing from him, he’s more intrigued by her than anything. He’s finally found his intellectual match, and he’s going to make sure she stays by his side so he can pursue something more carnal with her.

Bridget is honestly the perfect counterpart to Val. Where Val doesn’t differentiate right from wrong and seeks pleasure in all things, Bridget is prim and proper and doesn’t give a hoot about who Val is or what he does. She’s the only one who doesn’t fall to his feet in lust or fear – though she certainly feels the chemistry between them. She’s good at masking her feelings, but Val is determined to get under her skin like she’s done to him, and when he succeeds, well – things heat up like crazy. The way the lust and romance develop and intertwine left me breathless – Elizabeth Hoyt nailed this aspect of the book perfectly!

He was sin itself and if she was a sinner for a little while, she’d pay the price gladly.

Admittedly, Duke of Sin took me a little while to get into because I just didn’t KNOW how to feel about Val. He’s just so strange, with so many layers and dynamics to him. But in the end, I loved him, and Bridget. The way they couldn’t resist each other and slowly fell for one another… it’s beautifully romantic and wicked sexy. I can’t recommend this book enough! This is definitely a new favorite historical romance of mine.

He sighed. She was such a wonderful woman. He could’ve spent his entire life searching the world and never found her. Who would’ve thought such a marvel was right under his nose in his own house?

I did get a little annoyed at all the POV changes to the Duke of Kyle, but I guess I can’t complain, because now I’m excited for his book next! I really should start the series from the beginning and catch myself up – I love Elizabeth Hoyt’s writing, and I’m loving the series as I read more and more. Thankfully, each book can be read as a standalone, but I’m still planning on reading the Maiden Lane series in its entirety!

Now here’s an excerpt from Duke of Sin! ❤

“I was told you had need of me, Your Grace,” she reminded him, folding her hands at her waist to hide the trembling that had begun again. She’d been in demand before this position. Duchesses and lionesses of society had wanted her.

“So practical,” he mused, tilting his golden head back to gaze, presumably, at the gaudy sky-blue velvet canopy of his bed. She’d always thought it rather vulgar, actually. “I suppose that would be considered a good thing in a housekeeper.”

“It’s generally considered so, Your Grace.”

“And yet, I find it somewhat…”—he raised his naked arm straight up above his head and twirled his hand as he thought—“irksome.”

“I am sorry, Your Grace,” Bridget said as pleasantly as she could, which, sadly, was not very.

“Oh, don’t be,” the duke murmured silkily. “One can’t help one’s nature, no matter how irritating it is to others.”

His azure eyes suddenly dropped to pin her, hard and merciless, and she lost her breath as she fell into his predator’s stare. It was like looking into the eyes of something inhuman, almost otherworldly. Her chest ached as she stared at him, the air still locked within her, but at the same time the place between her legs ached as well.

Then she inhaled, filling her lungs with sweet air, as he watched her still, his eyes half-lidded, and she felt an odd exhilaration, as if a gauntlet had been thrown down. As if they were adversaries, equal on the field.

Which was completely ridiculous.

Possibly she shouldn’t have indulged in that third cup of tea this morning.

“I wonder whom you work for, Mrs. Crumb?” he whispered.

“Why, for you, Your Grace,” she replied, holding his gaze.

He snorted.

She felt a bead of perspiration trail down her spine.

He strode, nude, to his desk, and, bending over it, afforded her a quite scandalous view of his muscular bottom. He seemed to have a dark mark of some kind on the left cheek. Good God, it looked like a tattoo. What—? “Why, Mrs. Crumb,” he drawled, and she snapped her gaze belatedly up to find that he’d turned back to her—damn it! “Were you ogling my arse?”

She opened her mouth and then wasn’t sure, exactly, what to say. Was he about to dismiss her or not? “I…I—”

“Ye-es?” He took one long stride toward her.

She was suddenly, overwhelmingly aware of what she’d until now successfully ignored: He. Was. Nude.

His shoulders were wide, his chest highlighted by pale-pink nipples drawn tight, with but a few curling golden hairs between. His torso narrowed in a perfect V to a slim waist and a shallow belly button. A thin line of slightly darker hair led to his genitals.

During his supposed absence Bridget had had plenty of time to study the life-size nude portrait of the duke hanging next to his bed. She’d long thought the dimensions of his manhood exaggerated.

They were not.

She hastily glanced up to find him standing far too close to her, a wicked smile playing about his mouth.

“Oh, Mrs. Crumb, such a look,” he murmured, his voice a deep purr, his bare chest brushing against her snowy white apron. “Why, I don’t know whether to guard my bollocks…”—his gaze dropped to her mouth—“or to kiss you.”

Greer Karas has been mine since the first day I saw her.

I walked away because she deserved better than I could offer, but I always planned to come back and stake my claim when the time was right.

But true to form, Greer wasn’t willing to wait. She threw down a challenge, and I’m meeting her head-on.

I’m not walking away this time because sometimes you have to fight dirty for love.

Meghan March has seriously hooked me onto Greer and Cav’s addicting story! If you haven’t read Dirty Girl yet, you should definitely do so before picking up Dirty Love. Dirty Love is the continuation of the Dirty Girl Duet and picks up right after that killer cliffhanger. I won’t spoil anything from either book, but just saying, you should definitely add this series to your tbr if you love quick, dirty, raunchy books!!

After these last several days, I felt like we were building a new, more solid level of trust between us. But how solid can something be when you built it on a foundation of lies?

Ever since that god-awful cliffie from Dirty Girl, I’d been dying to read Dirty Love, and Meghan March certainly didn’t disappoint. Once again, she delivers a heart-pounding, sexy AF read, and it’s a wonderful conclusion to Greer and Cav’s story. This book was exactly what I’d hoped it would be – intense, a little angsty, and dirty as hell. So how could I not enjoy it!?

…when it comes to Greer, I’m willing to do whatever it takes. She’s the ultimate prize, and I’m not above fighting dirty to get what I want.

Three years ago, Cav walked away from the most important thing to him… but now that he’s back in Greer’s life, he’s going to do whatever it takes to make sure he stays right by her side. Nothing, not his secrets, his lies, or even Greer’s protective brother will stop Cav from being with the woman he loves more than anything. Meghan March totally nailed this over-the-top, possessive alpha-male, determined to win back his love.

“Most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen, and you’re mine. Every single fucking piece of you is mine. I won’t take anything less, Greer. All of you. That’s what I want.”

This series is the best I’ve read so far of the author’s. I was in the mood for hot, kinky, and fun, and Meghan March delivered wonderfully. If you ever feel like relaxing with a sexy read, this series would be it. 😉

Right now, I just want Cav. I might still want to kill him later, but not right this moment.

I suck his finger into my mouth, laving it with my tongue and lips and dragging lightly down it with my teeth.

As we hurtle down the runway, I make promises to him with my eyes. Take the restraints off or don’t; I’m still going to want you.

Cav reaches out with his other hand and cups my breast, covered only by the soft material of my thin T-shirt. Chill bumps prickle along my skin when his fingers close around my nipple and twist.

A moan escapes my lips, and I press into his touch. We say nothing until the captain announces that we’ve reached our cruising altitude.

Cav removes his seat belt and mine before hauling me back onto his lap.

“Jesus Christ, woman. Feel what you did to me.”

He presses his hips up and against me, and I wiggle my ass against his cock’s solid length.

“I want it.”

“Good, because I’m going to lower you onto your knees, unzip my pants, and help you take it down your throat. And then I’m going to lift you up on my lap and slide your pussy down my cock until you’re full of me.”

His dirty talk kills me every time.

“What are you waiting for?” I ask, my tone taking on a seductive depth.

“Need to taste you again first.”

His lips crush to mine, and his tongue dives inside without waiting for invitation. Cav kisses like he does everything else—throwing his whole self into it. His hand is buried in my hair, tilting my head the way he likes. I moan into his mouth, loving the urgency radiating from him.

Finally, he pulls my head back, his eyes greener than before. “On your knees, baby girl.”

I nod as he helps me to the floor, the plush carpeting cushioning my position. Cav unzips his jeans and fists his cock as he pulls it out. As I lean forward, my hair falls around my face, but with my bound hands, I’m helpless to pull it back.

Cav wraps one hand around the tangled strands and clenches it behind my head. I’m at his mercy, and yet I’ve never felt more powerful. The need in his eyes burns into me, and I want to give as much as I want to take.

Release Day Review: Sugar Daddy by Sawyer Bennett

Sugar Daddy by Sawyer Bennett

Sugar Daddy by Sawyer Bennett
Series: Sugar Bowl #1 (full reading order below)
Publication Date: May 24th 2016
Links: Ebook • PaperbackGoodreads
Source: I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

Sela Halstead lost her innocence in a way that no sixteen-year-old should ever have to endure. She’s spent years trying to forget that night even while wondering about the identities of the monsters who brutalized her—until a telltale tattoo flashes across Sela’s TV screen. The incriminating ink belongs to Jonathon Townsend, the millionaire founder of The Sugar Bowl, a website that matches rich older men with impressionable young women. Obsessed with revenge, Sela infiltrates Townsend’s world, only to come face-to-face with a tantalizing complication: Beckett North, his charismatic business partner.

The tech mastermind behind The Sugar Bowl, Beck always gets what he wants, in business and in bed. And yet, for a man who’s done every dirty thing imaginable, there’s something about the naïve, fresh-faced Sela that sparks his hottest fantasies. Because with her, it’s not just about sex. Beck opens up to her in ways he never has with other girls. So why does he get the feeling that she’s hiding something? In a world of pleasure and power, the shocking truth could turn them against each other—or bind them forever.

Note: Sugar Daddy ends on a cliffhanger. Sela and Beck’s story continues in Sugar Rush and Sugar Free!

Sawyer Bennett is a go-to contemporary romance author for me – her books are always so well-written and enjoyable! Sugar Daddy has been on my radar ever since I heard the awesome title, and then I read the blurb, which totally sold me. Sugar Daddy is the first book in Sela and Beck’s story, and seriously, I’m dying for more. It’s a good start to a series that has so much potential to become even better. Fans of the author should definitely check this one out!

The plot of Sugar Daddy is intriguing, to say the least. Sela Halstead is on a plan of revenge against the men who raped her on her sixteenth birthday ten years ago. It’s a rash, not-too-smart move, but who can blame her with the hatred she feels against Jonathon Townsend, one of her rapists who’s living the rich life? Her in is through The Sugar Bowl, of which Jonathon co-owns, a dating website for sugar daddies and sugar babies. Sela disguises herself as a sugar baby, and while she planned to get close to Jonathon, she doesn’t expect to get close to his co-owner instead.

Whatever the connection . . . for whatever reason that I’ve given her something that others haven’t, I have a deep gut instinct that it’s something that defies reason or logic. I almost get the sense it’s mystical in nature and I’m intrigued beyond measure. And for the first time in my life, I’m doing something that is completely unlike anything Beck North has ever done before.
I’m exploring something deeper with one woman.
This woman to be exact.

Beckett North is the tech genius behind The Sugar Bowl, though he doesn’t partake in its activities himself. He’s rich enough to be a sugar daddy, but he’s never wanted to be one… until now. From the moment he meets Sela, he wants her bad, and he’ll do anything to have her. So they agree on a contract that will last a month to explore the explosive chemistry between them. Sugar Daddy is seriously HOT – Sawyer Bennett writes some steamy scenes in this book. But what I loved in addition to that was the way Sela and Beck develop feelings for each other slowly. But can they have a relationship when it’s built on lies, and Sela is determined to go through with her revenge?

I, Sela Halstead, am not as broken as I thought I was. While I thought Jonathon Townsend took everything away from me, I’ve realized just now that he took nothing. He only warped my perception.
… I realized that intimacy is actually something that I could learn to crave with a man like Beckett North and that I’ve only just begun to discover the true potential inside of myself.

I loved the way this book started and ended (omg – don’t even get me started on that killer cliffhanger). The middle was a little too slow and repetitive, but I still enjoyed the book overall. The ending made me want to SCREAM – I need the next book yesterday. Sugar Daddy is a great first installment – I may not have completely loved it, but I’m totally invested in Sela and Beck, and can’t wait to see how their story continues.

Release Day Review: Wasted Words by Staci Hart

Wasted Words by Staci Hart
Series: Standalone
Publication Date: May 19th 2016
Links: Ebook • Paperback • Goodreads
Source: I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review

Some universal truths refuse to be ignored.

Peanut butter and jelly are a match made in heaven. Spaghetti and meatballs are best friends forever. And guys like Tyler Knight don’t go for girls like Cam Emerson.

She knew from the second she met him that he didn’t belong on her bookshelf, the six-foot-six ex-tight end with a face so all-American, it could have sold apple pie. So she shelved him next to the supermodels and rock stars and took her place on her own shelf — the one with the flannel-clad, pasty-faced comic book nerds. Most of her boyfriends have existed between the pages of books, but rather than worrying over her own lacking love life, she puts all her energy into playing Cupid, using her job at the book bar, Wasted Words, as her stomping ground.

Tyler Knight always looks on the bright side. His career-ending injury turned into a job as a sports agent. A horrible breakup led him to Cam, his quirky, smart roommate who is far more beautiful than she realizes. She’s made it perfectly clear she’s not interested in him — not like that at least — but if she ever changes her mind, he won’t hesitate. Because he doesn’t see the lines she’s drawn between them, as much as she insists that they’re there. Deep down he knows that despite their differences, they’re a match well made.

*A romantic comedy inspired by Jane Austen’s Emma*

Staci Hart writes the cutest new adult contemporary romances!! Wasted Words is another lovely friends-to-lovers romance of hers, with an added opposites-attract theme. It was really an adorable read – Tyler is the sweetest hero ever, Cam is flawed but relatable, and the story simple but well-written. If you’re a fan of the author’s Bad Habits series, or you like light-hearted contemporary romances, I highly recommend this one!

“So you have daydreamed about it,” Bayleigh said as she crossed her arms.
“You’ve seen him. How could you not? But it’s like fantasizing about a book boyfriend. One-hundred-percent of the time, it’s fictional, which makes it harmless.”

Cam Emerson and Tyler Knight are strictly roommates and friends. Sure, Tyler’s the hottest guy Cam’s ever met, and Cam is the sweetest girl Tyler’s ever met, but they’d never make a move on each other. Cam thinks Tyler is way out her league – he’s a six-foot-six ex-football player to her nerd-loving short self – and since she’s been burned by someone out of her league before, she’s never going to go for someone like that again. But when Tyler realizes that the girl who’s always been right in front of him just might be the one, how is he going to convince Cam that they’re perfect together?

She wasn’t like the other girls I’d dated. She was real and good and true, and she wanted me. I felt more safe with her than any woman I’d ever been with.

First off, I have to say that I adore the place Cam works at. Wasted Words is a coffee shop/bar/bookstore, which literally sounds like heaven to me. I love the way Staci Hart incorporated the place into this story. Cam’s coworkers made wonderful secondary characters, and I’m hoping some might end up getting their own books! I also liked that this book was inspired by Emma by Jane Austen, a story I adore. If you loved Emma, you definitely need to check Wasted Words out, because the whole matching-making thing is spot on here. I did get really annoyed with Cam sometimes with how adamant and stubborn she is when it comes to match-making and thinking she knows best, but thankfully she does learn from her mistakes.

Tyler!!!! Ahh, Tyler is definitely the star of this book for me. He is such a GOOD GUY. He’s sweet, funny, kind, and so, so patient with Cam – I don’t know how he was able to wait for her to get her head on straight! He’s an adorable hero, and I loved getting his POV and seeing how much he feels for Cam. They make the cutest couple ever!

“I’ve never been with anyone like you, either.” He smiled, thumb shifting against my skin. “And I feel more at home than I have in a long time.”

Wasted Words is just lovely. It’s not too serious, not too light-hearted. Staci Hart definitely balanced out the emotions really well in this novel. If you’re a fan of the friends-to-lovers or opposites-attract tropes, this book needs to be on your TBR!
