Abby Wade has a dangerous secret.

Two months ago, she disobeyed an order, but instead of kicking her out of the Pride, Jace offered her a job. Since then, she’s been battling a completely inappropriate crush on the young, hot Alpha. But when accepting his job offer seems like the only way to keep her skeletons safely in their closet, Abby doesn’t hesitate.

Jace Hammond has a big problem.

A rogue is slaughtering humans in his territory, and he must eliminate the threat before the entire shifter species is exposed. There could not be a worse time for Abby to accept a job he only offered as a boost to her confidence. Abby is smart, beautiful, and resilient—more than enough to distract any man from the mission. Unfortunately, she may just be the worst enforcer ever to hold the title.

As they hunt the killer, Abby’s secret becomes a threat to Jace’s authority and to her own life. But the real danger is the grip she has on his twice-shy heart.

Dont Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Samantha is a stranger in her own life. Until the night she disappeared with her best friend, Cassie, everyone said Sam had it all-popularity, wealth, and a dream boyfriend.

Sam has resurfaced, but she has no recollection of who she was or what happened to her that night. As she tries to piece together her life from before, she realizes it’s one she no longer wants any part of. The old Sam took “mean girl” to a whole new level, and it’s clear she and Cassie were more like best enemies. Sam is pretty sure that losing her memories is like winning the lottery. She’s getting a second chance at being a better daughter, sister, and friend, and she’s falling hard for Carson Ortiz, a boy who has always looked out for her-even if the old Sam treated him like trash.

But Cassie is still missing, and the facts about what happened to her that night isn’t just buried deep inside of Sam’s memory-someone else knows, someone who wants to make sure Sam stays quiet. All Sam wants is the truth, and if she can unlock her clouded memories of that fateful night, she can finally move on. But what if not remembering is the only thing keeping Sam alive?

★ Have you seen the cover reveal for Ashes to Ashes (Experiment in Terror #8) by Karina Halle?

Ashes to Ashes by Karina Halle

It’s been two months since Perry Palomino and Dex Foray’s relationship reached a new turning point, two months since Perry started a new life in Seattle, and two months since their Experiment in Terror show took on a new partner, ex-Wine Babe Rebecca Sims, and found a new level of success. But whenever there is light in their lives, the madness still has a way of coming back in.

When the team is sent back to the stormy Oregon coast to investigate a haunted school, Perry wants to use the opportunity to reconnect with her family and reintroduce Dex into their lives. Only Perry’s not the only one who’s reaching out – her grandmother Pippa has started appearing to her with disturbing warnings and Perry’s presence at the school has ignited a chilling new wave of supernatural phenomenon. Once used a century ago as a sanatorium to house children dying of tuberculosis, the school’s past residents are slowly coming back to life and with one thing on their mind. They want someone to play with, someone to join them. Forever.

Even when dead, some children get whatever they want.

And they want Perry.

Snippets!!

★ OH MY GOD it’s a City of Heavenly Fire snippet!

“Clary,” Jocelyn said. “I want you to meet Tessa Gray.”

Clary and Tessa MEET!! AHHHH!!!

Plus, something funny from Cassandra Clare’s tumblr:

“I love you,” Will said. “I love you desperately. I have never felt for another the way I feel for you. My love for you is as eternal as the sea, and like the rocks against which the waves are dashed, again and again, it shall remain unyielding. In you I have found my own heart’s heart, which I had thought previously only to find in dreams. Never could I have encompassed a better partner, a finer friend, a more beauteous companion. Allow me just once to kiss your sweet lips.”

Jem looked up from the fire, where he was petting Church. Church had fallen asleep and all his fur was sticking up. “I do wish you would cease reading to me from Gothic novels,” he said. “They give me the pip.”

“Love is a noble emotion!” Will cried, waving his arms about with such energy that the book he was reading slid from his lap. His hair was sticking up like Church’s fur, or a bit as if he had been electrocuted.

“Quite,” said Jem, and rolled over onto his back, smiling up at Will from his place by the fire. Church twitched and snuffled, curling up against his shoulder. “Now read me something with a fight scene in it, won’t you?”

★ Snippets from Jennifer L. Armentrout!

Sentinel (Covenant #5) from her Facebook:

“Don’t make a pass at Hera,” Hades remarked, moving along. “Zeus doesn’t take kindly to another man making a move on his wife.”

That was absolutely ridiculous if you took into consideration the fact Zeus couldn’t keep it in his pants.

“Stop staring,” Aiden murmured in my ear, and when I still didn’t look away, he reached around and turned my cheek. “I thought Ixion was located in the lowest part of Tartarus?”

I made a face. Only he would know who Ixion was. Aiden had to have been such a goody two shoes in school—the kind of kid who’d raised his hand with the answer to every question. Dork. I loved him.

“We took a shortcut, so we’re several levels down.” Hades stopped his horse and swung on large leg down. We’d hit a dead end consisting of dark, slick-looking boulders. “There is another portion of Tartarus that isn’t spoken of in myths.”

Seth dismounted with the grace of a feline. “And that’s where we’re heading?”

“Yes. We’re going into the Tombs of Tartarus.”

“The Tombs of Tartarus?” Aiden repeated, sliding his arm off my waist.

Ha! Something he didn’t know. I cast him a look over my shoulder, and then slid off the horse. I stumbled a step when my feet landed. The ground was oddly… soft and buoyant.

Hades snorted. “It amazes me that you’re an Apollyon with all your agility.”

My mouth opened to fire back, but I squinted. Something was up with the ground. I took a step and my feet sank about an inch in. Aware that Aiden had landed behind me, I bent down and ran my hand over the pale pink ground. It felt like…

I jerked my hand back and looked up, horrified. “The ground feels like skin!”

A slow smile crept onto Hades’ face. “Zeus got bored with the whole rock and eagle bit.”

Rock and eagle bit…? Then it hit me. “Prometheus?”

“You’re standing on him,” Hades remarked.

My stomach turned. “Oh gods, I think I’m going to vomit.”

“Perfect,” the god said.

Trust in Me (Wait for You #1.5) from her blog:

“Tomorrow night? Oh! The astronomy assignment. Yeah, it works for me.”

“Good.” I backed away, knowing I needed to get my ass to class. “See you then.”

Shortcake turned and then pivoted back to me. “Cam?”

The knot pulsed in my chest. “Yeah?”

She fiddled with her bracelet as her gaze flicked away before settling back on me. “What were you doing in the Den? Don’t you normally have class, like right now?”

I smiled as I held her gaze. “Yeah, I normally have class right now, but I wanted to see you.”

Shock splashed over her face, and then I saw the smile light up her eyes before it even hit her lips. Feeling that knot do a funny, twisting thing, I pivoted around before I grabbed her and kissed her.

Because I was really close to doing that.

I made it across the street before a low whistle caught my attention. Looking toward the left, I saw Jase standing under a tree, cell phone in hand. Damn. He must’ve hightailed his ass from West Campus.

“Skipping class without me?” he asked as I made my way over to him, his eyes obscured by the aviator shades he was wearing. Very few people could pull off those sunglasses without looking like a douche. I was not one of them.

I shrugged as my attention drifted beyond Jase’s shoulder, across the street, catching one last glimpse of Shortcake disappearing through the doors of Knutti Hall.

Jase sighed. “You’re obsessed.”

“Huh?”

He nodded toward Knutti. “I don’t think you’ve ever skipped a class to hang out with a girl before.”

I frowned. “How do you know I skipped a class to hang out with Avery?”

His brows rose above the sunglasses. “I’m not stupid.”

“That’s up for debate.”

Jase flipped me off. “Well, let’s see. Class let out early, so I came over here just in time to see you walking along like a good little boy. I called your name. You waved at me and kept going—or staring at her.”

My brows lifted as I wheeled around, heading for the doors. “That was you yelling my name?”

“Exactly,” he said, sighing. He looked at me, and all I saw was my face in his sunglasses. “Has she agreed to go out with you yet?”

“Nope.”

Jase shook his head. “Man, you are so fucked when it comes to this girl.

★ Julie Kagawa (one of my favorite authors ever!) has a new series coming out about DRAGONS!

INTRODUCING TALON—A NEW DRAGON SERIES FROM
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR JULIE KAGAWA

Dragons and Warriors Face Off in a Modern-Day Battle

New York, NY, October 2, 2013New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Julie Kagawa today unveiled TALON, her new highly anticipated series from Harlequin TEEN. The Young Adult series, which has already been picked up by Universal Pictures, features dragons battling an ancient order of dragon slayers in a contemporary setting. TALON, the first book in the similarly named series, will be published on October 28, 2014.

The series revolves around dragons with the ability to disguise themselves as humans and an order of warriors sworn to eradicate them. The dragons of TALON and the Order of St. George have been at war with each other for centuries. The fabled creatures, whose existence is unknown by the general public, are determined to rule the world. Their foes, a legendary society of dragon slayers, are equally bent on driving the fabled beasts into extinction. However, when a young dragon and a hardened slayer unknowingly befriend each other, it has severe repercussions for both organizations.

★ Cora Carmack (author of Losing It) is writing a new series! It’s called the Rusk University series, and the first book is called All Lined Up. Read all about it on her blog. Here’s a little tease:

Two things in Texas are cherished above all else—football and gossip. My life has always been ruled by both.

★ Some info from Katy Evans, author of Real (I’ll be posting my review of it soon!), about the Real, Raw & Ripped series:

In REAL, we meet Brooke and Remington, and we watch them fall in love.

In MINE, we watch them struggle to be together, despite everything. This is the book where I peeled back the layers, and where Brooke really steps up to fight as hard as Remington does.

In REMY, we watch a lot of it from Remington’s POV, and we also pick up where MINE leaves off, and we get to see Remy and Brooke like never before.  This is the perfect and total and complete glimpse into the mystery that is Remington – and to the life ahead of them.

Top Ten Favorite Beginnings/Endings In Books

The ones we chose for the best endings MAY HAVE SPOILERS, so read at your own risk!

  • Beginning: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak: Honestly, this entire book is amazing, but what really stood out to me in the beginning of the book was that at first, you’re not sure who the narrator is, but then later on, you realize it’s Death. The beginning just hooked me in and I couldn’t stop reading.
  • Beginning: Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan: Loved the beginning, but hated the ending because the ending totally ripped and gutted my heart. Technically, the scene that I love isn’t actually at the very beginning, but it’s close, so I’ll just count that. It’s the scene where Kami and Jared are meeting for the first time in the elevator and they freak because they finally realize the voice in their heads are real and each other.
  • Ending: The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay: I honestly had no idea that the ending was going to connect with the whole Sea of Tranquility thing, but OH MY GOD, Katja Millay, you are a genius. (Cathy’s side note: And remember when she first ran to Josh’s house and thought it looked familiar? IT ALL ADDS UP. AHHH!! <3)

And if my Sea of Tranquility were real, it would be this place, here, with him.
I don’t say anything right away, because I just want one minute to look at him before I give him my last secret.
And then I tell him.
“Your garage.”

“My name is Edith Prior,” she says. “And there is much I am happy to forget.” Then the screaming begins.

NOW THAT’S A CLIFFHANGER. 😉

  • Ending: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green: Augustus’s letter in the end was just… *sniffles* It was so beautiful and emotional, and I loved that we got to hear from Augustus one last time even after he was gone.

The Book Thief by Markus ZusakUnspoken by Sarah Rees Brennansea of tranquility 1Insurgent by Veronica RothThe Fault in Our Stars by John Green

  • Ending: This Girl by Colleen Hoover: PERFECTION. Just utter perfection, this book. The very last slam, about their baby girl, was just beautiful.
  • Ending: Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell: Even though there wasn’t a definitive Happily Ever After, I still adored the ending. I thought it was the perfect way to end Eleanor and Park’s story, because even though it doesn’t explicitly say what happens for them at the end, you know that they’ll find a way to get their HEA for sure.
  • Ending: With All My Soul by Rachel Vincent: This ending was absolutely epic, and so not how I ever expected the series to end. Kaylee’s story definitely ends with a bang, but I’m so sad that the series is over.
  • Ending: If I Stay by Gayle Forman: If this isn’t perfect and heartbreaking and beautiful, then I don’t know what is:

“If you stay, I’ll do whatever you want. I’ll quit the band, go with you to New York. But if you need me to go away, I’ll do that, too. I was talking to Liz and she said maybe coming back to your old life would be too painful, that maybe it’d be easier for you to erase us. And that would suck, but I’d do it. I can lose you like that if I don’t lose you today. I’ll let you go. If you stay.”

  • Ending: Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare: I can’t think of another book that made me bawl my eyes out as much as Clockwork Princess (maybe Losing Hope, actually). I just loved the entire ending. It was both happy and heartbreaking, since it’s the last book of the trilogy, but I couldn’t have hoped for a better ending.

Top Ten Books I’ve Read So Far In 2013

So I’m looking through my Goodreads to see what books I should put on my TTT, because I seriously cannot remember what books I’ve read earlier this year. And ahhhh there’s soo many that I can put on my list, so many incredibly amazing books that I’ve read so far this year. This makes me so utterly happy. Here are my top ten (in no particular order). You can click on the covers to read each book’s summary!

Crash 2 by Nicole WilliamsClash by Nicole WilliamsCrush by Nicole Williams

1. The Crash series by Nicole Williams has recently become one of my absolute favorite series ever. Seriously, I don’t know why I never read it sooner. It has the perfect romance (okay, it’s not exactly perfect, but I still love it) with a bad boy who is so freaking hot. Jude Ryder is just… *swoon* I HIGHLY recommend this series to romance lovers. It will make you laugh, cry, and fall in love with Jude all the characters.

Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan

2. So apparently, Unspoken was the very first book I read in 2013. Woohoo, starting off the year with a bang, because Unspoken is one of my favorite books ever! It made me laugh SO HARD I was nearly in tears, but the ending just gutted my heart. WHY DID YOU DO THIS SARAH REES BRENNAN???? Why do we have to wait until AUGUST to read the next book? The wait is torture! I MUST HAVE MORE JARED.

Sins & Needles by Karina Halle

3. Sins & Needles was completely mindblowing. After I finished it, I couldn’t get the story (and ending!!!) out of my mind! It’s such a refreshing and unique story about a con artist, and the whole book was so intense. The plot is insane, but in a good way! I have no idea how the author came up with it, but I’m so glad she did. And, ahem, I may have a thing for hot tattooed men, sooo….

This Girl by Colleen Hoover

4. I’ve got two words for you: Will. Cooper. Colleen Hoover is a god (or should I say goddess?). Her books have all become absolute favorites. This Girl was the perfect conclusion to the Slammed series. I could not have imagined a better ending for Lake, Will, and their families. If you haven’t read Slammed yet, you definitely should! It’s so heartfelt, sweet, and there’s Will Cooper, who is one of the most swoon-worthy boys I’ve ever read.

eleanor & park

5. Eleanor & Park is the most perfect romance book I’ve ever read. I am just in awe of it and Rainbow Rowell for creating a book with the sweetest, most adorable romance ever that captured my heart. It makes me wish I could find something that Eleanor and Park have. Eleanor and Park couldn’t be more different, but somehow, they just worked. Their story is perfection. End of.

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

6. I sobbed my eyes out at the end of Clockwork Princess. I was crying and sobbing by BUTT OFF, not only because it was so amazing and beautiful and sad and heartbreaking, but also because Clockwork Princess is the last book in this trilogy. And I honestly can’t think of a series right now where I felt so sad reading the last book because it was the end. Cassandra Clare did an incredible job bringing this series to its conclusion.

with all my soul

7. With All My Soul is also another final book in a series. It’s an amazing end to an amazing series. And do you know how much I love Tod? Because I love him so so much. He’s my favorite forever-19-years-old, blond, blue-eyed reaper cutie. Okay, he’s the only one I’ve read, but still. This book was intense. The entire time, I had no idea what would happen, or if there would be a happy ending, but thank goodness, Rachel Vincent doesn’t disappoint!

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

8. Warner. Warner Warner Warner. WarnerWarnerWarnerWarnerWarnerWarnerWarnerWarner. Oh, sorry. I just had to get that out there. Um, I might have a slight obsession with a guy named Warner, from Unravel Me. He’s just so… beautiful. Incredible. Breathtaking. I was absolutely Team Adam from Shatter Me (book #1), but then… Unravel Me happened. And I did a complete 180 and fell in love with Warner. And his dimples. *faints* God Juliette, I am so freaking jealous of you and chapter 62.

Prodigy_Marie_Lu_Book

9. If you didn’t already know from our review, Shirley, Cathy, and I LOVED Prodigy. It was action-packed and crazy intense. June and Day are total badasses, and I loved them so much more than I already did in Legend. Prodigy is an amazing sequel to Legend, and I’m just dying to read the third book now, because Prodigy’s ending broke my heart.

Dare You To by Katie McGarry

10. So I recently read and reviewed Dare You To, and oh gosh, it was so good. It’s the second book in the AMAZING Pushing the Limits series, and I just fell in love with it. And Ryan! *Sigh* He’s just the sweetest boy ever. The ever-amazing Katie McGarry is a favorite author, and I’m so going to read anything she writes. SO excited for Crash Into You!

So what are your favorite books so far this year?
